There is a deep irony in watching a film about the death of subculture being consumed as standard digital entertainment. It proves that even the most radical rebellion eventually becomes a comfortable commodity for the next generation.

FIRST TIME WATCHING ~ SLC PUNK ~ HOW HAVE WE NOT SEEN THIS!Added:
Welcome everybody to Kevin and Terra's never seen.
>> Uhhuh.
>> Um Terra's zoot suit rioting right now in her brain. I >> I need it.
>> She needed it. She No, baby. Eat that popcorn. You eat as much as you need.
I'm good. We're We're going to watch something that I've never seen today and that Terra has never seen either. Right.
That's I' I've seen bits and pieces. I kind of think I have in my brain an idea of what this is and what it's about. I may have actually seen it at some point in college. SLC Punk is what we're watching today. What do you know about it?
>> That guy from Screams in It. Matt and Matt Lillard. Is that how you say his name?
>> I think that's how you say Lillard. Matt Lillard.
>> I can remember seeing the um movie poster of it and thinking this looks pretty cool cuz it looks like some punk rock kids like the kind of kids I would hang out with in high school. So, >> well, that's pretty much all I know. And I think the SLC stands for Salt Lake City. So maybe uh a punk from New York or something gets has to move and go live with a bunch of Mormons and he's now the Salt Lake City punk. I don't know. I also know that I like wrestling and CM Punk is one of my favorite wrestlers and that his CM stands for Chicago made punk cuz he's from Chicago.
So Chicago made punk is his character's name technically, but CM Punk is what he goes by. Like SLC punk and CM Punk. I always felt like there's some kind of connection there. And maybe it's just cuz there's two a couple letters before the word punk. You know, >> you want me to talk now?
>> Um, sure.
>> You just jumped in and took over on me.
>> Sorry. Well, I figured you were stone and eat popcorn and have a good time and I just get it on the ball. Get the ball rolling.
>> I didn't mean to take over the show.
>> If if you had given me a minute, I would have finished. But then because you kept talking, I kept eating popcorn. So, >> well, eat your popcorn. I was going to start off by saying thank you to everybody for all the birthday wishes.
>> Yeah, that post got a lot of got a lot of love.
>> That was sweet and made my day. And there's the burp I've been waiting on.
Definitely definitely made 47 a little easier. Anyway, thanks thanks for all the the birthday love. We're going to watch SLC Punk today. We spun the wheel.
We had a lot of s of uh ideas for today.
um spun a wheel and this is the first thing that it chose. So SLC punk.
>> What year?
>> I was just going to say I'm not sure what year. I want to say ' 92 or one in my head is what it sounds like, but >> I'm going to say 9697.
>> 98. Holy [ __ ] Okay, so you're closer.
>> All right.
>> I don't know why I thought it was so early. '90s.
>> I remember seeing it the the the box a lot at Blockbuster, too. or like the videos like, "Oh, well, I'll rent that one day." She never did.
>> She never did. All right, earole muffs going in.
>> Yeah, your ear your whole muffs are on for me.
>> All right, let's get to it. 3 2 1 plays now.
Kick her in the buckle up, y'all.
>> Oh no.
>> On the screen. First time takes. know what that means.
>> I'm hoping for a good soundtrack.
>> Yeah, I was about to say >> I don't know if it's a comedy or a dramdy or a drama or a coming of age or not like maybe kids.
>> I hope it's not like kids. Kids is [ __ ] depressing as [ __ ] >> I hope it's not like train spotting.
>> Yeah, I don't want >> I don't want babies on ceilings.
The thing about me and Bob and pretty much all of us was we hated rednecks more than anything else. Period. Because rednecks for us were America incarnate and America.
>> Well, [ __ ] America.
Okay.
>> Let's get it. I already like this guy.
>> Well, I hear that.
>> Just beating up some dudes for no reason.
>> Yep.
>> What could I say? We weren't much more than a couple young punks.
Devin Saw Jason Seagull >> Till Schwagger.
>> You can't headbang too much with these headphones or they'll go flying off. I think the reason why this one came to mind to watch to be one of our choices is bec recently is because um Real Big Fish is going on tour and I've been listening to that.
>> Yeah, this this music is going to resonate probably a lot more toward you than it will me. I wasn't I've never been a huge punk fan or SCA or any of that. Like I got a couple songs I like from those types of bands, but I never went out of my way to listen to them.
Red >> To be an anarchist in Salt Lake City was certainly no easy task and our tribe was small. I mean at the center it was me, Steo and Bob. My roommate Heroin Bob.
>> Okay.
>> Nothing. He just wrapped it up in a dirty old t-shirt and he left it like that for weeks.
>> Jesus.
>> Oh my god.
>> Wow.
>> Is he going to be okay?
>> Oh yeah. He'll be fine. I'm sure.
>> But Jason Seagull's so young.
Who?
>> Oh, I >> think that wound's the most infected thing I've ever seen.
>> I hate doctors, man. I hate him.
>> Okay, >> cuz without me, you'd be dead.
>> He's about to freak out.
>> He doesn't like needles.
>> He doesn't LIKE NEEDLES.
>> NO, NO NEEDLES.
NO, PLEASE.
>> OH, GOD.
>> BUT, you know, not just needles. I mean, the guy was afraid of drugs, too. We couldn't even get him to take a damn aspirin.
>> The nature of chemicals, man. You know that dude Napoleon? I >> had a friend in high school that dressed exactly like that and would preach the same things.
>> Murdered by arsenic. And you know how?
>> No idea.
>> His hair.
>> Hair.
>> His [ __ ] hair.
>> Dude. Dude. Dude. If you do enough hits of it, you're dead.
>> No. What happened to Sean?
>> Well, you know he was selling acid, right?
>> No, man. I told you. $25, man. $25 is inflensive.
>> Thanks, man.
>> Mods are [ __ ] man. And the shit's [ __ ] dead. We catch you out tonight.
We're kicking your ass.
>> Kick my ass.
>> All right, your mom's still driving us to soccer practice, right? 4:00, >> guys. Enjoy.
>> Ridiculous.
>> So, he takes off running and he's running through the track building and the sprinklers are on.
>> Uh, the ass is in his pocket and it got wet by the sprinkler and he's about to get in his skin as he's about to [ __ ] trip balls.
>> Yeah. across the USA >> and the school cop chasing the guy.
There was a school cop that chased a guy all the way up to Home Depot from our school.
>> No. Over a 100 hits of acid dissolved into Jean's leg.
>> I went to see him like a week later and was sitting outside in the cold.
>> He was John.
>> Yep.
>> The [ __ ] spike.
>> Are you him?
>> Yeah, I'm him. I knew people like this.
>> You're frying, man. How much acid did you take?
>> All of it. Every bit of it. He did not leave any for anyone else.
>> If I get off this chair, I'll drown. You want to know why, Bob? Cuz I can't swim.
>> I'm having a school flashback.
>> Satan is in the house. Killed my mom and turned her into a bull.
I didn't hear you coming in. Oh my god.
Holy [ __ ] Oh my god.
>> Jesus.
Oh [ __ ] >> Oh my god.
Oh my god. He called the cops.
>> Put your hand in the air. You don't come back from that. Like, >> no. No, he's not ever.
>> Anarchy. The only system of government that seemed to make any sense to us at all.
>> I'm totally loving this.
>> My father tried to get me to go right after I graduated high school.
>> Oh my god. Shooter McGavin.
>> It's rebellion things you're going through. I I I understand it. Not completely, but uh >> free darling. Always.
>> Yeah. You be practical, Steve.

>> Very proud. So proud.
>> This was so many people I hung out with.
>> The hair maybe tone it down a bit. This whole thing you're doing, this statement about the American Indian you're doing.
I'm baffled. And And not just me. I mean, I'm saying regular guy on the street is going to be baffled, too. And we're hip. We're cool. It's just those guys on the East Coast are never going to get >> Oh, Jesus, darling. We sound like our parents.

>> Yeah. Take his father.
He's a son of a [ __ ] >> [ __ ] you, dear.
>> [ __ ] you, dear.
>> Cuz for all the fawning that went over the English bands in the SLC, those [ __ ] English chaps could only say [ __ ] about us Americans. All we were to them was a bunch of hicks. Well, you know what? I'm not a [ __ ] hick. I don't wear cowboy boots. I hate the [ __ ] rodeo. Horses smell like [ __ ] to me.
By definition, I'm not a redneck. God damn it. I ain't a [ __ ] hick.
This guy is me. Like it's every without the hair and sex. WHO CARES THE STORY OF THAT?

>> Oh [ __ ] >> Jason Seagull's the crazy one.
>> No, I have to take care of >> It's always the [ __ ] buttoned up nerdy ones.
>> HE'S ABOUT TO start throwing [ __ ] Like literally picking them up and throwing them.
OH [ __ ] >> He stopped [ __ ] the girl so he can go jump in on the fight.
>> He put on his Coke bottle glasses.
>> I don't know that guy's name. I think he's German, Austrian, something.
>> Yeah, >> I've seen other stuff.
Now everybody's hanging out >> to you. It was my instinct to react that way because you punched my friend. I'm the bouncer for the bunt. It's going.
>> Yes, but this is a punk show and mayhem and punk shows it's like peas and carrots.
>> Yeah, it goes together.
>> I'm really sorry about the beating and I hope you're saying America is more pleasant.
>> Say this.
