[00:00:04]It's 1918, Belgrade, Serbia. Prince Alexander returns from exile as the Great War ends, inheriting a shattered dream. He unites Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia into one kingdom called Yugoslavia. He writes a new constitution, builds schools, >> [music] >> and connects distant villages with roads and railways. For a decade, South Slavs live as one people under one crown, but Croatian separatists grow violent.

[00:00:41]Then, France invites him for a state visit, and he sees a chance to secure Western support. October 9th, 1934. His ship docks in Marseille as cameras roll.
