[00:00:00]Alex Murdaugh's murder conviction overturned. The jury that sent him to prison for life, that state's highest court says it was tainted. Murdaugh was convicted in March of 2023 of killing his wife Maggie and son Paul at their Colleton County estate. The jury took just 3 hours to find him guilty, sending him to prison for life. But his defense team said that trial was not fair. They pointed to the clerk of court Becky Hill, who they claim tampered with the jury. One juror testified Hill told her to watch Murdaugh closely, making him seem guilty before he even took the stand. 11 other jurors said they didn't hear those comments. A lower judge denied a new trial calling Hill's behavior >> [music] >> fleeting and foolish, but not enough to change the verdict. Today, the Supreme Court disagreed.

[00:00:49]>> [music] >> In a unanimous decision, justices said Hill egregiously attacked Murdaugh's credibility, tainting the jury's decision. The case now goes back for a new trial. Murdaugh will stay in prison.
