[00:00:08]>> [music] >> Alabama could have been a study for a cloud atlas today. And uh the region Skycam Network has been a perfect witness to it throughout this gorgeous Saturday.

[00:00:24]How about some virga over the Tennessee Valley? A little bit of rainfall not reaching the ground. The uh dew point spread too big. It's been as high as or as big as 20° today. Beginning to uh moisten up the atmosphere, uh closing that gap now. Uh but uh the uh atmosphere just not allowing this rainfall to reach the ground. 73° at our camera side atop Monte Sano overlooking the city of Huntsville. 61° is the dew point now. Just a beautiful look as we close out this Saturday afternoon. How about Albertville with the uh sun beginning to set? A little patch of blue right there. Uh the uh thick altostratus clouds in the distance. Little patch of blue right there as well. 79° uh in Marshall County. It's been a beautiful day there, too. How about Birmingham? Uh just uh a little earlier there was a little patch of clouds that moved over. I just had to stop on the street uh and take a look at it. This looks like a painting, though.

[00:01:26]79° dew point of 56. A light northerly wind uh not gap closing the gap at Birmingham just yet. But the atmosphere will be moistening up. But a beautiful late afternoon here. East Chilton County, another sky that is just unbeatable. 80° here. Just uh look at the cirrus. Uh some uh cirrocumulus. A little bit of everything going on across Alabama today. I am just enamored with these skies. How about this ocean? The Gulf looking beautiful. So he's running less than 1 ft. Low rip current risk for the foreseeable future at least through the early part of the week then things will turn moderate but we'll probably keep those yellow flags through at least midweek. Lots of folks getting ready for the sunset some heading in for dinner tonight 79° at Gulf Shores.

[00:02:20]Here's the satellite looking down from above did see a few showers along the sea breeze. They work their way into the wiregrass parts of Geneva County there nothing much to write home about but it will take anything we can get. You can see that convergence there the deeper moisture little bit of low level convergence moving in the high level movement this disturbance moving across bringing some clouds. 90° at Selma today everybody else has been in the 80s. We're going to see a lot more 90s in coming days and let's talk about that. Overnight tonight maybe an isolated shower mostly just there to moisten up the atmosphere. By morning upper 50s lower 60s across the state partly cloudy skies. All this convergence in Georgia tomorrow might flirt with the eastern counties maybe from Cleburne County up through Cherokee into DeKalb possibly Jackson County the higher elevations of northeast Alabama could see a shower here little shower or a thunderstorm with a little bit of instability as well. Most of the state though sunny tomorrow mid and upper 80s getting close to 90 in a few spots. You see the places that the model is picking out that we might see those 90s tomorrow. Another surge of moisture tomorrow night to the east could see some fog tomorrow morning and again Monday morning in the southern sections of Alabama specially coastal areas where that moisture is coming in Going to be a lot warmer Monday morning. Low to mid 60s across the entire state. 70s in Mobile and Baldwin County. Another warm day during the day, only isolated showers and thunderstorms. Mid to upper 80s. A couple of spots touch 90 as we go through the day. Overnight, Monday night into Tuesday, skies becoming mostly cloudy.

[00:04:16]Maybe a few showers over the northwestern part of the state. Nothing really to write home about still, but they'll be there. Temperatures though going to be in the upper 60s to near 70.

[00:04:26]During the day Tuesday, we will see more in the way of showers and thunderstorms as our moisture levels continue to rise and the front begins to impinge on us from the northwest. Few showers and storms over northeast Alabama. They shouldn't be severe, but they could have some winds in them, gusty winds, and some lightning and thunder. Sea breeze front brings some showers to south Alabama. A lot more folks touching 90 on Tuesday. As we go into Tuesday night, another warm one. Most folks around 70 by the time we get to Wednesday morning.

[00:05:00]Now, just looking at the new European data from this morning, dry for your Sunday. Maybe a shower over eastern sections, like we said. Monday, a little better chance of a shower, especially over eastern sections. And then Tuesday, maybe the European not as bullish, but a few showers showing up late in the day on Tuesday. Much more likely on Wednesday as this front approaches the Shoals here by noon. Showers and thunderstorms, the chances will be ramping up. Some of those could be strong, not expecting severe, but they'll they'll be something that we'll be watching. Same thing for Thursday.

[00:05:37]Front in the area. Not enough wind shear for severe weather, but strong thunderstorms, gusty winds, some small hail, and lots of lightning will be the problem. Friday, front still in the area. We need the rain. We'll take it.

[00:05:51]We'll watch for strong storms again.

[00:05:53]Looks like Saturday, the the battleground between the height of the east, the trough weakening the ridge over us, keeps us in some rain chances.

[00:06:03]That continues into Saturday night as well. We need the rain. Here are the outlook Here is the outlook for that rainfall. Now forecasting uh about 1 and 1/4 to 1 and 1/2 inches areas along and north of US 278. About a half inch down to 1 inch down to the I-20 corridor with 1/2 inch or less the further south you go. And this is where we really need the rain. 7-day forecast for the northern half of Alabama. Warm is the watchword.

[00:06:37]We're well into May, but these numbers are even above normal. Best rain chances Wednesday, Thursday. Got to deal with the rain chance for Friday and Saturday, but we'll take it even though there are lots of outdoor activities planned.

[00:06:50]Southern half of Alabama, more of the same. Some fog for Sunday morning, some fog for Monday morning. So, watch out for that. Could be some obstructions to visibility if you're out driving tomorrow. Mariners, keep that in mind, too. 90s are going to be on the board Monday through Thursday, again on Friday, little bit cooler on Saturday now by the outlook.
