This video highlights the inevitable friction between public transparency and the specialized legal mandates required to protect critical international infrastructure. It serves as a practical demonstration of how the 1994 Security Order prioritizes collective safety over individual documentation rights.

You Can't Take A Picture Sir! π§π₯πΈβAdded:
You can't take a picture sir or video anything. No, it's no allow sir because this is train depot.
>> Yeah.
>> And you can't take any picture or video is illegal, sir. Sorry about that.
>> That one is not >> It's not at all.
>> Are you sure?
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, yes.
Jackpot.
So, welcome back to the channel, guys.
Today we are here in London, an E10 postcode, and we've come to take a look at this place. Now, just before we get to the main entrance, I just want to show you this sign that I've stumbled upon.
Channel tunnel security order 1994. This area is a restricted zone. In accordance with the Channel Tunnel Security Order 1994, unauthorized entry will be liable to prosecution. Security patches are to be worn at all times and all persons are subject to a search. Just behind the fence, we've got some tracks, offices.
But the main entrance is right just here where, as you can see, the pavement over there, the crossing brings you over here on a drop curb.
And the pavement continues all the way up here where I've put the my rider and their land would start just there. So, we are conscious of staying off their land and not breaching the order, not stepping foot onto the restricted area.
So, let's see if that will be good enough for them as we have a little look around.
Now, we like to see the signage, don't we? So, the first sign that we can see is Orient Way Train Care Facility. And if I just stand on this curb here, you do get a little glimpse a bit deeper into the site where it looks like they do have a security checkpoint just there.
It says you are now entering a restricted zone. Okay. So all the way from where I am up until that point there is not a restricted zone. So you can come in, you can park up and stuff and ask questions or make your delivery or whatever. So that's good to know as well. Now I do want to read this sign just here as well. So this is the Orient Way train care facility. Okay.
Security passes are required beyond that point.
Okay.
And you can actually see the train >> down there.
Sorry, mate.
>> Sorry.
>> You can't take a picture, sir.
>> Come on, man.
>> You can't take a picture, sir, or video anything? No. Is no allow, sir?
>> Are you sure?
>> Yes, sir.
>> Why is that? Why?
>> Because this is train depot.
Yeah.
>> And you can't take any picture or video is illegal, sir. Sorry about that.
>> I don't think it's illegal.
>> Oh, no.
>> I'm sorry.
>> Okay. Is illegal? No.
>> Well, basically mean I got the instruction. No, anyone take anything picture or video.
>> Who gave you that instruction?
>> My management sir.
Okay.
Well, I really wanted to make a video about this site, everything here. I really wanted to do that and put it onto YouTube.
Basically, I mean, how you have to speak to my supervisor or someone otherwise mean I can't let you know. Well, between me and you.
>> Yeah.
>> If I just stand out the way.
>> Yeah.
>> Do you know over there where my bike is?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Is that the public pavement?
>> Yeah, it's payment.
>> So, if I stand over there and just film from there, get out the way of this gate. Is that okay?
>> Because I don't want you to get in trouble.
>> I understand. You know.
Oh. Oh. Oh. You making for You want to put on >> This is wobbly. Look.
>> Yeah. Not >> good, is it?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> All I do with my camera and my drone.
I just get some video for YouTube. Fly the drone.
>> Yeah, that's all.
>> That's okay.
>> That's I can't do nothing for drone, you know. Otherwise.
>> Oh, brilliant. Thank you.
>> No problem. Because I could because it's drone is different. But I can't do nothing for drone. But otherwise, yeah, if you make a video mean is no allow.
Sorry about that.
>> The drone has got a camera on it.
>> Oh, >> but the video camera, you know.
Why you not ask? Why you not get the permission mean easy for you as well?
>> What if they say no?
>> Then do I walk away without the video or do I disrespect the manager and do it and then we have an argument, don't we? So if I just stay outside, I think we're okay. Can I stand here? Is this your land here?
>> Yeah, that one.
>> This is your land right here.
>> That one?
>> I don't know. This is like the pavement.
Look.
>> Yeah, this one is different depot. That one is Euroar and that one called GA.
>> Oh, so is this not Euroar here?
>> There is no Euro Euroar. That one.
>> Oh, >> if you see if you want to make a Euro Star, Euro Star over there.
>> Where are the Euroar trains? Your start train is inside.
>> Oh, okay.
>> When you go when you go like over there when you walk down, you can see right hand side your start train over there.
>> I can take the photo from the fence.
>> Well, I I mean I'm just look after Fier.
>> Who looks after that one? Oh, him >> should be over there. People >> this one here. I can see him.
>> Yes. Should that one become >> Do you want me to talk to him? Yeah, you can talk to him. Okay, I don't mind >> then. Maybe it passes passes it to him >> because all the management because over there >> Yeah.
>> mean is all the management everyone is here. If if they want they give you permission as well. Am I allowed to cycle and speak to him or is is this is this like a restricted area?
>> No. Why? Why you park your bike over there? If you take your bike otherwise someone took your bike.
>> I'll take my bike and I'll go and speak to them.
>> Speak to them.
>> Okay. I wanted to video the Euro Star. I didn't realize it were two separate sites.
>> That one is too separate.
>> What trains are these?
>> That one is G.
GA.
>> I don't know that.
>> Okay.
>> GA.
Oh, Greater Anglia. Ah, I've heard of that. Yeah. Okay. Okay.
>> All right, my friend. I'm focusing that way.
>> No problem.
>> Thank you.
He wasn't too bad, was he?
Started off with the nonsense about no filming allowed, but I think he means you can't stand there and do it. I think that's what he meant. We put them words into his mouth anyway once we mentioned the drone.
Things change slightly. Now, what's the best way down here? Should we walk?
Let's enter on foot and speak to the gentleman in the gate house that represents the Euro Star site. I think uh there he is. Look, we'll be a vehicle now because we'll speak to him on wheels.
my friend.
>> Oh, do you want me to come to that side?
>> I just spoke to um your colleague over there cuz I'm here to make a little video for my YouTube channel, right, of the Euroar depot.
>> Go inside. Tell her I want to see the timing.
>> Oh, you've got an office.
>> See the down?
>> Oh, okay. I'll go in there. Thank you.
Oh, I'm not a passenger.
>> Yeah.
>> I'm just on the outside.
>> I normally just do videos, YouTube videos of sites.
>> Videos?
>> Yeah. Just like I've got a drone, you see. So, I just make a little drone video from above.
>> But I stay outside.
>> Video is not acceptable.
>> No, I stay outside.
>> Which area you want to be?
>> The this Euro Star one.
>> I know it's not allowed. Well, if you do spot me on the camera, don't panic or anything. It's just for YouTube. All right.
>> You can't video around here.
>> No, no. I'll stand outside. I'll stand outside because what it is, I've got the drone, you see, with the camera.
>> Do you want to use drone?
>> Just going over make a video.
>> That one is not >> It's not hard at all.
>> Are you sure?
>> Yeah. Cuz normally it's okay for me cuz I'm I'm outside when I launch.
>> It's not it's not acceptable.
>> Do you want to check? I just didn't want anybody to to see me and worry.
>> When they see you, they will come and >> Well, that's what I'm trying to avoid.
If I tell you now, then we avoid all the the worry later.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Oh, you are going to stop.
>> No, it's for 2 minutes.
This is where the passengers come or just staff >> staff.
>> Oh, engineering department.
>> Even the vehicles get checked. Look by security.
No outside.
>> Even checking his ID. Look.
>> Did you have approval?
>> No.
>> No, it doesn't have approval.
>> I was just cycling past.
>> I don't even know >> what company you come from. There's no company.
>> No complaint. It just come for >> just a member of the public.
>> Public place. No, it's not acceptable.
>> It's resistance zone.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> That's on the land.
>> You need to talk to the manager on the site because they are not around now.
Anytime you want to do such like that, we contact them. You can't do it now.
>> No, I have to do it now. I don't have enough time to come back later.
>> Let me call. He said that he have to do it now, but I said no. Let me >> Yeah. Let me come.
Because it's not allowed.
>> Yeah. Because that one Yeah, that you have to have approval before you can do anything here or else it will be dangerous for you.
>> Call anything.
>> Yes. T I N G.
Okay. Okay. Thank you.
He's coming. He's coming down.
>> Oh, okay. Thank you.
So, whilst we wait for whoever it is, we'll read some information. The Euroar engineering center, Temple Mids is the UK maintenance and servicing depot for Euro Star's highspeed international trains. The TMD stands for traction maintenance depot. It says the site is located in East London near Leighton and Stratford alongside major rail lines and it was originally built for the Euro Star fleet when services through the Channel Tunnel began in the 1990s. And it says the depot is specially designed for highspeed electric trains and has long maintenance sheds, overhead power systems, inspection pits, and secure rail sidings.
>> Hello. Oh, hello.
Hello, sir. How are you?
>> Hi. I'm just reading some information about the site just to get some video clips. Add it all together. Put it on YouTube. That's all. But I'll be standing off site and I just wanted security to be aware cuz if they spot me outside, don't get alarmed.
>> We do have a Yeah, we do have a cameras and everything. Yeah.
>> Uh do you have any permission for this side? Because we have no problem. It's just because of our restrict. Okay. what uh the I can explain what is this because of the terrorism because we don't know anything. So if anybody making any video for any purpose this could be used for uh publicity it could be used for personal it could be used for anything it could be used for terrorism.
>> Yeah.
>> So we don't know. So that's the only reason we object because unless we know the person and they have the proper uh authority or have a what do you call it permission then no problem at all. So as long as you get permission you can make proper refilm no problem with us unless we don't know. So the only thing we can do we can't really stop you but we can just call on the BTP. So uh uh DFT only DFT can authorize you. So it's up to you whatever however you doing uh because we don't know or anybody could know that what you're going to use it for.
>> Yeah.
>> You could be using for really personal for education purpose for any any >> Yeah.
>> could be terrifying.
>> Yeah. So >> or just somebody that could be interested in the site and just want to put it on their channel. Yeah. So maybe you could sort of um like alleviate the suspicion >> by just asking some questions um just ask me um where am I going to put it, you know? Where am I where am I going to upload it to?
>> But that's >> and then I could tell you maybe reassure you. Yeah.
>> Yeah. No, of course. Yeah, of course.
Yeah. That's DFT things. Yeah. They can >> Oh, are they coming?
>> Yeah, they can. Yeah.
>> Well, they're going to come here >> if you call. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> They'll come.
>> Transport for London. Yes.
>> Uh we are under transport London. Metrop Metropolitan Police doesn't have no in authorization to go in.
>> No, I'll be outside. I'll stand out there.
>> Outside.
>> I'm not coming in the restricted zone.
>> No, you're not. Yeah.
>> So, but I'm outside in the >> drone. It's a drone.
>> Oh, the drone is using the airspace.
>> The drone's going to go over. So, that's not property, is it?
>> Airspace is a Euro property.
>> No, can't be.
>> Okay. Could be. Maybe not. I don't know.
Could be not. Is this only uh Department of Transport? Please decide. We have no We can't do anything. We can't permit you. We can't stop you.
>> Yeah. And all I'm here to do is communicate.
>> I'm I'm going to be outside.
>> Very kind of you actually. You came at this.
>> So So like no need to waste the police time or waste no need to lock the site down or or interrupt the business. Man outside with a YouTube channel. The YouTube channel is called DJ Audits.
Just so between me and you to reassure you, I'm not here for hostile reconnaissance. Sometimes people do think I am. That's why I try and >> you know at the moment uh what to security threat level we are.
>> It's one below the highest then it >> yeah therefore I'm not just doing it saying oh >> at the moment >> it's low. It's low problem. I know it's high >> then okay you know.
>> Yeah I know it's high. So I want to go the extra mile and just say look it's only me.
>> Very kind of you actually. I do respect the boundary. Yeah, I can see the restrictions. You've got signs on the fence as well out there. I can see it's very serious if people go in.
>> Yeah, >> but the airspace that isn't property and you may see helicopters flying over.
>> They do. Yeah.
>> So, they could also be filming down the Google Maps as well, you know.
>> So, I'm not going into buildings or anything like that. just literally above about 100 meters looking around talking at what I can see and saying great things. That's all about because it's a TMD.
>> It's personally I can't authorize you.
>> No, I'm not asking you to cuz that will get you in trouble.
>> Yeah. Thank you.
>> Yeah.
>> I guess you know what what I mean. You know, >> I don't want to get anyone in trouble or cause any alarm.
>> So, yeah. Okay. I'll get off site now cuz I know you're busy.
>> Busy man.
>> No.
>> Are you one of the top bosses?
>> Uh, not really. I'm just a manager.
Yeah. a manager at the moment >> or the team leader you can say. Yeah.
>> Will I see any trains do you think?
>> Uh you mean movement or the train?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There are a few.
>> Okay. Okay. That's good. Cuz I I've not seen any so far.
>> No. From outside you can see there are a few.
>> You can see it from down there. Can you?
>> Yeah. Because mostly they are in the shed service in in servicing right now.
>> Yeah.
>> And some of them are outside. Yes.
>> And you have really deep pits so you can get underneath here.
>> Yeah. And we can lift the train as well.
>> Lift it. How high? The whole train.
>> What?
>> About this high.
>> Can you?
>> Yeah.
>> Because in the bogies.
>> That's some lifting gear, isn't it?
Yeah.
>> Yeah. This is really good. Yeah.
>> And it was purpose built in the ' 90s, weren't it?
>> If you get permission, you can go inside. Really? I mean, >> do they do tours with cameras though?
>> Uh, we have tour once a year. And this I think next month we will have a tour.
Yeah.
>> Oh, cameras allowed or no?
>> Uh, that time I think cameras not allowed.
>> Not allowed. There you go. Yeah. Yeah.
>> But you can go and see things. So you can go in on the train, you can see cockpit, you can see engineering work.
>> Good experience.
>> Yeah, it is actually it's good to know.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> And because they're international train, that's the only reason you know.
>> I know. I know. I have seen the >> and channel tunnel act is quite strong strict.
>> I know.
>> So because the uh train goes under the channel tunnel.
>> Yeah.
>> So that's >> you have to be you don't want to be the person who's the weak link in the whole chain, you know.
>> 480 people lives. Yes.
>> Yes.
>> Yeah.
>> This could be nothing written on the face, you know.
>> Could be any.
>> I know.
>> Could be anyone.
>> I know.
>> This is the world we live in and we just have to be as careful as we can.
>> Exactly. Yeah.
>> Right. Nice to meet you. Anyway, what was your name again?
>> My name is Muhammad.
>> Muhammad. Nice to meet you, Muhammad. My name is DJ. DJ.
>> Oh, DJ. Okay.
>> I'll get off site now and leave you to your >> Thank you very much for coming in and asking. Really? No problem at all. No problem. Really appreciate you. Nice to meet you. Really appreciate it. Okay.
Thank you.
Thank you. Bye-bye.
>> Well, wasn't Muhammad a very pleasant guy?
Doesn't want to be seen to authorizing anything like that, but knows full well that he cannot stop it.
And he did say that you can see some trains from down there.
Um, it is a very, very long site. So, I'm not sure whether we're going to go down there. Let's just work up here and use the drone as discussed. So, let's get David up and see what the Euroar engineering center at Temple means looks like from the back.
>> So, as always, we have checked on the drone map. There are no flight restrictions in the area at all. It's a big site and the clouds are not looking too great. So, before it starts raining, let's do this.
>> Take off.
>> So, there we are up at 50 m. And you can see where the pavement ends and their sight starts. a little bit more confusing over there because you've got the entrance and that little curb stone there. But I think the the pavement does look like a pavement as well if you ask me. There are the normal trains, the non Euro Star trains parked up there at that little sidings.
But down here, we're hoping to see some nice Euroar trains.
There's the long maintenance depot. Look.
And just behind it, I think in the distance, yes, we can see two over there. But that is a long way away from my position, isn't it? So really, I need to be launching down there. The road does continue.
So I think yes, I think I'll just have a quick nosy around here for 1 minute and then we'll make our way down to a better position. And a little bit lower at a different angle. That is where we had the conversation. And you can see the security checkpoint over here. That gentleman is operating the barrier. from that little huts just there employed by mighty I noticed on his work wear but just a very brief look from this position and then we'll move ourself let's look up there and that'll do drone flight number one done let's move down the road and then we come to a Euroar train finally bit dirty But that's what it looks like in all its glory.
Seen better days that one, isn't it?
Very dirty. But just inside the open door, we get to see a much more modern, cleaner one in there. Look.
40 22 2 I think. Unless there's more numbers that we can't see.
And from a different angle, another view inside. And we can now see some staff.
But as you can see, it has started to rain.
So I'm hoping it passes pretty quickly.
So we can do drone flight number two.
Are they waiting for a train to come out here?
>> They might be. Look, both looking down in that direction.
Oh, he spotted me a maybe we've been seeing on the cameras.
Or is one coming from this direction?
No, not that I can see.
So, now the rain has stopped. Let's get David up and see what this place looks like from above >> for the second time.
one point.
>> So, flight number two up at 30 m standing across the road and the distance that we have traveled is quite far all the way down there.
We finally made it down to the area where we can see at least one Euro Star train just over there. But we'll get a bit higher.
Make sure we don't uh get anywhere near the electrification and we'll just have a little nosy.
Oh, police just driving past the Mets.
Police.
Yeah. I wonder if they're nicer inside than they look on the outside.
However, those are just not being used. Never will be.
I don't know. Obviously, at this time of day, they're all going to be out working.
Well, apart from the ones that are inside having the maintenance, but it's unlikely that we will see any moving.
And the guys down here, I'm not going to get too low. That'll be my lowest, 30 m.
The guys down there, I did think they were waiting for one to come out.
It doesn't look like that's the case.
Oh, he is walking backwards now.
Is this perfect timing?
I can hear a sound getting nearer, louder.
Oh, yes.
Jackpot.
A Euro Star train coming out from the maintenance shed.
Looking much better than the other two that we looked at over there.
Does look clean, doesn't it?
It's certainly not every day you see a Euroar train pulling out of its maintenance shed.
That is for sure, but it's a long one, guys. I'll pan back so you get the full picture of how long these Euroar trains are showing on the body cam. It is still coming out of the shed.
Wow, look at that. And it's still coming out.
So, I'm pulling back a little bit further so we can make sure it stays in one shot.
According to CH GPT, they are about 400 m long with around 16 passenger coaches.
And it says they can carry roughly 900 passengers.
That means a full Euroar train is roughly the length of four football pitches side by side or almost a quarter of a mile long. Wow. And their maximum operating speed is around 186 m an hour.
But inside the Channel Tunnel they are limited to around 100.
So, in comparison, a UK commuter train like we saw on the right hand side of this site would normally do around 100 miles an hour and these can do 186.
So, there we go. It's still coming out.
It's just finished. We just had the end right just there.
And if we look to the left, the start of it is just there. So, all that distance, look, that is amazing. Max altitude reached.
>> We are up at 120 m.
And will it fit? Yeah, it only just fits into one shot. That is mad.
Okay, I think that'll do. Let's get David back and wrap this one up. And one final shot there showing the older Euro Star trains and the new version just there.
Off it goes back to work.
Taking all those passengers over to France.
Okay, the location of the DJ Audits key ring on this video will be opposite the Euro Star main sign on a twig just there. So, if you are one of the first people to watch the video and you do want a key ring, good luck with that.
Directly opposite and you can see it there in the bush.
Yeah. What do you think?
The guy on the right, no photos allowed.
Totally ridiculous. You cannot stop people taking photos from the outside. I don't know how many times we have to say this, but we will continue to say it and we'll continue to hear that for a long time, I suspect.
And we had a similar sort of thing from the Euro Star where we expect the uh the security to be that high really as we said they don't want to be the weak link in the whole operation do they just allowing anyone on anything through but you've got to respect the fact you've got to get a balance haven't you people want to document the place you don't want to stand in their way and be obstructive really.
And I think when Muhammad arrived, we finally got there. He knew he can't stop us. He'd rather not. There's no way for him to be 100% sure that I am not here for the wrong reasons.
And he's got his job. He's got to say that in it. But the others, I think they weren't just saying it cuz it's their job. They were saying it because they believed it. Not allowed. You can't do it. What? You really think that you have some sort of say what I do out here on the public pavement? Eventually, they'll learn that if you do anything against the law outside our boundary, then we'll hand it over to the police.
We'll let the police know what you're doing and let them decide whether it's allowed or not allowed. We're not going to prejudge what the police will say.
We'll just tell the police what you're doing. They know the current laws, legislation.
As mighty security guards don't get paid enough to know all that, so why pretend to? I don't know. Anyway, let's move on.
If you have enjoyed that video, do give it a thumbs up for me, and I'll see you on the next one, guys.
Bye-bye for now.
