Bumblebee - RoboSub Team Video 2026Added:
Hey there, we are team Bumblebee from National University of Singapore. Over the year, we've been improving our current systems and also bringing up an entire new vehicle from the ground up.
Now let's hear from the team on what they have been up to.
>> There are many physical changes from 4.5 to 5. This is how our vehicle has evolved from the previous iteration.
This year the mechanical team's goals for the new vehicle is to achieve relaxed static stability, thermal optimization and the economics of the new battery changes. In light of thermal issues we face when ping 4.5, we have developed a unique cooling solutions for our internal components to allow for testing even out of water. We are also proud to announce the development of a new battery how design through multi-jet fusion that allows us to fabricate complex geometry at low costs. By coating them in dto sealants, we manage to achieve water tightness which ensure our batteries are protected throughout the run. The electrical team connects our subsystems through an elaborate architecture of power and signals. Our new electrical stack for AUV5 features an increased power delivery while maintaining clean voltage channels and improving thermals. for much higher thruster speeds and a new sensor suite.
By optimizing both communication and power architectures into a fully integrated stack, we perfected 4.5 spec plane system. This brings unprecedented modularity to transplant our electrical stack easily into future vehicles.
Additionally, we are deploying our in-house softwaredefined acoustic modem with integrated pinger localization with our own housing. It can be easily deployed on both AUVs for IVC. The software team enables autonomy of our vehicles for AV 4.5. We are bringing back sonar camera perception to improve localization to accelerate our segmentation pipeline. We also developed the SE3 aided labeling to speeding up data set creation and model bring up for AV5. We are focusing on multi-vehicle coordination and we've carried out systematic sensor calibration to ensure higher accuracy and consistency across all onboard measurements through pool test and simulations. We are refining our algorithms and mission planner to achieve robust and reliable performance.
Behind every successful deployment is a strong logistics operations. The business team handles sponsor relations, equipment transport, and finances to ensure our engineers can fully focus on building and computing. Beyond the lab, we're out in the community showcasing our vehicles at local events to inspire students and the public about the future of robotics.
>> Until July, the team will further improve our designs while enjoying the process. We can't wait to compete in Robosup 2026. See you at a vine.
