Before the request even reaches your AI service, you need to know as who called the API, which application called it, what was the request ID, was this request authenticated, was it rate limited, was it blocked, and how long did my gateway take?

So, tools like Azure API management or any enterprise API gateway can help with gateway level control. It gives you authentication, throttling, logging, request tracing, monitoring, and policy enforcement around your AI services.
