Attorney Mark O'Mara Discusses the David Burke Trial

[00:00:00]David Burke, or the rapper known as David professionally, is being charged with murder and few other cases [music] for the death of Celeste Hernandez, a 13-14 year old girl who was at one point seen with him and may have been involved in a relationship. [music] So much of what we do is now online. It's all digital. And that makes the law enforcement job sometimes much easier. And therefore, the defense [music] team's job much more difficult. He's going to have to have an explanation for why he decided that he needed a couple of shovels. But that's just the beginning. He also ordered online a burn cage. [music] All of that information, when you just look at that just the way I've said it, your mind automatically goes to well, he's guilty.

[00:00:44]And there may well be explanations, but the point of this story is >> [music] >> it is so much easier now for law enforcement prosecutors to gain information because of our digital presence. So I'm not suggesting if you're going to commit a crime, don't do it digitally, [music] but it is unquestionable that from the past 10 years and certainly every day forward, that there's so much of our information online digitally that the whole context of criminal investigations going [music] to change to one where your iPhone and computers like that are going to carry the day as far as digital information and probable convictions.
