IF I BLINK, THE PLANE CRASHES...
Added:I have to blink. I'm not good at not blinking. I always lose at those challenges.
Now, in today's video, it's finally time again to talk about the holy grail of flight simulation improvement. This thin little stick made out of metal, the Toby eye tracker 5. Yes, Toby reached out to me again to support my channel and have me talk about their eye tracker, which right now is on a 15% sale. Link is in the description. But not only that, right now there is also a giveaway happening, a sweep stake where you can win a Toby eye tracker 5 indeed. And well, this one I have had for quite a while and it still works like the first day. It is so easy to set up. I've set it up on a normal flat monitor with the included mounting kit. Right now, I am using a curved monitor. So, I'm using the included curved monitor mount. And all that is required to do is boom, put the magnets to work. And just like that, your Toby eye tracker is connected to your monitor. The rest is plugandplay.
Plug your USBA into your computer. And you will see the infrared sensors come to life. Now, all that's left for you to do is download the Toby Game Hub and quickly calibrate your device to the size of your screen. So, let's just pull these right here, these bad boys here to the There we go. That already fits. And now we need to calibrate this. So, we have to look down there at this thing.
Yeah. Look there. Look there. And look there. And now our calibration is done.
And we can start using this. And you can see I can preview my gase so you can see where I'm looking at. But just right off the bat, this is of course supported [music] by Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Actually, this game natively supports it. As you can see, Toby settings can be found inside [music] the game. You don't even need any of the game hub software.
But let's talk about support. Um, it's a lot of games. It is a lot of games, including XPlane 12. Oh, and yes, look at it working in the Microsoft Flight Sim. This is actually quite nice.
I mean, for pilots, the most important thing is peripheral vision. The problem is a small monitor like this one really only gives you a percentile of peripheral [music] vision you need.
Sometimes you need to look to the left, sometimes you need to look to the right.
Oh my god, this is great. Even for taxiing, even for turning on your plane easily. Look at the comp panel. And this isn't only helpful, of course, in like a crazy crosswind situation. Oh, look. Our wind is coming to from from the left.
So, we need to see over here. Look at I'm tracking the runway with my eyes.
Now, this could be it could even be helpful just moving a little bit so you can see the runway better. Wonderful.
Now, of course, no matter how crazy your glasses are, still work very stylish. Of course, this uses infrared instead of any cameras. So, this works at night as well. Oh, the gear isn't down. Let's go and put that down right now. Okay, let's check for everything. Flaps are down.
See, we can now place our hands on the controls and don't have to like use a mouse cursor or anything to view around.
This is proper piloting. Now, scan the instruments. We're good. We're [music] actually messing up this landing really bad, aren't we? All good. Everything is set. And let's get landed now. That was kind of That's kind of not not that good of a landing. Uh, let's bring the speed breaks out immediately. Perfect. And this is why the Toby eye tracker is so popular in the piloting community. Oh, and we've done some great challenges with this one. For example, last year I tried to fly an airplane with my eyes.
So, eyes down means planes down. Eyes up means plane up. Eyes right mean plane right, left. You do not. It's very easy.
But you know what? I have a brand new idea. Do not underestimate the even scientific power of the Toby eye tracker. For example, you know what else Toby is capable of? It can detect eye blinks. Look, I am blinging right now. And I can actually make the blinks do some things.
For example, blinking left, I can make it make a left mouse button press. So, how about I try to control an aircraft with my blinks? I have also a soundboard. Left, left, [music] left, left, left, left, left, right, right, right, right. This is right.
No, but yeah, but no. But yeah, but >> why don't I sit back and relax and try to turn on a 737 with a Toby eye tracker.
>> Left, left, left.
>> Yes, like that. [laughter] >> Right. So, first of all, let's go and select the APU. Left.
>> Yes. There we go. It should start off in a jif. It might turn on the fuel pumps.
>> Left. Yes. Left. Right. Left. Left.
Left. Okay. A few power is available.
Let's go and click that. Left.
Yes. Left. Left. Yes. Left.
Left. There we go. Turn on the nav.
Left. Right. [laughter] >> Okay. Let's see if we can get the attention started up. So, APU is already on. That is great. Let's turn on the EPU bleed.
>> Left, left, left. Yes, all of this should be good. And we should be able to actually turn on the engine. So, let's do that. Left. Yes. And as you can see, the engine number one is turning on its N1, which we're very much able to see in the walkound mode as well. We're of course >> we can do this. So, by the way, let's turn on right.
>> Yes, the sound is starting to get annoying. Yes, as you can see, the engine is properly taken.
>> And this is kind of like near VR, you know, you can actually view around the cockpit, which is amazing. Let's go and reduce throttle. There we go. Time to turn on engine number two as well.
Beautiful. Okay, engines are ready to be activated. Left, left, right, right.
>> Yes. Beautiful. Look at this, ladies and gentlemen. Let's get the fastest seat belt signs on. Left.
>> Yes. You know, this is incredible. With just my eyes, I've been able to turn on a plane, which I think is just an incredibly cool demo of the hardware capabilities of this thing. Like look, the mouse cursor is following where I look and that's just so realistic.
>> Now final challenge. Can I use the flight management computer? Left. Left.
>> Yeah, I can. There we go.
Initialization. Left. Left. Yeah. Clear this message. Left. Left. Left.
Yes, I have. Yeah. And left. Left. Left. YES. YES. I'VE MADE IT WORK. As you can see, look. I've been able to fully prepare this airplane for a departure. And that is just incredible with just blinking and eyeing which is pretty stupid actually as well. And how well this works here on the Airbuses as well. We've got full situational control. Hello sir without eyebrows.
Actually we need to wa we need to definitely increase our speed now. Let's do that really quick. No problem. As you can see the flaps aren't down yet. So let's go and change that really quickly.
You know what? I have an idea for a different challenge. Why start up the airplane with blings if we can make blinking a challenge? Let's make this really sensitive to blinking indeed. And now whenever I blink, make those blink sounds. And whenever I blink, it presses F12, which increases the sim rate.
Basically, yes, it makes the sim go incredibly much faster. The challenge is do not blink. Let's do a bit of a test now. Uh-uh. Huh. Huh. Huh. Huh. Okay, we're at sim rate x16, which is unflinable. So, we've died. Oh my god.
OH MY GOD. SIM rate x64. This is going to KILL MY COMPUTER. STOP. But you know what I can do to be brilliant? Put sunglasses on. No way we'll be able to detect my blinking.
Oh, yeah. It still does. Well, okay. I guess this is hardcore now. We have to keep our eyes wide open and try to come in for a landing. Landing flaps down.
Emergency scenario. We cannot blink. I have to blink. I'm not good at not blinking. I always lose at those challenges.
Ah, we now right. Oh no.
Okay, that's been an absolute death.
I've definitely been able to find an unbeatable challenge. Let's try this again. Okay, let's give this another shot. A nice shot. But first, after refreshing the eyes a little bit.
All right, let's do this. Make them nice and wet. There you go. Okay. Oh, I blinked just literally the second we started. That's how you do it. No talking.
I have to blink. Fly this plane even in double. Like it's impossible.
>> Yes, that's been a normal landing. We've done a normal landing on final. Uh-oh.
Yeah. Yeah. Now we can do it. No problem. Everybody, we have landed at 480 ft per minute. And my computer is dying because of the many blinks.
Everybody, the insane capabilities of the Toby eye tracker. Once again, check it out in the description right now.
Thank you so much to Toby for sponsoring this video, and I'll see you guys tomorrow. As always, good night.
