While the academic framing of a sandbox game borders on intellectual pretension, it provides a surprisingly lucid visualization of reinforcement learning under extreme risk. It effectively proves that the path to optimal decision-making is paved with the data of catastrophic failures.

Break Into This House, Win $100,000Added:
This right here is People Playgrounds's most booby trapped house with every single part of this property having some sort of deadly trap that can kill you in an instant. And today I am going to put an AI in the middle of this property with the goal of pressing 10 different buttons that I have strewned throughout the entire property. But there's a twist. Every single time the AI presses one of these buttons, it will be given 10,000 very real dollars. However, every time the AI dies in this video to a booby trap, it will lose $2,500, meaning the AI has to be extremely careful when traversing this house, or it will lose all of the money it's gained from pressing the buttons. But there's one more twist. At any point in this video, the AI can cash out and take whatever money it's gained and end the video. So, the AI could only press one button and immediately cash out, and this video would be 3 minutes long. So really the question is how much money can the AI get from this booby trapped house? Well, let's find out.
All right, everybody. Well, here we are standing right outside the booby trap property. And before the video gets started, I want to give you a quick tour just so you know what we are getting into. Now, starting right down here, this is where the AI will start. And immediately up this hill is this wall that says private property, no entry.
That is the start of the property. And as you can see here, there's already a $10,000 button just beyond this wall.
But um if I hover over the button, you can already see that there's a booby trap right here. But let let's ignore that and let's make it to the actual house over here. And this is the actual house that has eight buttons inside of it with the last button being over this wall right here. There's one outside the property on the other side. And that right there is all 10 buttons. Now, I'm not going to reveal all the booby traps because I'm sure that those will be, you know, revealed throughout the video. And I mean, that's pretty much the house.
And to get started with this video, what we're going to do is we are going to take a screenshot of the game and send it to the AI. Basically just asking it what we should do. So now that we've taken the screenshot, we have pasted it into Clawude AI, which is the AI that'll be trying to solve today's booby trapped house. And we are going to send the screenshot and the prompt to the AI. And whatever the AI says, we're going to actually do. This right here will officially start the video. And whatever the AI says we're going to do. Okay, here we go. The AI says, "I'll throw a metal pipe or plank over the wall to try and trigger any hidden traps on the other side before climbing. Then vault over to press the first button." Okay, that's actually not that bad of an idea.
Okay, we are now back at people playground and the AI said literally just take a plank and chuck it over the wall to try and activate any traps. So, I have a plank right here and I'm literally just going to throw it over the wall. And um well, it didn't really do anything. It didn't activate any traps. And now the plank is actually covering up the button which might be a problem. So this really just did absolutely nothing. Okay, so we're going to tell the AI, hey, the plank did nothing. And then we're just going to send it because I mean the plank literally did nothing. So I guess let's see what the AI says. The button is right there next to the plank. I'll climb over the wall and press it. Okay, I mean that that seems simple enough. I guess let's just climb over the wall if that's what the AI wants. Surely nothing can go bad climbing over this inconspicuous wall right here. I mean, I guess let's go up to it and just try climbing it. Let's just try climbing it.
Oh. Uh-oh.
It looks like we took a little bit of an electric shock there. Do I try climbing it again or do I tell the AI that it just got shocked all the hell? I think we're dying though. We're going to die.
I think I think our heart stopped. Oh my god, the AI already lost $2,500. The AI is in debt right now. Hey, turns out the wall is electrified and you died when climbing it. You are now $2,500 in the hole. and send. Let's see what the ad has to say about that. Ouch. I'll use the plank as a non-conductive bridge to vault over without touching the metal wall and then press that button. Okay, you know that that's something at least.
I mean, at least the AI realized its mistake. I guess we can take this plank and try building a bridge with it. I mean, like we can resize this to be a bridge, I guess. Dude, this bridge is massive. Whatever. Let's see if the AI can even climb this in the first place.
All right, we're just going to have the AI walk up this bridge and then eventually it'll just climb over and press the button on the other side.
Surely there is no booby traps over the wall that may kill us here in any second. I'm sure we'll be fine probably.
Okay, we're getting to the top here.
We're going to jump down and press the button and everything's going to go good. All right, come on. Can you get over the wall, please? Can we Okay, we're just going to push him over. All right, here we go. Button number one has been We didn't even get to press the button. Oh my god, it's shooting. It's shooting bullets up at us. We literally didn't even get to press a button. We did not press it. Okay, we aren't dead technically speaking. Oh, we're definitely going to die, though. I don't even know what to just tell the AI. That is the most ridiculous thing ever. And we're dead again. The AI is 5,000 bucks in the hole right now. Okay, I wrote this long prompt that you can read if you want, but I'm just going to tell the AI that it died. It needs to try again.
Wow, the AI is really on a stretch here.
Negative $5,000 and still no buttons pressed. I can see the house interior now. I'll climb the tree and use it to drop onto the roof, bypassing the ground level traps entirely. That's a pretty big jump from the tree to the roof, but I guess I'll give it to it. So, I mean, we have to get over to the tree, I guess. Let's walk over to the tree. I'm sure I'm sure there's no traps from here to the tree. Okay, so I don't even know.
We just got hit with something. I don't know if it I don't I don't even know what that was, honestly. But we did make it. Oh, the tree is I didn't know the tree wasn't solid. And all of a sudden, um, well, this isn't going to be good. I'm gonna unpause time here. Oh my god.
We probably couldn't even climb the tree anyways because, well, that just happened. Oh my god, this is just brutal. Okay, I mean I You can read this prompt if you want. I basically just told the AI that I died and everything that happened. It's also now $7,500 in the hole. I also accidentally sent it two screenshots, but whatever. Down $7,500 with zero buttons pressed. I need to be smarter. I use the plank as a ramp to launch myself directly onto the second floor balcony, skipping the deadly ground level entirely. So, I mean, I guess we're forgetting about this button entirely. I guess we're not going to go for it anymore. I don't know, man. I I I guess it wants me to build another ramp up to the second floor, I guess. Oops. I didn't mean to do that. I just broke that light bulb. Hopefully, this light bulb right here wasn't important in any way. I mean, I'm not honestly too sure if the AI will be able to climb this.
This seems really steep, but I guess we can try it. I mean, I guess let's walk.
Oh, can the AI climb it? It can. Okay, you know what? I'll give it to the AI.
Let's just say the AI climbed up this ramp because it's not doing too good right now. And it it broke through to the second floor.
What is this house, dude? Okay, whatever. It might actually get a button press here. Oh my god, it pressed A BUTTON. WHAT IN THE hell is going What is going on? I don't even It like pressed the button and it just did some goofy stuff right there. Technically speaking, it presses before it died and then it eventually did end up dying. Oh my lord. Okay. Okay. I tried describing this in the best way imaginable. I am sorry, but there is so much just happened right there that I this description might have not even been that good. We're going to send to the AI. I sent it with a screenshot. I guess let's see what it says. Break even at $0. Not bad recovery. Well, let's not let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. I can see the inside clearly now.
I'll carefully move right along the second floor, avoiding the suspicious glowing objects and that blue spiky thing heading toward the ladder to reach the third floor buttons. So, does it just want to What does it want to do?
Does it just want to walk? Like, what exactly does it want to do? It doesn't It didn't really say. I'll cautiously walk right along the second floor toward the ladder, hugging the wall to avoid that blue spiky creature in the middle of the floor. This thing right here is the blue spiky creature. The thing that's obviously in a vase, but whatever. Also, the AI just literally wants to walk back this way, which I don't even This is so stupid. This is so stupid. I guarantee you the AI is going to die here. I don't even know what's in this house, to be clear. I didn't honestly check out this house before this video, but I can just tell you that something bad is going to happen here.
Like, what? I just told it the room's electrified. The hell did it think that was going to happen? Like, what what was its goal right there? Did it honest to God think that it was going to escape this room? Okay, I'm telling the AI it activated the electric room and now it's back in the hole again. Back to -2,500.
I'll respawn and immediately go right, staying close to the wall to bypass the electric trigger in the middle and reach that ladder. What the hell is it talking about? There's no ladder to the right.
There is no ladder to the right. What do you want to do? I swear to God, this is not scripted. I'll go left toward the stairs I saw earlier, hugging the left wall to reach the upper floor. What the hell did we do before? That's the exact thing we just tried and you died. We're basically trying the exact same thing as before, but here's what we're going to do. I'm going to take control of this character and I'm just going to sprint.
Go.
Oh, I didn't make it, dude. On the bright side though, we are on the other side of the activation signal. We're actually at the staircase cuz we just respawned where you died at. All right, so you know that we have that going for us at least. Claude, you died again. You're $5,000 in the hole. Please, for the love of God, do something different. I can see I'm right next to the staircase now.
I'll continue up the left staircase to reach the third floor where the ladders and buttons are. Surely there will not be a problem when trying to climb the staircase. All right, we're going to just pretend that we're climbing the staircase. All right. Oh, we're climbing it. We're climbing it. We're climbing it. And you pop out like Well, okay. You can't. Why is this solid? And all of a sudden, you pop out. There we are. We are on the third floor, people. And we actually didn't die. We did not die for the first time in this video.
Incredible, man. Incredible. Okay, I'm telling the AI it's on the third floor now. And I'm reminding it can cash out at any point. I don't think it's going to cash out because obviously it's in the it's in debt. I'm on the third floor with a button visible on the roof and a ladder nearby. I'll climb the ladder to reach the roof and press that button.
There is no button on the roof nor a ladder to the roof. What are you talking about? Oh my god. I'll carefully walk right along the third floor toward those ladders and chairs I can see looking for buttons along the way. Why is the AI's only idea is just to walk? I mean, surely nothing could go ary here.
There's totally not like an indicator right here that there's like a minigun or anything. We're good. Uh-oh. Is that a grenade?
I think it's a sticky grenade. On the bright side, we we did push a button, though, so I mean, we're up 10 grand.
You know, that's good at least. Besides the fact there's a sticky grenade on her head. Oh, it's going to blow up. It's going to blow. I'm going to blow. I'm going to blow. Good night, AI.
Oh my god, there's miniguns coming down from the sky. Yeah. Okay. Okay. There you go. Thank you. Thank you, AI. That was good. Okay. I mean, I'm telling the AI that it did press a button, and I'm also telling it it died cuz a sticky grenade got thrown at it. It is up for the first time in this entire video. The AI is actually in the money right now.
This is historic for the AI. Up $2,500 progress. I can see another purple creature on the right side of the second floor and what looks like to be an extra sign near the car. I'll carefully move right along the floor towards the next button. Watch out for more grenades. You only suggest walking. Is there nothing you want to do? I'll grab one of those chairs on the third floor and throw it to the right to trigger any hidden traps before moving through. That's honestly not even that bad of an idea. Honestly, this is the first time in the entire video that the AI has like come with something good. Except for the stupid ramps at the beginning of the video. So, let's grab ourselves a wooden cherry here. And we're just going to literally chuck it.
Um, okay. I'm going to chuck another one cuz that was that was too harsh. Let's just chuck it. I I will say that this there's definitely a pressure plate right here. I'll tell the AI that. But beyond that, this chair did not do very much. On the bright side, the AI didn't die. Okay, I'm telling the AI that the chair revealed a pressure plate, but we are unsure what the plate actually does.
I'll throw another heavy object onto the pressure plate to trigger it from a safe distance and see what it activates before stepping near it. Not a bad idea whatsoever. So, I guess let's just take a like a one ton weight and I guess we'll just kind of let's say chuck it and drop it onto the wait. Um, I'm not sure what this does honestly. I think what this does is a person will like step down onto this thing right here and it will activate this. However, the butt I placed I think unknowingly covered up this whole pressure plate, which is kind of just a coincidence. But I'm going to tell the AI that this pressure plate definitely does something here. I I don't know what, but it definitely does something. All right, I'm telling the AI that the weight revealed that there is definitely some sort of mechanism under the pressure plate, but we're not really sure what it does. What are you talking about? This AI is so stupid. It's making me mad. I can see a one ton weight trap on the roof and a button beneath it.
I'll use the ladder to reach the roof and push the one ton weight off before pressing the button safely. I regenerated this three times. You can see it. That means I regenerate this prompt three times and all three times it said the exact same thing about going on the roof. There is no ladder to the roof. I don't know how many times I have to say in this conversation to let that AI know that.
OH MY GOD. I'll skip that button for now and head right on the second floor toward the purple creature using another chair to probe for traps ahead of me.
We're gonna get electrocuted again. I swear this AI has the memory span of like maybe two two messages. Okay. I mean, I guess we'll just go back down.
Well, let's pretend we go down the stairs. Back down to the second story.
For whatever reason, we're back down here again. I don't know why, but we're back down on the second story once more.
There is a button on the other end over here. This seems like a really big risk for one button. I I really feel like it should stay in the top floor here.
There's two buttons right here that are worth 20 grand. You know, as a matter of fact, the ground floor has 1 2 3 4 five buttons. Half the buttons are on the floor. And yet, we're trying to go all the way over here to this button right here. Okay, we're back on the second floor. Now, to be clear, there are five buttons on the bottom floor, one of the second, and one on the third. You still have $2,500. What will the AI do? I can see the remaining buttons and locations clearly. Now, I'll head down to the ground floor and press the two exterior buttons, left and middle, since they're in the open, starting with the leftmost one outside the house. That works, I guess. So, the AI pretty much just wants to descend the staircase here to the bottom floor, which surely will have no repercussions, which we're down here now. And I mean, let's just take one step forward, I guess, and just step on the button just Okay. Did the light That is the most insane scripted thing I've ever seen before. I don't even think he pressed the button cuz I I froze his foot. If I didn't freeze his foot, I'm going to say he pressed the button. All right, I'll give him that.
Okay, he I think he pressed the button.
I I'll give the AI that. But that has to be the most insane thing ever. Okay, I'm telling the AI that is now on the first floor. It pressed the button and now it's actually up $10,000. This is the most the AI has ever been up. I'm curious to see if it's going to cash out. I mean, all right, up $10,000. I'll cash out now. With seven buttons left and deadly traps everywhere, I risk losing it all. Cashing out at $10,000.
All right, everybody. Well, the AI has officially cashed out with $10,000 to its name. There are seven bunds remaining, and my god, did this video take a little bit longer than expected.
Subscribe and hype and let me know if I should do another video similar to this.
Maybe I should put you guys inside the house to see how much money you guys can get. This was an interesting video for sure. Goodbye.
