Beyond its visual appeal, this seasonal phenomenon reflects the rich biodiversity and ecological balance of one of Vietnam's oldest national parks, a report from our reporter in Thai Nam.

I'm here at Cuc Phuong National Park where at this time of year thousands of visitors come to admire and capture this vibrant swarm of butterflies.

[00:00:45]Home to more than 400 butterfly species, [music] Cuc Phuong National Park enters its peak butterfly season in April [music] when the insects begin their breeding cycle and appear in large numbers along forest roads and humid areas.

[00:01:00]>> [music] >> This vibrant natural spectacle attracts large numbers of visitors with around 3,000 to 5,000 tourists coming each [music] day to explore and experience the butterfly season.

[00:01:13]At Mac Lake, I was amazed by the countless butterflies flying everywhere.

[00:01:18]The scenery was stunning, filled with butterflies of every color.

[00:01:25]This year, butterfly season in Cuc Phuong National Park arrived nearly a month earlier with more butterflies than ever. White and blue butterflies are already appearing and orange ones will soon follow.

[00:01:38]In addition to areas near the lakes, butterflies are also commonly found in swampy zones.

[00:01:46]Butterflies tend to prefer swampy environments because that's where they find food.

[00:01:51]These areas contain minerals that they use as a food source, which is why they often gather in swampy spots like where we're standing right now.
