Friday and Mother's Day weekend feel spring-like; next week feels like summerAdded:
And now, your First Alert 5 [music] weather.
So, we had a snowy day yesterday. By the afternoon, many of us saw all that snow just completely melt or evaporate. And then this morning, we felt some pretty cold temperatures. 28 was our morning low in the Springs, 29 was our low in Pueblo. The record is still safe, but it was close. 27 is the current standing low record. Uh but then by this afternoon, we rebounded nicely to a high of 73 in Pueblo and 69 in Colorado Springs. Now, this morning, >> [snorts] >> it could very well be our last freeze of the season. And I'm actually pretty confident moving forward that it will be our last freeze here in the plains at least. And it's right around this time where we typically do see our last freezing night. So, seems to be on track in terms of overnight lows.
Our afternoon highs today, like I mentioned, were near average. And this evening, they're still quite comfortable. We're in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. And tomorrow will be a seasonal day. We'll start off in the mid-30s to low-40s in the plains, below freezing in the mountain valleys in the low 30s. And then highs on Friday should be nice, 60s and 70s, just a touch above average for this time of year.
So, we're feeling very spring-like looking ahead to end this week and even heading into the weekend. So, Friday, we start out with sunshine. We'll have a few clouds in the afternoon. And if you're lucky, you might get a few stray sprinkles from those clouds. On Saturday, it's going to be another nice warm day, little bit warmer than Friday.
But then by the afternoon, I am tracking a couple showers and storms, focused more towards I-70. And that's going to be ahead of a cold front. And this cold front comes in Saturday night into Sunday morning. And it could provide us with some drizzle and some really light rain to start the day on Sunday, But but for Mother's Day in general, should be beautiful weather. We'll just take our temperatures down maybe 5° or so behind that front. And if you're lucky, you might get a few sprinkles, but nothing that you would need to cancel any plans for. So, should be a great Mother's Day weekend. Now, looking ahead, next week, high pressure is building back in and that will be our dominant weather pattern for most of next week and maybe even into the next week and a half. So, what high pressure means for us is warmth and you'll certainly notice that here on this Super 7-Day. So, I've got 70s for us through Mother's Day weekend and Mother's Day weekend is kind of our waypoint of okay, can we really start planting things outside and I think yes, go for it. We're going to be in a warmer stretch of weather. Maybe your soil is nice and saturated from the recent precipitation. Should be a good planting weekend. Then next week with that high pressure, we're talking 80s in the extended outlook and we'll be really close to records. Now, I don't think we'll break the records. Uh, we're quite a few degrees shy of them, especially in Pueblo, but that just goes to show how warm we will be next week when we're at least within the territory of seeing record highs. I've got 90s on Monday in Pueblo as well as Cañon City and we're really close to those 90s, uh, looking ahead to most of next week for you. So, we're back to more of a warm and dry stretch of weather here in Southern Colorado. For Woodland Park, you'll be in the 60s for Mother's Day weekend, 70s for next week.
