In plumbing systems, the height and angle of drain lines relative to traps determine water flow direction; when a drain line is positioned higher than the trap, water flows out, but when the sink is installed and the line is lower, water flows into the basin instead.

Immediate New Homeowner HeadachesAjouté :
Good morning everyone.
So that's what I'm dealing with. Um the washer does not work. Um but I had a quick question if anyone knows the answer. um directed towards the pipe doctor.
So, this washer here broke, right? Um it's actively killing itself. Uh somewhere in the motor there is a fault.
I tried messing with it and it's internal to the motor, something that I definitely can't fix. So, my question is, right, so you have the washer drain output here, which is kind of normal in Florida, at least for something like this.
Turn this off again.
So, I'm draining it because I'm having somebody pick it up. But, okay. So, my question is, so you have this drain line attached to the outside utility sink, right? And there is there's a trap and there is a trap. So, that's the washer, right? And it's a straight line. It's actually slightly inclined here. So, compared to where the trap is over here for the washer, without the sink on, it would pour out of the sink trap, right? It would be pushed out and flooded the entire floor, right?
Once I put the sink in, right, it's I mean, maybe it's like half an inch higher from like I mean, there's still water right here, right there.
Um, why is it that once I put the sink on, which has no filter or stopper, right?
You know, why is it that once I put the sink on then it didn't push water into the sink, you know, like the basin, but with the sink off, it was dumping water out. Just dumping non-stop water, even though the trap on this side is inclined compared to the trap over here. That's my question. Hopefully, somebody's got an answer. But anyway, um washer and dryer is being picked up and new ones are being picked up today as well. The dryer works, but it's old as nuts. Um, shout out to the the home inspector that didn't catch that the washer didn't work, but whatever. Um, just another drop in the bucket, right? But, so, we're going to get these wrapped up and joining this one. That way, it's not as heavy. We'll go from there. All right, guys. We have some updates.
Doug is supervising.
Um, we have the toolbox number one moving. It's on the move. I put two little dollies underneath of it. Is it the most secure thing in the world? No.
What are you barking at? Hey, knock it off. Anyway, um but I'm kind of known for doing things um that aren't the most secure, but we'll get it done. So, I don't want this door to ever be opened really. So, it's got I mean, it came with two dead bolts already.
And I'm going to throw this multiund lb cabinet right in front of it. The cabinet itself is not that well. I mean, it is heavy. It's probably 100 lb, but it is filled to the brim with car parts and chemicals. So, you'd have to be [ __ ] Hulk Holan or the Hulk to open that door after this is in front of it.
Um, I'm going to have to lower these adjustment feet just a smidge to clear that up there. Um, and hopefully we will gain a ton more space.
in the garage.
As I predicted, it just barely fits.
So, we are like 1% the way there of uh cleaning up the garage. Um, and new uh washer dryer is here. Went out, picked them up with my bare hands, threw them on my back, walked home. Just kidding. Um, real nice looking. Um, definitely didn't get absolutely bent over, that's for sure. But, um, yeah.
So, we're going to hook these up. Of course, they gave me the wrong stacking bracket. So, I got to go back and get the other one cuz why would they give me the right one the first time? And, um, that'll give us a bunch more space rather than taking up like this whole wall. So, that way I can kind of just stack them. Boop. I might have to yank out that cabinet, which I want to get rid of them anyway. Um, yeah. So, there's that.
And, uh, we'll see how far I get in the garage.
In typical fashion, um, because I can't just do one project at a time, uh, I'm moving the garage. I'm, uh, putting together a washer, dryer. Um, and now I am on to the next project, even though those two have definitely not been finished. Um, Doug is, as always, supervising.
A little tired.
Um, so we've got a nice little L-shaped um like breakfast uh seating area that should fit perfectly right here.
which is why that the new little fancy lights right there dangle. Um because of this uh thing. I don't even know what it's called, but of course it came in 7 million pieces. So, we're going to get cracking on that and Doug's going to watch me um tear my back apart even further. Um so, here we go. Moving on to the next project because I don't like finishing them, which is actually this one is finished.
Um, just took me a few extra hours cuz I got sidetracked by another one. Washer dryer is in. They are stacked.
New lines are in. And this is a fancy steam one. Little steam fresh. Um, super nice. Can't complain. Minus the price tag. That kind of hurt, but whatever. You'll get over it. I'll get over it.
You know what I think is really funny?
>> What?
>> Do you want to know what I think is really funny?
>> Correct.
>> How Lennia's project has turned into my project somehow.
>> You did it on your own accord.
>> What's that?
>> You did it.
>> I don't own an accord.
Anyway, back to slaving away because she beats me. I'm abused, guys. What's the hotline number? I need help.
So, in typical Lineia fashion, she watched me build it and then helped me lift it.
I think it looks pretty good, you know.
No thanks to myself. Like, definitely not like a pat on the back or nothing, but um now we just need a little table for the light. Hold on, let me go here.
Doug thinks it looks pretty good, right, Douglas? Oh, maybe not. Douglas, do you not like Oh, he does. Um, anyway, so there's our little uh L-shaped table chair, and it's got nice little storage underneath of it.
I didn't put in the dividers cuz I feel like they kill space.
Very nice.
>> Very nice.
