Flash flood warnings are issued when heavy rainfall accumulates rapidly in vulnerable areas, with rainfall totals of 3-7 inches over 6 hours creating significant flooding concerns in Mobile County and Baldwin County, Alabama. Weather forecasting involves monitoring radar patterns, atmospheric conditions (warm, moist air with southerly winds), and predicting storm movement to warn communities about potential severe weather events including flash floods and thunderstorms.

FORECAST | Flash Flood Concerns Friday and More StormsAñadido:
A good Friday morning to you all. And as we take a look outside West Mobile on the All In Credit Union Tower Cam, this is exactly, I'd say, how the picture stands for our Friday. You can see rain showers moving through the area with our darker clouds around Mobile, but off into the distance, you can see some sunshine, partly cloudy skies. There's a little bit of blue skies off there into the distance very faintly cuz other places aren't seeing showers and thunderstorms. And here's a live look at the radar cuz we got all into our inland communities more showers and thunderstorms continuing to move in, develop. Flash flood concerns are right around Mobile County and Baldwin County, but then you look at Southern Baldwin County, Northwest Florida, it's not too bad down there. Partly cloudy skies, little bit more sunshine down there, especially for all the beach goers. I know you're like, "Wow, there's showers and thunderstorms up to the north." And you probably wouldn't even know. But we are watching the concern for some more flash flooding as we go into the next couple of hours. Training showers and thunderstorms moving through Mobile County into getting into towards Baldwin County. So flash flood warnings are going to be continuing to ongoing until around 1:30 and then 1:45. There's two different flash flood warnings here.
They're still continuing to see some more heavy rainfall continue to accumulate. This is rainfall, this is the estimated rainfall totals over the past 6 hours. 7 inches of rain right around Creola. And then even right around also into this flash flood warning, anywhere from 3 to of course 7 inches of rainfall. And we're still seeing more showers and thunderstorms continuing to move across portions of Mobile County. So that's why we're watching out for the concern of flash flooding. There's now a level two risk chance for flash flooding and also the potential for some severe weather into more of our northern counties. Actually, anything north of I-65 for the News 5 neighborhood has a low level one marginal risk chance for some severe weather. And we obviously saw that earlier this morning. Had to break into a tornado warning all the way up in Clark County. There's been a few other tornado warnings back in Wayne County and also all back towards more more central portions of Alabama, too. So, let's paint it out on the weather predictor. We're still seeing these showers and thunderstorms, southerly winds, very warm, moist air, humid out there as well. As we go into the rest of the afternoon, we're going to continue to see these showers and thunderstorms move up from the south and southwest into our area, into our Friday afternoon hours. A little bit more developing showers and thunderstorms as we go by into the Friday evening hours. May be getting a little bit of a break, but it's still going to continue to move along our area. A lot more development as we head into your Friday evening hours as well. And continuing on into our Saturday cuz we are going to be continuing to track some very heavy rainfall. Even over the past next couple of hours or the next 15 hours, places are going to continue to see a lot more rainfall, especially some places more than others. As we continue to look at your Memorial Day weekend, we're going to keep in these chances of those showers and thunderstorms. It's a lot more scattered showers and thunderstorms, so you could be getting a little break from the rain, but you could be also seeing more of these showers and thunderstorms. Look at the 7-day forecast. We're going to keep in those rain chances honestly for you for the next 7 days. I know a rainy weekend ahead.
