Bhante Pannakara's Dhamma Advice at Mahamevnawa | #walkforpeace #mahamewnawa #srilankaAdded:
In the name of Buddha, respected Maha Sangha.
Dear lady devotees, um this is a surprise.
Uh it's not in the schedule to stop by this amazing temple. It's a huge temple.
And uh a big welcoming.
Everything here is uh great.
And the most venerable monks and your teachers uh opened the door to welcome our Walk of Peace monks.
Uh we get a chance to rest for a little and then we continue our journey.
Uh our journey today is way too long.
Uh the first day and it's way too long.
Uh I think we still have two or three more hours to walk.
And so um while I'm here, I would like to um remind you all that we don't have to live [music] with suffering.
We can choose to live without suffering.
You can choose to live with my mindfulness and kindness and compassion.
And in order for you to do that, you have to practice mindfulness every day.
Not just come to the temple to worship, to offer, to listen to the Dharma talk.
After you listen to the Dharma talk, you have to take that into action and practice every day.
Otherwise we will repeat our life like this.
Which is suffering life after life.
Therefore if you can practice mindfulness by contemplating on your breathing method breathe in and breathe out with awareness.
Every day you breathe, but you are not paid paying attention to your breath. So now, all you need to do just add awareness to your breath.
When you breathe in, you know that you are breathing in.
When you breathe out, you know that you are breathing out.
Simply just like that.
And everything in life, every thing in your daily life just do one thing at a time.
Don't do a lot of things at once.
Our mind can only pick up one thing at a time.
But we are all multitask.
For that reason, we are very easy to be sidetracked.
A lot of distractions around us.
And so try to do only one thing at a time.
Even though you will fail one after another, but it's okay.
Nobody is perfect. We just have to practice and continue practice.
Don't give up.
Okay?
Just breathe with awareness.
Breathe in and breathe out. When your thought arise acknowledge that those thoughts by saying thought thought thought silently and then come back to your breathing.
And if you have any type of sound, if you hear any type of sound, just acknowledge that as sound sound sound come back to your breathing.
And if you feel anything within this body, just acknowledge that as feeling feeling feeling and then come back to your breathing.
Practice like that every day.
I promise you if you continue practice like this every single day your life will be much different.
You will live with joy, you will live with happiness and peace.
Don't live with suffering anymore.
Enough is enough.
You don't have time to waste.
So today practice that from now on.
Contemplating on your breathing, okay?
May you all be well, be happy and be peaceful.
Sadhu sadhu sadhu. So dear Bhante, once again, many merits for joining and visiting this monastery.
So we bless you once again and may you be well and happy. Theruwan Saranai. Namo Buddhaya.
