[00:01:04]But hi, hello. How are you doing? My name is Hariana and I like to make content based on nostalgia and family and children's entertainment and all the issues that I find within those spaces.

[00:01:12]Today, this is my panel that I did last week at this year's Momo Con. It is the best and the worst animation dads. I had so much fun doing this. The audience was really, really engaged, which I enjoy.

[00:01:27]But before we go any further, I just have some quick things to go over really quick and then we can get started. For one, my interview with the crew of Skin Flick, the indie animated short film is now out. Uh, YouTube, you know, never promotes my stuff, so I'm doing it for myself. It is on here. [00:03:01]I don't know how I came up with this idea. I just usually want to do stuff that's like fun, but I also want to do something that like keeps the people like talking. I like to do panels where I can actually engage with the audience.

[00:03:15]So yeah, before we get started though, here's just a quick little introduction about me and who I am and what I do. So my name is Ariana. I um you can even call me Harry, Janna, or Captain. Those are three names that people call me by.

[00:03:34]My pronouns are she, her. I also consider myself to be an administrologist who is an actress Lego, you know. Um, but I work like I'm best known for myself having a YouTube channel and carry on. Um, I'm also very passionate about drawings and animation for women and people. I also consider myself to be a descendants historian. Um, also when people were shipping the Disney characters, the jiu-jitsu kind of characters, my favorite ship out of that was Toshi and Magra. So that's like a very fun I just um I don't like the type of letters as y'all can see. Nothing is uppercase right there. Um, I do a lot of things. I'm a writer, advert.

[00:04:23]I was the former writer of a series called Nature Guns and I also the merchandise manager for Sharp Innovation. So now that's enough about me, guys. Yeah, that's enough about me.

[00:04:35]Let's actually get into what you came here for.

[00:04:41]>> Okay, so this is how we're going to do the best and the worst animation dance.

[00:04:47]We as a group will decide who is the good dad and who is the bad dad. And sometimes a dad is just okay. Like he's just okay. He's not the worst, but he's also not the best in the world. Like sometimes they're just okay. Um the categories mainly mean they could have done better, but they are flat out terrible. Um also remember to have fun.

[00:05:10]Let's not start arguments. I think I spelled arguments wrong. That's how you know I was not as you can see. Um yeah, let's not argue with each other.

[00:05:19]Let's not fight with each other. Okay, this is also for funies, but we're also going to be holding these dads accountable. Like, were they good? Were they not? I don't know. We're going to figure it out together. And by the way, this doesn't just apply to like, you know, a biological dad. This can also be a father figure. Um, so yeah. And like all the girls, they'll be back. So, what's the chaos?

[00:06:02]BUT I'M OKAY.

[00:06:05]WHEN I think too hard about it, sometimes I'm like, why you got why you got these daughters like running around?

[00:06:13]When I think hard, but like no thinking like it's the universe that it's in.

[00:06:18]Sometimes I have to do that. I say he was a good dad. He always care for girls. He always talk to them. He actually was present in their life. Not >> yeah not there. Oh yeah, I like master.

[00:06:34]So we all just agree he's a good man, right?

[00:06:40]>> Okay, we going some bad real bad. You already know.

[00:06:45]>> But no, I wanted us to start off a little more positive. Mainly because when I put this presentation together, I realized for every good dad, we have four bad. Um, >> so yeah, we have four, there's a good dad.

[00:07:05]Oh, no.

[00:07:08]>> Okay.

[00:07:09]>> I don't think he got his new worst after the channel.

[00:07:14]>> Okay. What makes me off about that is that, okay, so basically they found out that Vicki was abusing Timmy and they fired her. And I was like, okay, HE DID SOME RIGHT FOR ONCE. But then, you know, they kept the show going and that just continues to happen through very, very heinous things. And I was just like, I I can't like I'm sorry. You know, my mom can get it too. She They're both terrible parents. Like, >> it took years to realize that that was happening. Yeah, that's what I'm just like it's okay. People always have this discussion on like why didn't Chester have um fairies and Ty did and I was like because Chester's dad actually took care of him.

[00:07:57]>> That's why I think Chester was happy at home. Even though they live in a trailer park, he had a good relationship with his father. When you think about it, the fairies were given to like you know people that you know is not watching him.

[00:08:10]>> I think you got a fairy. Hold on.

[00:08:12]>> Yeah. Oh my god. I don't know if the love just wish anything for you.

[00:09:03]But she does these videos where it's like villain PR where she like tries to like DEFEND A VILLAIN. AND SOME OF THAT MAKES SENSE. I didn't know what she did with that was really funny. But she made over a fire and the whole conversation was like this. I can't always turn around.

[00:09:59]Was he the smartest? No. And that is what got him so much trouble. Oh yes, I will say I do think Wy could obviously she was much better than this.

[00:12:05]>> OKAY. OKAY. SO, first of all, for those of you guys who are not familiar with Cali Bop, there is a little girl in the group, little brown girl. She's the most horrible thing ever. Super duper smart named Ed. And Ed is basically a airborne orphan. She's super smart. She's on her own, but she ends up joining a team like a team.

[00:12:25]She goes back to an orphanage. And then he shows up come to find out he left her at day and like never came back.

[00:12:34]He left her at daycare, never came back to get her. And then when they reconnected, he left her again.

[00:12:42]>> I don't like him. I I don't like that name. I'm sorry. By the way, Calvin is actually a really really good series. If you haven't checked it out, you should.

[00:12:52]Definitely should. But I I don't like him. No. Like, you know, we talking about the worst dad. A lot of people be talking about the worst anime dad. Don't drag him off of me. I'm sorry.

[00:13:17]>> Okay, the is weird because you know this show basically has no continuity.

[00:13:23]>> Sometimes he's a good dad, sometimes he's a >> but he always does it for her.

[00:13:32]Which play? Marge, Maggie, Lisa. He sure ain't doing his part. Like, >> no. Okay, he did give up on her part.

[00:13:50]Okay. It's basically the episode of how um basically Richard and Marge decided to get married because he got arrested.

[00:13:58]Um, and then he that's how he gets the job at the plant. And so like that episode did make me respect him a bit more because he went up to um is not Skinner Burns. He went up to Burns and like you won't give me the job. And he was like, "OKAY, I I DON'T KNOW. I RESPECT Robert for doing that." I was him for doing that. But then there's just so many occasions where he's just heinous. And I'm like, I can see why they broke him into the inconsistently admirable category because when he does admirable things, he does. But no, he does his things. He does hatest things just as well. Um has no continuity. Like I said, it's annoying. Um that's why I said this woman had >> my argument is that the reason why he's inconsistent is just like statistically speaking, he's so dumb that he's going to do something right at least once.

[00:15:14]>> YEAH, HE'S A GOOD FATHER. HE WAS THERE FOR PANDA. He made sure he was loved and all that. Too bad the bad scientist um is citiz he he kind of he kind of did that to himself. I don't want to spoil JJK more than it already is spoiled but he kind of did that to himself. I'm sad. Yeah, he took that daddy. I was saying she okay.

[00:15:52]>> Okay. So it's similar to dad's dad from cowboy rebi is we should know hot's dad and you know the reason why hot was in foster care was because of him cuz he left her. They reconnected again and guess what he did?

[00:16:11]>> So no no he's not a good man. Do I know what he left her for? HE HE'S A BIRD. HE call me. He went on.

[00:16:20]>> So yeah, he murdered. He murdered chased him across Brazil.

[00:16:24]>> I DON'T KNOW. OKAY, A BIRD too because I don't know why she was running. A man that left his daughter like the fact that she had to go get his daughter because he didn't care enough to hear now. She was too good for him.

[00:16:44]>> Oh, okay. This is that real 2000s anime.

[00:16:47]Okay, Supergirl is basically about the girl that like to hang out in Shabuya.

[00:16:54]That That's basically what it is. It kind of doesn't really have that much of a plot, but it centers around a girl named Ryan Touki, and she comes from a family of cops. And I personally don't like him because Ryan made it very clear that she does not want to be a cop, but he keeps pushing her to be a cop. And guess what? Ran does end up becoming a cop. So it's just like she kind of had no type of freedom when it came to her job. She just felt like she had to do it because everyone in her family was and that's just because the dad made like him do that. I DON'T KNOW. I DON'T LIKE HIM. ALSO, HE'S KIND of creepy. He's He's really creepy because the show likes to make a lot of jokes about how mama too. They like to make a lot of jokes about how much younger his wife is than him. Like it's weird. I don't like it. But now. But yeah, Supergirl. I Okay. Is it a fun series? Yes. I I can't get back into this. It It's like >> It's fine. Yes. It's good though. I mean, honestly, we all have a problematic 2000 show that we enjoy.

[00:18:17]>> Yeah, he's a good husband, father, and friend. I don't like he's like a bad guy.

[00:18:26]>> Yeah, I like mom. I'm pretty sure everyone else here likes mom. Um, I was I said something about like No, somebody asked me like one of like like my fictional crushes and they asked and I said Bob Belchure and they were like why? And I was like that's a husband right there.

[00:18:45]>> But he's very loving, very caring. Is he awkward? YES. BUT new now I I got dragged on real quick because he always complain about how he broke and it be getting on my nerves. So maybe you stop trying to do a new burger today.

[00:19:12]>> He's only guilty of being No.

[00:19:22]>> Okay. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHO that is, this is Jackie from Day Arnold. He is no bad husband who uh he's terrible. Hey Arnold. Okay, I said something about this before, but I'm going to say hey Arnold.

[00:19:41]Okay, anybody that swim remember you know that I do not like samples. I don't I can't stand him. And I would say that like if you just want a show about people making really really bad choices and you get a lot of secondhand embarrassment from it, just watch. It's the same thing. It's the same thing without all the Sam Lemonson nonsense IN IT. BUT NO, HE'S HE SEEMS TO BE MORE focused on the bag than actually being there for his family. And I don't like that. I don't think he is showing enough care and attention to Helga. I also don't like it when parents show favoritism to one kid and not the other because he has a lot of favoritism towards Olga and doesn't treat Ela the same. And I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that they're both they're like 10 years apart. There's like a they've got that big gap between like their sisterhood and yeah. Also, let me say this.

[00:20:34]I don't even think Olga likes him that much. I'm going to be honest. She doesn't. She obviously sees the way he treats her little sister, but he also puts so much pressure on her to be perfect. I I don't like him, you know.

[00:20:47]Also, for anybody that's been watching me, y'all know I hate Oscar from Hong Too. He's not a dad. I just don't like him. I just >> OSCAR IS SUSIE. I'M SO GLAD SUSIE LEFT HIM. I GOT A NEW HUSBAND NEXT. I do best.

[00:21:16]Okay, for those of you who don't know who this man is, uh that is Gabriel Grass from Rex Ladybug. He is the main big bad villain of Rex Ladybug. He is basically committing domestic terrorism cuz he keeps bothering everybody that lives in Paris that's having a bad day.

[00:21:33]He's very neglectful to Adrian's son. He also had made Adrian basically like a famous model. No, don't do that. Don't Don't force Don't force your son into the spotlight. He does not take care of him. Natalie takes better care of Adrian than Gabriel. And Natalie is not even his mom. Y'all see why Natalie said her apologist? I don't perfect all but when she shows up, she shows up. But because Natalie sees how neglectful Gabriel is to his own son, she stepped up to help take care of Adrian. And there was even a scene where she didn't even trust Gabriel and Adrian anymore because how neglectful and mean he became to his son. She smacked him right off the kitchen table was like, "What are you doing to him?" I love that y'all for her. But Gabriel badass. Also, it's just there are some I want to swallow miraculous ladybug for anybody, but there are just some scenes where he's just unnecessarily cruel to him. Oh, I know it's bad because Gabriel is literally on the near pure evil category.

[00:22:48]Okay. I think we got Oscar Crow. Oh, he's just okay. I feel like every like black girl that had a decent relationship with her dad kind of understands children.

[00:23:00]>> He's not the worst, but he could be much better. Like, hey, he's just baby trying to make proud sense. Stop trying to make an Oscar. It's not. I do think when he's there for children, he's there for pain.

[00:23:14]Even though he can be. I know I talk parents are hurt sometimes. Being a tab is overprotective. He shows up. He's there. Uh he he couldn't be better. Yes.

[00:23:24]He's not >> He's a good dad, but I don't want to hang OUT WITH THEM.

THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED. HE GOT HER PREGNANT, >> NOT WITH TWINS. HE GOT HER PREGNANT WITH TWINS and then left her.

[00:25:34]>> And then they've been BEEFING EVER SINCE. AND MARTIN. Neither of them told them that their dad was. Neither of them told them their dad was. And they have a son, they have two kids. They have nar and a son named Luca, the twins. Mind you, Luca is a gigantic fan of Jackson.

[00:25:53]And he had no idea that was his biological father until like later on.

[00:25:59]So that was not He don't take care of the kids. And then also he pays way more attention to his sign than he does his daughter. And no, he mind you they're not little. They're not like 2 3 4 5 6.

[00:26:17]>> So they have 16 years without him. I know. And then he also left the country and took with him.

[00:26:23]>> So I can't stand Jet. I J has no haters.

[00:26:56]They were very concerned about how Casey didn't really have friends at first and they were happy to see that she was hanging out with Lumillaa and that she was actually engaging with people and talking to people. So, I think they're good, but we don't see them that way.

[00:27:07]So, but they are good. I think they're pretty good.

[00:27:40]>> YEAH, HE GOT TOLD why he got me out of clan. The Zen clan is abusive. The clan abused him. So bad to the point where he left and changed his last name. He took his bikes last night. That's how bad it was. But also his bike died. Like that's how I I do I told you, but my sister is the only girl so far because of what he did later on. Um yeah, he does care about begging.

[00:28:06]He did care about his son, but his wife died. He just kind of frosted it a little bit.

[00:28:11]>> Yeah. He basically he met another woman, MARRIED HER. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW LONG they were there before they got married.

[00:28:17]And they met a stepdaughter named Sumiki. AND THIS IS WHAT BOTH MAGGIE and silver do. SO I'M TOLD to tell but somebody had said something about Togi.

[00:28:27]They were like two things can coexist. I do think TJ was the bad. I also think he could go this month. I do think both are true but like also that no he could have been much better. He could have been much much better than Megan. Did he care about him? Yes. Should he have gone about it in much better ways? Most definitely. But yeah, the Zen clan is actually terrible. I feel like a lot of people don't actually sit and look at how bad the clan was. Because he was like I think people forget about that one scene where Toldi was like, "Hey, if this happens, y'all can take him. I know y'all." He didn't want to do that, but he wanted to make sure Megan Me was like good. He wanted to make sure you had money. Like, why do you even think that Toji mentioned Megan? Cuz he's like, "Hey, so I have do what you want with that information."

[00:29:16]Hey, I I told you he's A CHARACTER, BUT HE'S all dead. I got to be honest.

[00:29:33]>> Yeah. Oh, no. You guys, okay, I'm pretty sure all of y'all can see a movie and extremely goofy movie. Fun fact, I never finished an extremely movie until last summer. Look, I don't know. Okay, I have not seen that movie since like 2010 and then I always stopped it at the bur this part. Actually, it was a really good part I always thought it and then I just go with something else. BUT THEN I SAW THAT THE MOVIE WENT VIRAL ON social media because everybody loved the ship and act together. SO I FINALLY SAT AND WATCHED IT AND I WAS LIKE, OKAY, OKAY, it's a cute movie. He loves his son. He was towed up when he went to college.

[00:30:16]He was towed up. But like also yall don't remember that movie.

[00:30:20]So he's like basically a single dad and he's like the woman that is like you know there to take care of Max. I do think Max I understand like having your parents embarrassed you all of that y'all. But there are times where I do feel like Max was a little bit too harsh on me. I didn't especially in the movie.

[00:32:33]That's what leads to a lot of the problems that Charlotte and Joel can have with her. So, Drew, no. He I wouldn't SAY HE'S LIKE BLACK or awful because we have much much worse on this.

[00:37:52]He's just tired. That's why I feel like he can be a much better dad to both father figure to Riley, but like you have to look at the given circumstances.

He raised them and taught them how to fight. off the discipline, all of that stuff. He actually really does care about their safety when they go on admissions and everything. He was like, "Hey, you don't take this, you're going to have a heart attack and die on the battlefield." So, it was like, "Oh, let me do that." And then they proceed, he and Piccolo and Gohan proceed to train for 3 years. And then they they and then also he and Gohan train in like the hyperbolic time chamber. So, he spends a lot of time with Gohan, but >> Okay, but why why is he not there with his son?

But when he found out that Goten was his son, he was about as happy as anybody else that found out he had a son.
