Akmal Samad masterfully bridges the gap between ancient oral traditions and modern digital pedagogy through this systematic, verse-by-verse breakdown. It is a commendable example of how complex linguistic rules can be democratized without sacrificing scholarly rigor.

Learn to Read #quran #209 Surah al Juma'h 1/3 #tajweedAdded:
Hello and welcome guys. Welcome to this video. My name is Akmal Samad and we are learning how to recite the Quran. We have reached up to Surah Al-Jumu'ah. We are going from the back of the Quran and working our way. I'm thinking to myself, shall I start Surah Al-Baqarah after we have completed this section [snorts] Jews of the Quran. You let me know in the comments and let me know where you are from and how you are finding these videos. So I show you verses of the Quran on the screen and then you guys have a go at reciting it. Press the pause and then listen to how I recite.
So A'uzu billahi min ash-shaytani rajim.
Fantastic. And like this, the next one as well. Similar way, you're going to pause, recite it yourself and then listen to how I recite it. The best thing to do is have your phone in front of you and record yourself so you can see how your mouth moves and how you pronounce.
Bismillahir rahmanir rahim. Fantastic. Excellent. Now these are the rules that we have covered so far. So you have the qalqalah. Qalqalah basically means if any of these five letters qaf, ta, ba, jim, dal appears and there is a sukun on there you have to pronounce it with an echoing sound.
So aq at ab aj ad And these are what we call the noon sakin and tanwin letters. Basically in the Quran wherever you get double vowels called a tanwin or you get a noon with a sukun on there, sakin on there depending on what letter comes after it, you have to pronounce it in a certain way. So for example, if any of these green letters, we call this izhar kitabun hakim. Notice how I stopped and then I read the other letter clearly.
Kitabun hakim and the same with this.
The pink one on the other hand is going to be joined together.
Going to merge the letters together. So kitabummin and the blue one, dark blue, you're going to pronounce this with a lips coming together. So kitabum bi and anything else you're going to pronounce it in your nose. Kitabun fi Fantastic.
And if you get any of these letters wow with a dhamma before it, you pronounce it as u, stretch it two lengths. You call this two lengths. All right, so open your fingers two lengths. And and i Fantastic. Excellent.
And if you have one of those and then you have a hamza after it right? So you get this hamza. So now this hamza you are going to if it's in the same word, you're going to stretch it four times.
Shaa And if it comes in the next word, you have a choice of four or two. All right, so inna a'taina or inna a'taina. Fantastic. Excellent. And if you get any of those three letters and it comes at a stop, you can do two, four, six.
All right, so for example, let's take this word alim and you want to stop on this word you can say alim or you can say alim or you can say alim.
So it's supposed to be six.
Five there, okay. Six.
>> [snorts] >> And if you stop on a sukun or a shaddah, then you pronounce you must pronounce it six.
Al-ana kaffa Fantastic. Now on this side you have ra's, we call the full mouth ra. You have to pronounce it with your mouth full. Right? So ra, ru, ri. Sorry. Ra, ru, ran, run ur, ar. Your mouth has to be open.
And these ones pronounce with a thin sound, empty mouth.
We call this the empty ra. Rin. So you stretch your mouth as wide as possible and say rin ri ir Fantastic.
And these are what we call the mim and noon ghunnahs. So if you have a noon with this W on top, it's called shaddah, or a mim, then you must pronounce it with by pressing onto it. Anna ammah And finally, the mim sakin rule. So if you get this mim with a sakin on top, sukun then either you're going to get a mim after it, in which case you join.
So amman or you're going to get a ba after it, in which you're going to do a nasal sound.
Ambi and otherwise, any other letter, you're going to pronounce it with izhar clearly and distinctly. For example, am khalaquna am khalaquna You ready for today's lesson? Right, today's lesson is Surah Al-Jumu'ah. So pause it here, have a go at reciting then listen to how I recite it.
So these are the letters that we are going to be covering or the verses we are going to be covering today. Again, press the pause button, have a go at pronouncing it and then listen to how I pronounce it, inshallah.
Remember, the main thing here is for you guys to practice as much as you can.
Yusabbihu lillahi ma fis samawati wa ma fil ardil malikil quddusil azizil hakim.
Right, now the rules I'm slowly going to be phasing out the rules. So I'm going to be getting rid of them slowly. So the ra, there's no ra's in here, sorry, there's no qalqalahs here at the moment.
So you got the the noon sakin, no noon sakins here as well.
So you got the stretching one. So you sabbihu lilla, stretch, lilla ma samawati wa ma quddusi, azizil hakim.
Okay. Fantastic.
And is there any hamza rule? No hamza rules here. Ra's, yes, only one ra rule. Ardi, ar full mouth, ardi and is there any noon ghunnahs? No, no noon ghunnah, mim ghunnahs.
Uh and is there any mim sakin rules? Can you see any mim sakin rules over here?
No. So let's have a read of this with the tone.
Yusabbihu lillahi ma fis samawati wa ma fil ardil malikil quddusil azizil hakim.
Masha Allah. Excellent. Let's move on to the next one. If you got that right put it in the comments and if you found it a bit difficult, put it in the comments as well. Slowly you will see your improvement, inshallah.
All right, the next one again, the same thing over here. Press the pause button and have a go yourself. Try to identify the rules.
Huwal ladhi ba'atha fil ummiyyina rasulam minhum yatlu alaihim ayatihi wa yuzakkihim.
Wa yuzak kihim wa yu'allimuhumul kitaba wal hikmata wa in kanu min qablu lafi lafi dalalim mubin.
Okay. Fantastic. Excellent. Let's have a look at the rules. Are there any qalqalahs here? Can you see any qalqalahs?
One over here. Qab qab, qabdu. Don't say qablu, no. Qab, qab Right, the next one, noon sa. How are we going to do noon sakins and tanwins?
No. You guys can do that one. I'm going to do stretching. So dhi, mad, dhi, yi, yi, na, sulan yatlu ayati zakki, kitaba, kanu lafi dalalim mubin.
Are there any hamza rules here? Can you see any hamza rule? If you can, put it in the comments, inshallah.
Right, a ra's, a ra. One ra rule.
Arasulan, arasulan.
Fantastic. Excellent.
Noon ghunnah, mim ghunnahs, yes. Ummi, arasulam minhum.
Fantastics and one there. Dalalim mubin.
Masha Allah. Masha Allah. Brilliant. Now are there any mim sakins? Yes, three mim sakins rules and they're all the same.
Mim sakin izhar. So hum yat, hum yat alaihim ayatihi, alaihim ayati, yuzakkihim wa yu. Fantastic. Excellent.
Okay. Let's have a go at reciting this thing.
Masha Allah, masha Allah, well done, beautiful, beautiful.
Right, next one, last verse. Are you ready for this one?
Again, do the same thing over here.
You're going to pronounce it as best as you can. Pause first of all, pronounce as best as you can, and then you're going to, inshallah, listen to how I recite. And that way you will improve.
You will see your mistakes.
>> [snorts] >> Okay, so are there any qalaqalahs here?
Can you identify any qalaqalahs here?
Now, here are some noon sakin rules. So, min hum.
Right, we call this izhar. And we have a pink one over here, may yasha, may yasha.
Right, now the stretching ones, you can find the madds yourself. Identify the madds yourself.
All right, so are there any ra's over here?
Can you see any ra's?
No ra ra rules?
Okay, we have meem ghunnah, lam ma lam ma. Fantastic. And finally, meem sakin rules, too. Min hum lam ma bi him wa hu wal. Fantastic. Let's have a go at reading this then.
Masha Allah, well done. If you got that right, and if you made mistakes, put it in the comments, inshallah. Let's have a go at reciting all of it. Are you ready?
Okay, so let's start then.
Wa yu zak ki him wa yu al li mu humul kitaba wal hikmata wa in kanu min qablu la fi dalalim mubeen.
Wa akharina min hum lam ma yal haqu bi him wa hu wal azizul hakim.
Dhalika fadlullahi yu tihi may yasha.
Yu tihi may yasha wa Allahu dhul fadlil adhim.
