Bindi Irwin reminds us how important and special our native bees are this World Bee Day! 🐝Hinzugefügt:
Hi everyone, Bindi [music] here.
Currently at the Crocodile Hunter Lodge and I wanted to wish you a very happy World [music] Bee Day.
Now I am joined >> [music] >> by our smallest residents at the Crocodile Hunter Lodge and Australia Zoo. These are our native stingless [music] bees. These bees are so beautiful and so special because they're native to the region, but they actually don't sting. [music] So they are super cute, super safe and very helpful little friends. So [music] these guys are phenomenal pollinators. We all need more bees in our lives because they help to pollinate [music] and help every ecosystem. They are phenomenal. Now here's a fun fact [music] for you about these native bees. So these sweethearts create honey, but their honey is really [music] distinct. So actually they collect pollen from many different kinds of native flowers in the region and it can actually affect [music] the way that their honey tastes. So I've even had native bee honey that almost tastes savory. So cool, right? So we use some of the [music] honey in our dishes at Warrior Restaurant and Bar. We have placed [music] bee boxes all over the place at the Crocodile Hunter Lodge and at Australia Zoo [music] to be able to encourage and support these beautiful little pollinators.
We all need to help out [music] our bees. So whatever you can do in your local park or backyard [music] to help support the bees, please do everything that you can because [music] we need more bees and these are little superheroes in our world. We love you little bees. Have a great day and happy World Bee Day. Oh, fun [music] fact, my family actually calls me bee for short.
>> [laughter] >> So, I love these guys. Bye.
