This case highlights the essential role of accomplice liability in ensuring that all participants in a violent crime face equal accountability. It reinforces the legal reality that facilitating a tragedy is just as punishable as executing the act itself.

Alleged gunman in the death of 7-month-old appears in courtAdded:
This court appearance taking place in the same second floor courtroom here where this defendant's alleged accomplice appeared on Tuesday. In both cases, prosecutors say that both men are guilty despite their pleas otherwise.
21-year-old Amore Green sat at the defense table with his head down nearly the entire time. He faced multiple counts of second-degree murder, attempted murder, and other felonies in the April 1st shooting of 7-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore. The gun attack from the back of a motor scooter was caught on surveillance video and left the baby dead and left her 2-year-old brother injured. Prosecutors detailed the effects of the crimes. That turned into an absolute nightmare for this family.
Uh the defendant was identified immediately following the shooting.
>> Green's first court appearance came the day after the burial of Kaori Patterson-Moore and also came a day after this. It was not my fault. I didn't pull the trigger. I didn't know.
I promise. I promise. I didn't know.
Green's alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez, tried to place the blame on Green. Investigators say Rodriguez drove the motor scooter from which Green fired his gun and both are responsible for the baby's death and other injuries and crimes. They were looking to shoot at a person. They missed and hit the baby in in her stroller and and also injured her brother. I don't want people to forget that Kaori's life was taken, but her brother was also shot and that trauma will last with that family forever. The district attorney saying that his office is pursuing this case doggedly both as a promise to the baby's family and as part of an overall strategy to reduce gun violence in Brooklyn.
Both defendants, Amore Green and Matthew Rodriguez, are set to return to court for their second court appearances on the same day, June 10th. We will certainly stay on top of this story as it continues to unfold. Reporting from downtown Brooklyn, I'm James Ford, Pix 11 News.
