When human recreational activities (like jet ski riding) create dangerous interactions with wildlife (such as whales feeding in harbors), public concern often leads to policy responses including bans or restrictions on those activities in sensitive areas, as demonstrated by Vancouver's incident and Toronto's subsequent jet ski ban.

Whale gets hit by jet ski in Vancouver (May 2026)本站添加:
Last week in Vancouver, a guy on a Seadoo hit a whale going full speed while people were watching it feed. The video, it went viral. The whale's okay.
It was spotted feeding and swimming the next day. The rider, yeah, not so much.
He had to call search and rescue. Now, there's petitions going around for a full jet ski ban near the shorelines, and Toronto just banned jet skis for similar reasons. I'm just glad the whale's okay, but let me know your thoughts in the comments, and make sure you follow for more boat news.
