Weather forecasting involves analyzing multiple atmospheric factors including temperature, humidity (dew points), and wind patterns to predict short-term and extended weather conditions. In this forecast, Canadian high pressure systems create cooler mornings (50-54°F) but allow for warmer afternoons (near 80°F) with low humidity, while wind speeds and directions (westerly at 10 mph today, north winds at 15-20 mph with gusts over 35 mph tomorrow) significantly impact comfort and outdoor activities. The extended outlook shows a mainly dry week ahead with temperatures in the 70s, with potential rain only expected next Friday when a front moves in.

Brett's Friday Morning First ForecastAñadido:
Your most accurate local forecast starts now with meteorologist Brett Thackara.
>> Well, summer is upon us and of course last weekend was a washout for Memorial Day, but we are here poolside. Yes, poolside forecast is back thanks to our friends at Crystal Pools and also all of you that have sent in floats over the years. We have saved some of these, we've given a lot of them away and now we want you to send them in again all summer long. The bigger the better.
We've got a big giraffe tube behind me that we love along with all of these fun floats. So the wilder, the better. The more funny the better and so many of you have sent in notes. We love to read them on the air and share them. So keep that coming and I'll tell you what, we want to keep the weather coming. I I'm in the hooded sweatshirt here because it is chilly. There's also a little bit of a breeze out here poolside that is adding to that chill. So let's start in downtown Carlisle. It's obviously quiet.
It's very early here on a Friday and the sun is coming up slowly but surely. It is going to be a very nice day. Clear skies, Canadian high pressure dropping southward is really adding to this chill. I can't tell you, you know, we started this a few years ago during a massive heat wave and I don't think since that time it has been very warm out here at the pool. We've had a lot of chilly Friday mornings and that includes last year when we did the dunk tank. So this year we hope for some warmer mornings, but I got to tell you I don't mind the chill.
I like it because I do think later this afternoon it's going to warm up nicely and we could be talking about temperatures near 80°. It's only 50 right now in Chambersburg and York, 54 in Lancaster, 53 in Harrisburg. I got to tell you though, standing in this pool it feels a lot colder. I mean, look at the difference here between today and yesterday. We have dropped the temperature by about 10 to 15° region wide. So it is cooler this morning. Uh it's drier, too. Dew points are in the 40s. You don't get dew points in the 40s typically this time of year as we are just a few days away from June. So I'm telling you, enjoy this weekend. It is going to be massively refreshing.
Yesterday we warmed up to 77. We had a trace of rain in the morning. Remember, we showed you those great rainbow pictures from yesterday. That was the trace. Um I think after another week, we're going to be having a deficit again. I know many of you do not want to hear that. After all the rain that we had, that certainly helped, but we are about to enter a dry stretch. The airport looks good, doesn't it? The sun coming up there. Temperature-wise, we're going to be near 80° this afternoon. So, I actually think despite the chill this morning, it is going to be a toasty afternoon. But, the difference between today earlier in the week is that it's not going to be humid. So, there's the high pressure from Canada building in.
It's going to be warm today. Now, I do expect it to be breezy, too, especially as we head into tomorrow. And then, it's going to cool down again. I think tomorrow highs could actually struggle to hit 70°. Tonight's a perfect night to grill. I had to clean up the grill the other night. I grilled out on Tuesday.
Got everything ready to go, so I'm ready for the summer. If you did that and you're ready to go for the weekend, tonight is perfect. Temperatures in the upper 70s early this evening. It is just going to be a perfect day. I mean, a true 10 out of 10 Central Pennsylvania May day is ahead. I know maybe some of you would disagree because of how chilly it is this morning. Uh but to me, again, this is open your window, breathe in the refreshing air type of weather. Tomorrow looks good, too, but it's going to be very gusty and cool in the afternoon.
And then, looking ahead to Sunday, another nice day. Chilly in the morning, but temperatures will be in the 70s Sunday afternoon, and it looks uh pretty nice. Again, in terms of temperatures, I don't see anything stopping us from hitting uh 80 today or at least very close to it. It's going to be another cool night on the way. Temperatures will drop into the 40s, I think, to start Saturday morning. And then, looking ahead, really a struggle to get to 70 tomorrow. I think a lot of us may end up topping off in the upper 60s. Now, in terms of a breeze, there will be a little one. There's a little one out here right now. I think a westerly wind today of about 10 mph, probably noticeable at times. But, tomorrow, a north wind at 15 to 20 and gusts over 35. If you've got tournaments tomorrow and you've got the canopies up, you're going to want to secure them because it's going to be tough to keep those things going as we move into tomorrow, especially in the afternoon. Sunday, the winds die down a bit, which is certainly good news. The extended outlook is going to show you a mainly dry week ahead.
There's still the outside chance we get some disturbances Monday and Tuesday, but I think the odds of any meaningful rain are low until we move into Friday of next week. That's when a front moves in and could actually give us a few showers. Notice too, that's when the dew points go back up. By this point next week, it should be a little bit on the warmer side. So, 80° today, warm, but comfortably warm, right? It's not going to be humid. Tonight, cool again down to 48°.
That chill is going to stick around and notice the 7-day forecast here, temperatures in the 70s all the way through next week until we get into the end of next week and we warm up a bit, but there's not really any rain in that forecast. We'll be back poolside here all morning long. You want to stay with us. We have more Daybreak coming up next.
