Tips on how to spot AI deepfakes

[00:00:00]I'm Darinese Shaheron at UT School of Law here with my photographer John Gusky. We just wrapped up an interview about AI deep fakes and how to spot them.

[00:00:11]The expert that I spoke with said it's really hard to tell these days, but something he looks for is if the photo is too shiny and it looks just too perfect. But he says it's really hard to know exactly and that advice may not be good a week from now or a few weeks from now because AI deep fakes are just advancing and getting that much better every single day. He says you just want to use caution before re-sharing something and really think to yourself, is this photo too good to be true?

[00:00:43]He also says you want to make sure that you're following a trusted source online. A source that you know won't repost or post a deep fake. Those are just some of the examples that he says, but you really want to just use caution while you're on social media. Use caution before reposting and just think twice.
