If you want to build your house and you don't know about the steel structure design, so you should remember for size of beam, especially its depth, width, and inside steel reinforcement. So, if you are going more than two story, so you should hire the structural engineer to give you the structural design for beam, column, foundation, etc. Let's get started, guys. As you can see, guys, for 30 ft span of beam, uh uh actually, I did this design for one of my client. So, therefore, I'm guiding you for from my personal experience, okay? 30 ft span of beam. So, there I kept the size of the beam 18 in depth.
This is its depth, okay?
And the width was 12 in.
12 by 18 in, guys, you can see. So, where the size of the beam is 12 in by 18 in.
Depth is 18 in and width is 12 in for 30 ft span of beam. Next one, guys, you can see the steel reinforcement. Guys, you can see these are the steel reinforcement. So, we have dia of bottom bars. So, we have four numbers of bars and the dia is 20 mm.
For bottom steel reinforcement.
Next, dia of top bars. We have two bars at the top portion, which is called compression zone, and this is tension zone.
Therefore, we have four bars 20 mm. Dia of top bars, we have two bars and the dia is same 20 mm.
Right?
Next, guys, you can see dia of side bars. You can see these are two side bars. We have two side bars and the dia is 16 mm.
But, this is not provided fully, but it is at the distance of L by 4.
To the distance of L by 4. It means 30 ft / 4. At the distance of 7.5 ft, I will guide you in this long section, guys. You can see. This is one column.
And this is other column.
So, the span between two column is 30 ft, okay? Next, guys, dia of the stirrups, guys. You can see this is stirrup. The dia was 10 mm.
Dia was 10 mm with the spacing of 150 mm center to center or you can say 6 in center to center.
Okay, at the distance of L by 4, we have 4 in. Okay? Okay, so you can say from 4 in to 6 in or you can say from 100 mm to 150 mm. I will guide you properly in this long section because this is section and this is long section. This is cross section. Next, angle of hooks, guys. You can see angle of hooks.
Okay, which should be bent on 135 degree.
Okay, next, length of hooks should not be less than 75 mm or you can say or 3 in. Okay?
Next, guys, you can see concrete cover, which is 40 mm for each side or you can say 1. 5 in.
So, the ring size is here 9 in by 15 in.
If you see 12 in the width, one side 1.5 in, other side 1.5 to it become 3 in.
So, 3 in should be minus from the 12 in so we have 9 in by 15 in the depth is 18 in top is 1.5 in concrete cover bottom is also 1.5 so this is ring size ring size mean normally this is ring size okay got it next guys you can see this is long section of beam and I discussed section of beam or cross section of beam so if you see guys here the span is 30 ft so here we have four bars at the bottom so these are bottom bars okay which should be bent to the upward side which is called development length same at this side next these are top bars at the end it should be bent to the bottom side downward side this one should be bent to the downward side and here this size you can uh which is called development length DL which should not be less than 12 in this this is also very important next guys you can see the side bars side bars should be placed at the distance of L by 4 L by 4 mean at the distance of 7.5 in this same 7.5 in this L by 4 L is 30 ft divided by 4 so therefore these are side bars this is also starting from here okay so guys this is the topic for today 3 ft span of beam also we have extra steel bars which we are providing at the middle at the distance of L by 4 are near it support where support is one column this is other column thanks for watching see you in next video goodbye
