This video examines a 2026 event where Cardinal Fernández publicly criticized a 2006 doctrinal notification against theologian Jon Sobrino, which had been approved by Benedict XVI with the highest papal authority. The video argues that this incident demonstrates the ongoing challenge to the finality of papal doctrinal decisions, as Fernández declared the notification 'inadequate' despite its papal approval. The video emphasizes that the Council of Chalcedon's definition of Christ as 'true God and true man, one person in two natures' remains the unchanging foundation of Catholic faith, regardless of contemporary theological debates.

SHOCK: FERNÁNDEZ dismantles BENEDICT’S LEGACY and revives FORBIDDEN THEOLOGY!Added:
There is a document that few remember.
It was signed by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger on July 18th, 1984 at the height of his activity as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
In that document, the future Benedict XVI described with surgical precision what would happen to the church if liberation theology were not stopped.
Very few took him seriously.
42 years later, on May 12th, 2026, we understood that Ratzinger was right about everything.
By the end of this video, you'll understand why a university lecture by an Argentine cardinal is for traditionalists the bitterest confirmation of a prophecy we would have liked to have been wrong.
Let's see what exactly happened.
On May 12th, 2026, Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández spoke at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome for a day of study dedicated to so-called contextual theology.
There, Fernández publicly criticized the notification of 2006 against Jesuit Father Jon Sobrino, a document approved by Benedict XVI with the highest papal authority available.
Fernández's words, reported by Catholic Culture and InfoVaticana, are unequivocal. The notification does not encourage the effort to take seriously the context in which theological reflection takes place.
Rather, it seems to indicate, adds Fernández, that theology conducted in the context of the poor is inadequate and dangerous.
In other words, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith calls the doctrinal correction signed by his predecessor and personally approved by a pope inadequate.
Who is Jon Sobrino and why is his name changing everything?
Jon Sobrino is a Spanish-born Jesuit priest born in 1938 who has lived in El Salvador for decades.
He survived the assassination of his fellow Jesuits in 1989.
He is one of the most influential figures in Latin American liberation theology.
The movement that in the 1960s and 1970s sought to read the gospel through the lens of a Marxist analysis of history.
Here something even more profound comes into play.
Ratzinger first as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith from 1981 then as Benedict XVI's fought this current for a quarter of a century.
In 1984 the instruction Libertatis Nuntius identified serious errors in liberation theology.
The uncritical use of Marxist categories, the reduction of salvation to political and social liberation, the subordination of the magisterium to revolutionary practice.
The notification concerns two books by Sobrino. Jesucristo Liberador from 1991 and La Fe en Jesucristo from 1999.
The document identifies errors in six specific areas.
Methodological assumptions, the divinity of Jesus Christ, the incarnation of the Son of God, the relationship between Jesus and the kingdom of God, Jesus's self-awareness and the salvific value of his death.
The notification explicitly mentions the risk [music] of denying the unity of person between the Son of God and Jesus, the very heart of the faith defined at Ephesus in 431 and at Chalcedon in 451.
Pay attention to this detail.
The specific approval with which Benedict XVI ratified that notification is not a bureaucratic signature.
It is the maximum degree of papal involvement possible on a doctrinal document.
This means that the Pope doesn't just approve the conclusions.
He approves every single argument, every single premise of the reasoning.
Ratzinger spent 24 years of his life from 1981 to 2005 as prefect, then another eight as Pope building a doctrinal barrier against the theological excesses he saw advancing in the church.
The notification on Sobrino was one of the final acts of that colossal undertaking.
Ratzinger knew that if that door wasn't closed, someone would reopen it. He had said so.
No one had taken him seriously enough.
Sobrino contested [music] the notification and continued to publish.
But the judgment of the Apostolic See had been issued with all its force and with it an unequivocal message.
There is no negotiation about the person of Christ.
Who Jesus Christ is is not a question open to historically conditioned revisions.
It is the foundation upon which everything else rests.
Liturgy, sacraments, morality, ecclesial structure.
Here it is.
It happened.
A man chosen by Francis precisely for his programmatic affinity, Fernandez, stands up in a university classroom and declares that the door had been closed improperly.
Not as a private criticism, not as a confidential academic reflection, as a public statement from the pulpit of the Pontifical Urbaniana University in front of students and academics reported by the international media.
Tradition is never wrong about the nature of the problem. Ratzinger had identified the danger decades in advance.
This is the point that no major media outlet has made clearly.
Fernandez isn't simply expressing a different pastoral sensibility. He's declaring that a document approved by a pope with the highest available authority is inadequate.
The term in specific form exists precisely to prevent >> [music] >> ideological successors from dismantling the doctrinal decisions of their predecessors.
And Fernandez knows this, being a theologian by profession.
Meanwhile, the official website for the SSPX consecrations of July 1st, 2026 is now online. The countdown has begun.
37 days separate the church from four new episcopal consecrations in Econe, on the same meadow where Monsignor Marcel Lefebvre made the choice that changed the history of Catholic traditionalism in 1988.
The news here is that Leo the 14th has given his response, although not an explicit one.
He declared that he prays that the leaders of the fraternity reconsider the extremely serious decision they have taken.
But the website is online. The names have not yet been officially made public.
And Palearani has given no sign of wanting to stop anything.
The real question, the one that no one dares to ask, is if today Fernandez can declare the notification on Sobrino, specifically approved by Benedict XVI, inadequate, what other doctrinal document from the past can be considered immune from the same operation?
If the prefect of the doctrine of the faith can publicly rehabilitate condemned errors on the divinity of Christ with the highest degree of papal authority available, what other magisterium does a university conference separate us from?
The good news, and it is the only answer that the traditional Catholic can give, is that the truth of Christ does not depend on who sits in the prefect's chair.
The Council of Chalcedon defined in 1451 who Jesus Christ is, [music] true God and true man, one person in two natures.
That definition did not become inadequate in the year of grace 2026.
It remained standing after 19 centuries of assaults far more powerful than a university lecture.
