11/05/2026 - Showers moving south - Morning Weather Forecast UK – Met Office WeatherAdded:
Good morning. It's a fresh start in the south and a cold start across Scotland, but in between we do have a weather front bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain initially across Northern Ireland, then pushing into Wales, into the Midlands and the far east of East Anglia. It sinks its way southwards turning patchy in nature, so not amounting to too much and eventually reaching the south of England as we head and end Monday evening. To the north though, many places seeing a good deal of sunshine through Monday plenty of blue sky, but it is still feeling cool out there. We have a brisk northerly wind as well, so across eastern coast in particular that will take the edge off those temperatures, actually feeling more like five or six degrees. So for all of us temperatures are below average for this time in May.
As we head through the evening time plenty of late evening sunshine, some showery outbreaks of rain clearing the south coast, a few showers across East Anglia, but across much of southern England, that's where we hold onto the lengthiest clear skies tonight. To the northwest we have another system approaching, so cloud thickening across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland to bring again to some showery outbreaks of rain and behind that clear spells and showers. But given the cloud and rain it'll actually be a milder night as we start Tuesday morning across Scotland and Northern Ireland, but to the south of that across East Anglia and much of the southeast of England, that's where we could see a touch of frost. So a colder night to come. Do take care if you are a gardener and protect those plants.
As we start Tuesday morning then plenty of sunshine though first thing across the southeast. That won't last too long.
We will start to see this frontal system just sinking its way southwards, will introduce more in the way of cloud and a few spots of rain. Again not amounting to too much, just across the Midlands, into the home counties and East Anglia.
Behind that, turning brighter, sunny spells developing and showers. These most frequent across western parts of Scotland. A few heavy ones developing inland and also with the risk of some snow over the mountains.
Otherwise, in head of that cold front, we will see temperatures climbing perhaps 16 or 17 degrees, but otherwise around 13 or 14 in the north. And then as we head into midweek, it is a case of blustery showers through Wednesday.
Temperatures still struggling below average for the time of year and that theme continues as we head into Thursday, too. But for more details on that, if you are watching this on YouTube, make sure make sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss an update and I'll see you soon. Bye-bye.
