In fact, he's turned out as the swing vote and the most institutionally institutional of the institutionalists. He is the swing vote on the court. He is the justice most likely to be in the majority. And I think it is shocking in this modern era because even if you don't consciously say that you're sort of avoiding pain by retreating to your own side when the other side hits you, it is natural human instinct and we can point to all sorts of people across the political spectrum who have done just that to like feel like they're still part of a team when they've been rejected by their team or whacked by the other team, etc. And Brett Kavanaaugh doesn't do that.
