Sonko Is Now Speaker. But Who Are the Two Men Who Made His Return Possible?

[00:00:05]Today I want to share something very special. You know a revolution is a marathon. It's not a sprint. A revolution is a marathon. An uprising may be shortlived but a true revolution stands the test of time. And the only way that that happens is when there is a team. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a team to sustain and fuel a revolution.

[00:00:39]Today we are going to look at two members in the Seneagalis revolution.

[00:00:46]those without whom Usman Sonko would not be the president of Seneagal's National Assembly today. It's not just two. It's not just those two. There are many more.

[00:00:59]But today we are going to spotlight two.

[00:01:02]The reason we'll do that is this. We need to understand as Africans that if we do not build teams if we don't organize we cannot be able to birth and sustain revolutions because it takes a team. So the best person to tell you about these two members these two team members is mano himself.

[00:01:33]And as he tells us about them, think about organization in your own country.

[00:01:41]Think about unstoppable teams in your own country.

[00:01:47]Teams that can deliver a revolution that can transform your country and in so doing transform Africa.

[00:03:44]He has just talked about the work that he began to do.

[00:03:48]He could not have done that work but for the seneagalis revolution that delivered him to that position of prime minister and also delivered basier to the position of president. Now everything that you've heard s list there understand this true revolutions deliver lasting change true revolutions deliver concrete change it's not just about the sentiment sentimental feeling that we are in a revolution that revolution is happening in our country and we're in the midst of it it's not just about that it is about delivering concrete lasting change just as mano has said. Now understand this the seneagaliz revolution is still work in progress.

[00:04:41]Every achievement that he has just mentioned is still work in progress.

[00:04:46]Which is why it is important to have a strong formidable team. Before we zero in onto those two people that I told you about, people that are going to be representative of the fact that without a team, you cannot deliver lasting change. Before we zero in on them, I'd like you to tell I'd like to tell you one thing.

[00:05:09]One of the principal members of the Seneagalis revolution was President Baser Yay F.

[00:05:17]He was almost like a co- captain of this revolution which is why man Sonko entrusted him with that position of presidency and then told the Negalis people that fire is Sonko and Sonko is fire when you vote for him it's just it's almost like you're voting for me but now we know what happened so I want to give you a sneak preview into what the ser who was initially a principal member of this team of revolutionaries.

[00:05:56]I want to show you a little bit of what he has been up to during these two years that Osman Sonko was preoccupied by those challenges and achievements that he just talked about. Let's have a look at what President was doing amongst other things of course.

[00:06:44]This was in late June. It was less than 3 months after Baser became president when he visited Bahi.

[00:06:56]Now I'm going to have a separate episode to talk a lot more about the trips that Basero do took has taken during these two years but for now suffice it to say that less than 3 months after he became president he visited as you've just seen he met Emanuel Mau he went on as you can see in the graphic on your screen he went on to visit Pi at least three times making France the country, the singular country outside Africa that revisited the most, France and the US. But at least for the US, uh part of those three visits was for the UN General Assembly.

[00:07:41]But for Perry, for France, he has visited France three times. More than that, he has been on 38 international trips.

[00:07:52]38 during this short period of two years. This means that President Baser has been visiting other countries at least every 3 weeks. He has boarded a plane to go on overseas travel at least every 3 weeks during these two years.

[00:08:15]That is quite telling. It's no wonder he began losing focus of the fact that he was a principle in this revolution.

[00:08:24]But we won't go deep into those trips today. I just wanted you to see that unfortunately sometimes when you build a team of revolutionaries, unfortunately the moment any team player starts to lose focus of why the revolution is there in the first place, you begin having problems.

[00:08:46]like exactly what you're seeing in Sagal today. Thankfully, it is a team. It is not just about fire and sonore and there are other team players in this revolution salis revolution that are actually doing a massive and a great job. Now we're going to listen to Smano speaking about them.

[00:12:02]There's a reason he's getting a standing ovation because he's a team player who has put the revolution before his own personal aspirations which is something that you cannot say about president is 44 years old and he joined past in 2015 meaning he has been a member of party for the last 11 years.

[00:12:31]He was also the minister of transport when uh in April of 2024 when Sonko and fire took over the government he became the minister of transport and later that year he became the president of the seneagalis national assembly the party president and he made way for us mano imagine if he had his own personal interests before the interests of the revolution.

[00:13:06]Imagine if he had proved very stubborn and said he's not going to step aside because he was enjoying the parts of power.

[00:13:14]Mano would not be the president of the Sagalis National Assembly today which is why he has paid him a glow tribute. And let this be a reminder that at the end of the day, any revolution in any African country must build a strong team.

[00:13:39]Not a team that are loyalist to a singular individual, but a team that are loyalist to the cause to the hon reason why the revolution is there.

[00:13:51]Once you have a team of such loyalists, totally committed people like El Malik, then it is possible to transform countries through a revolution.

[00:14:05]That is so so critical. There would be no speaker Usman today if there had been no speaker Malik one that is completely dedicated and committed to the cause. That is one of the two that make this sineagaliz revolution unstoppable.

[00:14:27]Actually not two the hundreds of thousands but this is one of the two that was spotlined today. Let us now move on to the next one before we conclude and really focus on the fact that we must build teams that deliver revolutions that deliver transformations.

[00:16:29]Great. Great. Um before I say something about uh this guy Isma Law, I see you. Everybody who's joining us today, thank you very much for being here. I see you and I celebrate you because we must have a continental conversation that will deliver transformation in Africa. And when we come together like this to have such conversations, we are planting seeds of revolution, seeds of transformation and that is the starting point of transforming Africa. So I see you calling, I see you Jaff and everybody else who is joining us today. I truly appreciate your presence here and I actually agree. I found myself wondering uh why this man so had not appointed El Malika in the first place as president.

[00:17:23]But you know what? Sometimes you only know the true character of people when you give them power power or money. And also as I said a revolution is a marathon. It's not a sprint. So sometimes the revolution just like a marathon must reach the 10th kilometer.

[00:17:42]the 30th kilometer and some people start giving up. You cannot know that they'll give up until you reach that point. What matters is for the vast majority of the team not to give up at all. And one guy who has not given up is the one that you can see on the screen now. His name is Isma War. And this this guy Usman Sonko has also paid him a glowing tribute. He is from northern Sagal. He is a teacher and I want to stress that point that he's a teacher by profession. My own parents are retired teachers. I completely celebrate this profession.

[00:18:27]And you need to understand this. Just like Isma Law did not look at at himself as just a teacher, but he looked at himself as a change agent, as a revolutionary who can stay the course and transform his country of Sagon.

[00:18:46]That is a message that every single African should have. You're not just a teacher. You are a change agent. You are a revolutionary. You're not just a student. You too are a change agent. You too can be a revolutionary.

[00:19:03]Whatever it is that you do, whoever it is that you are, nobody is insignificant when it comes to revolution that transforms Africa. So let's look at this guy, Isma War. And Sonko is so grateful to him because Isma War was the one who was occupying the parliamentary seat of Sonko when Sonko was serving as prime minister.

[00:19:31]He too could have refused.

[00:19:34]He could have said that I'm not going to step aside or he could have complicated matters but he didn't. Do you know what he said? In fact, Isma War has said recently that he was just the guardian of the seat that belongs to the guardian of the revolution.

[00:19:56]He was just the guardian of the seat that belonged to the guardian of the revolution.

[00:20:01]And when he said that, he realized that he too was a guardian of the revolution.

[00:20:08]So when you're playing your part in the revolution, you can never be egocentric.

[00:20:14]You can never lose sight of the reason why you are part of the revolution in the first place. So we celebrate Isma War. He is a truly amazing person. and with people like Isma War and El Malik B and the hundreds of thousands of others including those that Sonko does not even know their name but they share his revolutionary attributes of truly transforming Sagal when you have people like this a revolution cannot fail now there's one other factor here that is very critical I'm going to explain slightly I'll share graphic on the screen now that will show you how it is that when Sonko was prime minister there could be somebody in parliament occupying his seat. How is that even possible? Let me briefly explain.

[00:21:15]Now this graphic that you can see on the screen explains how Sagal's constitution treats this matter. You see in Sagal when you are elected into parliament if you are appointed into the executive you cannot continue serving in parliament it's not like the way it is in for example Britain where a sitting member of parliament can still be a minister cabinet secretary in Sagal that's not possible but there's also something very interesting in the electoral code people do not just vote for individuals they also vote for lists So that if the principal occupier of a given parliamentary seat can no longer occupy that seat then there's already a list of people who can occupy that seat on a temporary basis. So that if the principal occupant of that that seat ever returns just like Sonko has then what that means is that the person who is occupying it on a temporary basis then steps aside and the principal occupier occupies that seat again. And that's an example of how constitutions can also feed and enable revolutions.

[00:22:38]For example, in a country like Tanzania, you cannot even appeal presidential results. That's how they were able to announce that Samya Sulu has 97%.

[00:22:51]Which was statistically mathematically impossible. But nobody can appeal that because the constitution doesn't allow for that. So, Sagal has a truly powerful constitution that the rest of Africa can learn something from. So that's how this guy uh Isma War was able to occupy that seat. However, as I will explain um in another episode in the coming days, you are probably going to see Bas launching um and his people and his cronies.

[00:23:26]You're probably going to see them going to court to challenge some of these things that are happening. And one of the areas that that one of the things that they may zero on is actually this um uh this seat here that Isma evocated so that Sonko can take it. Even though the law is clear on that they are probably going to look at technicalities so that they can attack his speakerhip.

[00:23:55]But you know what? Whatever they do, the people of Sagon will prevail because the Seneagalist revolution is not going to fail. It is going to live to its logical conclusion of truly transforming Sagal.
