24 year old charged with two counts of murder over Jalan Ampang crash

[00:00:02]A 24-year-old man was charged in the magistrate's court here today with two counts of murder in connection with a fatal crash along Jalan Ampang earlier this month.

[00:00:12]No plea was recorded from the accused Danish Rahman Kumar Kumaresan after the charges were read before magistrate Nurul Izzah Hassan Basri. On the first charge, he is alleged to have caused the death of A. Doraisingam, 65, at about 5:30 a.m. on May 2nd along Jalan Ampang from the direction of KLCC towards Ampang Point. On the second charge, he is accused of murdering A. Menaga, 56, at the same time and location. Both charges were framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years and whipping of not less than 12 strokes if the death penalty is not imposed.
