This video explores an alternate history scenario where Harold Stassen successfully replaced Richard Nixon as Eisenhower's 1956 vice presidential running mate, demonstrating how a single change in the vice presidential selection could have cascading effects across multiple presidential elections, potentially altering outcomes from 1956 through 2028 by changing party dynamics, candidate viability, and voter preferences throughout American political history.

WHAT IF THE DUMP VP NIXON MOVEMENT WAS SUCCESSFULLY IN 1956? (1956-2028 USA ELECTIONS)#HaroldStassenAdded:
What if the dumped Nixon movement was successful in 1956? Let's get right into it.
Okay, so in 1956, Dwight D. Eisenhower was running for re-election as president and Nixon was running for re-election as vice president.
But Harold E. Stassen would run Harold E. Stassen, the guy who lost the 1944 Republican nomination to 44 Republican The guy who lost the 1944 Republican nomination to Dewey, and the 1948 Republican nomination to Dewey, and the 1952 Republican nomination to Eisenhower hopes to dump Nixon so he would become the running mate.
In real life, it failed miserably as Nixon went on to win the party and no one forgot what Stassen had attempted.
But what if it'd been successful? Well, it certainly would have been successful. Obviously, Nixon wouldn't have been re-elected as vice president and obviously, Harold E.
Stassen gets the vice presidential nomination. 1956 US election, Eisenhower-Stassen vs. Stevenson-Kefauver.
Dwight D. Eisenhower wins the election with the same margin as in real life.
Dwight D. Eisenhower would pretty much do the same in this alternate universe or this alternate history video, but you know what I mean.
Anyway, in 1960 Nelson Nelson Rockefeller, Henry Cabot Lodge Jr., former vice president Richard Nixon, and vice president Harold E.
Stassen all fighting for the Republican nomination. But obviously, Harold E.
Stassen gets the Republican nomination as he was vice president.
And obviously, Nick And obviously, Nixon wouldn't be picked as vice president.
He would go with Henry Cabot Lodge Jr.
Can he win in 1960? Let's find out. 1960 USA election.
Stas- Stassen Lodge Jr. vs. Kennedy Johnson Harold Stassen was able to win in 1960.
The Bay of Pigs invasion would be way more realistic than in real life.
And And Harold Stassen would would go with himself as like isolationist when it comes to dealing with foreign policy and foreign wars.
The unit The USA would be dealing with the Vietnam War in 1963.
Now just like in real life, Stassen does sign the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
And the Food Stamp Act, Stassen also passes.
1964 USA election. Stassen Lodge Jr.
vs. vs. Johnson Humphrey Harold Stassen wins re-election in 1964 pretty decisively.
After an eight-year legacy of the of the of the Stassen presidency many people many people run for the Republican nomination.
Such as Henry Cabot Lodge Jr.
Nelson Nelson Rockefeller But obviously, Vice President Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. gets the Republican nomination with George Romney.
Despite Ronald Reagan and George Romney.
And Richard [snorts] Nixon running for the nomination.
For the Democrats, there's Edmund Muskie, Eugene McCarthy, Jimmy Carter, and Robert F. Kennedy.
Now, Robert F. Kennedy does still get assassinated. So, obviously, Humphrey gets the nomination. Mainly because neither neither Carter nor McCarthy were popular enough to win.
George Wallace doesn't run for president in this timeline, 1968 USA election.
Humphrey Carter vs. Lodge Jr. Romney.
Hubert Humphrey is able to win in 196 Is able to win in 1968.
Continuing on here with Stassen's legacy for the Vietnam War. The reason why Henry Lodge won lost was because people were exhausted of it. 16 years of Republican leadership.
Now, obviously, the Vietnam War would obviously like end it within Humphrey's first term.
And he would try to pass some legislation.
And he would be able to successfully do so and veto and veto 500 bills in his first term. Even more than Grover Cleveland, who vetoed 415 bills.
It seems possible that he might get reelected.
Nelson Rockefeller, who lost in 1960 and 1964 Republican primaries to to Stassen in the 1968 Republican primaries to launch his own Republican nomination in his own right.
19 1972 USA election, Rockefeller Reagan vs. Humphrey Carter.
Hubert Humphrey wins re-election by winning states like Wisconsin, Washington state, Oregon, and New Mexico, and Texas. Over the years, Humphrey wouldn't mean a wouldn't really make a change to America. Many people would find Humphrey as very unpopular. He would try to pass some legislation, but Congress would make it a 50-50 tie.
He would veto 711 bills.
And no, I'm not talking about the store 7-Eleven, blow.
Anyway, when 1976 rolled around, Democrats nominated Vice President Jimmy Carter with Edmund Muskie.
In 1976, Republicans nominated Ronald Reagan, and he nominated Richard Schweiker.
>> [sighs] >> Nixon focuses on big government spending like like Stassen, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Humphrey, making America great again, and continuing on Reaganomics.
Who are you voting for?
Humphrey's legacy or Reagan populism as obviously, Jimmy Carter focuses on expanding Hubert Humphrey's legacy if he were to win.
1976 USA election, Carter Muskie vs. Reagan Schweiker.
Ronald Reagan wins in a landslide with 500 electoral votes as the terrible economy outplayed and outsmarted the Democrats in 1976.
The population Eagle Claw will not happen in this timeline.
But it's very well that stock prices would still have happened.
>> [sighs] >> The hostage Iran crisis also happened but the Republicans do easily win the midterms so it's not seeming like much of a problem like in nine in 1980 Democratic primary it was Jimmy Carter, Ted Kennedy, Edmund Muskie, Jerry Brown, Henry Jackson, Jesse Jackson, Michael Dukakis, Joe Biden, and Gaylord Hart.
But Joe Biden drops out because of a major lie plagiarism scandal and the Democratic white establishment being too scared to nominate Jesse or Henry Jackson and Gaylord Hart drops out due to one of the fake fail of him cheating on his cheating on Manuela Lace and so Jerry Brown gets the Democratic nomination and he's also from California.
1980 USA election Brown Kennedy vs. Bush Walter Mondale This one's going to be close.
Ronald Reagan wins the election with 300 electoral votes.
But then comes a stock market boom.
Democrats begin to criticize Reagan.
1984 USA election Bush Anderson vs. Brown Hart Jerry Brown is able to win 1984.
He is able to to form a working He is able to be liked by mostly the working class and and kids and young professionals.
And he is popular for vetoing a couple a couple of bills.
Which is good for him. But, however, he is not able to fix the economy.
It only >> [sighs and gasps] >> And the vast majority of Republicans and New Deal allied Democrats are very unhappy with Brown's policies.
And then, out of no nowhere in in 1988, another recession would come.
But, it was after the oil recession came to an end.
1988 US election.
Schwarzenegger vs. Brown-Kennedy.
Which is Schwarzenegger easily wins with 500 electoral votes, again outplaying the Democrats.
1992 US election.
Clinton-Gore vs. Schwarzenegger.
Due to the Persian Gulf War, raising taxes and federal income, it all heavily cost Schwarzenegger the presidency as Bill Clinton easily wins, defeating incumbent Arnold Schwarzenegger with 300 and and 85 electoral votes, same same amount as real life.
And he would easily win 50/50 percent as would run he ran in this in 1992. He would run for president later in 1996.
Bill Clinton would again pretty much do the same in this alternate universe, just like Eisenhower and Reagan.
Las would who I just said earlier would get the Republican nomination over figures like Pat Buchanan or Pat Robertson.
>> [gasps] >> In a 1996 USA election Polo Camp vs. Clinton-Gore >> [sighs] >> Mhm. Bill Clinton easily wins the election, even flipping states like Virginia and Arizona and Georgia.
After a really good two-term presidency, Al Gore is the Democratic nominee. 2000 USA election, Gore-Bradley vs. W. Bush-Cheney.
Al Gore easily wins 2000 with 367 electoral votes.
9/11 still happens.
But but [snorts] it goes very differently.
And the COVID-19 pandemic would happen just a day after.
And the 2008 recession would instead happen in 2 in 2003.
The Iraq War would also break out in 2003.
9/11 would cause 300 deaths.
COVID-19 would go with over a million deaths.
2003 Iraq War allowed 100,000 deaths.
2004 tsunami, 145 deaths.
And the Ukraine and Gaza war happening the day after COVID, 900,000 deaths.
Gore is extremely extremely extremely unpopular.
2004 Barack Obama gets the Republican nomination.
As with no George W. Bush, there was nothing at all to stop Obama from running with the Republicans.
2004 USA election, Gore Bradley vs. Oh, vs. Obama Giuliani.
Barack Obama destroys Al Gore with 500 electoral votes.
It was such a big landslide that Al Gore didn't even win Tennessee or his predecessor's home state of Arkansas, Bill Clinton.
And Al As Al Gore only won Texas and South Carolina, Barack Obama's term is basically the opposite of Al Gore's.
9/11 stops.
Well, as in this timeline, 9/11 was actually going on for like a whole year.
But anyway, Osama bin Laden would be killed in 2008.
The 2008 recession was happening 2003 stops. Iraq war comes to an end.
And the Ukraine and Gaza war and the COVID-19 pandemic also come to an end in 2002, despite the Democrats winning the 2002 midterms, unlike in real life.
2008 USA election, Obama Giuliani vs. Biden Clinton.
Barack Obama wins the election, desp- despite Minnesota and New York turn against him.
The Republicans are taking blame for stagflation and due to it and Obama raising taxes.
The Republicans will likely struggle because of it. 2012 USA election, Trump-Pence vs. Sanders-Keane.
By midnight, Trump secured Michigan and Pennsylvania and was easily the favorite to win out the entire night, but then a level of shock. Bernie Sanders was able to win Wisconsin and Texas and South Carolina and Mississippi, winning the election.
2016 USA USA election, Sanders-Clinton vs. Pence-Rubio.
Bernie Sanders would get reelected in 2016.
>> [snorts] >> The murder of John Floyd would still happen and the country would again be as divided as it has been since the Civil War.
2020 USA election, Cruz-Rubio vs. vs. Harris- Buttigieg.
Ted Cruz was able to win 2020.
Gavin Newsom runs against incumbent President Ted Cruz in 2024, taking a strong stance against Ted Cruz's policies and wanting fully electric cars by the year 2045 or 21,000. 2024 USA election, Newsom-Harris vs. Cruz-Rubio.
Ted Cruz wins reelection in 2024. 2028 USA election.
Rubio with Kasich vs. vs. vs. Bush, or Shapiro.
And if Rubio is able to win 2028.
