He flees to the Yugoslav embassy, trusting diplomatic immunity will protect him. Soviet agents trick him into leaving with promises of safe passage. Instead, they drag him to Romania in chains. After a secret trial, he faces a firing squad for the crime of believing communism could be reformed.
