The Year of the Baby?Added:
Well, we were going to make a video telling you all about what we have coming up for the rest of this year, but instead I think we'll just invite you all to our shared calendar.
>> Oh, is that easier?
>> You're going to get a lot more info than you need. Like when to take our pills.
>> Uhhuh.
>> When to give our dog antibiotics, when like when our dog last used the bathroom at times.
>> No, we don't put that on the calendar.
Don't worry. when Hannah has actually used the bathroom.
>> But no, today we're going to tell you about our summer plans and kind of the complexity of planning this year. I feel like a lot of people can relate to this.
Um, even >> the year of the baby, >> even though it's not something that is really talked about, like when you start planning to try for a baby or, you know, thinking that maybe this this will be the year, it it's kind of tricky to plan the rest of your year because you're like, well, I don't want to assume that it's going to happen. I don't want to be delusional and be like, I'm going to be pregnant in six months and like we're going to plan for it this way.
>> Especially when you're, you know, >> someone that's gone through IVF.
>> Yeah. Totally. When you've had issues, >> you know, like you can never count on the fact that you're going to get pregnant.
>> Yeah. And it would be even more devastating to not get pregnant if we like planned our entire life around it and then it didn't work out, you know?
So, we're not planning our entire life around it, but at the same time, you don't want to plan a bunch of stuff that's incompatible with it. And then if you do get pregnant, it's all of a sudden an issue. So, it's been a really interesting and tricky thing to plan this year, >> especially for our profession, which requires travel.
>> Yeah.
>> Quite a bit. It's been tricky to navigate all that. So, we're going to tell you what we have scheduled for ourselves and then like >> how we're figuring it out.
>> How we how we imagine a baby or you know Hannah being pregnant may play into that.
>> Yeah.
>> Before we get into all that, we just want to quickly thank the sponsor of this video. Thanks to Monarch for sponsoring this video. Did you guys know that I'm the chief financial officer of our household and as the chief operating officer? Obviously, but here's what nobody tells you about being the household CFO. The spreadsheets for all.
I used to have so many spreadsheets everywhere. Tabs for brand deals, tabs for royalties, tabs for budgets, tab everything. At some point, I was just a guy that was, you know, hovering over 15 million browser tabs trying to figure out which account brought groceries last month. Enter Monarch. It syncs with 13,000 plus institutions. So, every bank, card, and brokerage that we have lives in one clean dashboard. Accounts, spending, net worth, debt, payoff, recurring bills, all of it. They have both web and mobile. Same beautiful experience across platforms. Their flexible budgeting actually separates or fits cost from the flexible stuff. So I'm not getting yelled at by an app every time I order Thai food, which is all the time. And the AI insights explain what's going on with our money in simple to understand language that I find really useful. It's helpful friendly, too, so Hannah and I can see the same experience and make sure that we're always both on the same page financially. >> First up, we are leaving LA at the end of May. That is official. We actually postponed the date a little bit. We would have left early May, but Shane has a >> an event that I'll tell you about soon.
Don't worry. Yes. A secret business engagement. So, we had to push our leaving date from LA.
>> Yes. So, going back to Minnesota for like a day >> and then going directly to Pennsylvania.
So, it's almost like we're doing a >> cross country road trip >> little stop to drop off our stuff in Minnesota and then onward to Pennsylvania >> where we will be attending my nonprofit laughing at my nightmare annual 5K event back in person after being fully virtual for a few years. Back in person, Hannah and I will be there. Hannah said she's running the 5K.
>> Did I say that? I said I'm doing the 5K.
She might walk it.
>> I think I'm going to walk the 5K, but yeah, maybe I'll do a little runwalk action. I'll probably ride on the back of Shane's chair.
>> We've been posting info about that and all that info is below as well. Um, but we're doing that. We're seeing my family.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh, that's always fun. We might go to New York City while we're over there.
Uh, and then head back to Minnesota to really begin our summer months.
>> Yes. And we're trying to keep our summer months as home centric as possible. So >> carefree.
>> Yeah, we have a lot more like concert tickets and like play tickets, sporting events. Like we have a lot of stuff that we're doing this summer, but it's all based in Minnesota.
>> Our friends Michael and Amanda are going to be coming up from Tampa to spend about a month >> Yeah.
>> with us in Minnesota. uh >> escape the uh Florida summer heat and enjoy a beautiful Minnesota summer.
>> They're absolutely with us in LA right now in our living room. And uh we love spending time with them and we're so excited that they can be with us for an entire month.
>> We're going to be doing all the most carefree leisurely activities.
>> Yes.
>> To keep Hannah's uterus happy.
>> Just a relaxing summer. We have tickets to Noah Khan's concert. We have tickets to Hillary Duff's concert. That's just Amanda, me, and my mom. The boys are not invited to that.
>> Yeah. A free pass from that one.
>> Yeah. And then one of Shane's favorite artists is performing at a music uh festival. Y >> we've never really gone to a music festival like like it has like camping and stuff.
>> I was in Boston Hall.
>> Oh, did you? But you didn't like stay there.
>> I stayed in the hotel. I didn't stay.
>> Oh, and you like went multiple days. Oh, that's cool.
>> Yeah.
>> This has like camping.
>> Yeah. or a hotel. Like we're not sure, >> but we're considering possibly going, but music festivals are really not >> not my thing. It would be it would be >> a full music festival, >> so I think it's going to be more laidback.
>> My favorite artist right now is Samia.
Um, and she's performing and I've never seen her live. And so we floated the idea to Michael and Amanda want to go down to a music festival in Iowa and like camp maybe.
>> Yeah, it's during that month. So, it would be fun, but it's we have to we have to consider.
>> And then we're thinking about maybe going to Europe, which I know you just heard us say that we're trying to keep everything >> I know >> laid back and relaxed. This is the first activity that will be cut if anything changes.
>> It's not official yet. Yeah. Because we're not sure if it's a great idea, but it could be. And especially if I don't get pregnant, like why would I not go to Europe if that's what we wanted to do?
So, we're considering going over there later in the summer, >> places that we've been before, maybe go to Poland, you know, where Hannah is from. We're talking a lot about what we might do.
>> Yeah.
>> And then the other like main thing we have this year is we're speaking at the Abilities Expose in Chicago in June.
>> June >> and Orlando in >> October. October.
So, we will be in those places at those times.
>> Yes. But yeah, we're overall we're trying to keep the travel work engagements lesser this year. It was so much travel last summer. So, we're just trying to keep it a little bit calmer.
>> Yeah. We've been saying we've been being very conscious of our scheduling with what kinds of events we're Yeah.
>> taking on and doing the ones that are not going to stress us.
>> Yeah. So whether whether this is the year of the baby or not the year of the baby, we have a wonderful year planned.
Like I think that's that's the goal is to like make sure that no matter what happens, we have a great year.
>> Yeah. And I'm really happy that we're approaching the family stuff that way.
>> That like we're going to be happy either way. Yeah.
>> I'm I would be worried right now if all of our happiness was relying on we're going to get pregnant soon.
>> Yes. Um, so it feels really good that we're doing fun other stuff as well.
>> Yeah.
>> So that all of our energy is not on the baby.
>> Yeah. Can't put all your eggs in one basket.
>> Got to diversify your fun.
>> Can't put all your eggs in one uterus.
That's how you end up with >> You never know what's going to fertilize.
>> On that note, have a good rest of the week, everyone. Too much.
