During flash flood events, authorities close low-water crossings and issue warnings to avoid traveling through standing or rushing water, as even shallow moving water can sweep away vehicles and cause drowning; the key safety message is to 'turn around, don't drown' when encountering flooded roads.

Heavy rain, flash flooding hit Central Texas Friday night追加:
But threat continues into the night.
Let's take another look at the low-water crossings closed across our area right now, which you can find on atxfloods.com.
There are currently 16 crossings closed, mainly concentrated around Georgetown and Marble Falls. If you are in a car and you come across standing or rushing water, you're urged to turn around.
Don't drown.
Heavier and more expansive downpours are most likely lasting until midnight tonight through lingering isolated downpours that could continue through the overnight hours and early Saturday morning hours. We are seeing some dangerous flooding along the San Gabriel River tonight. The North Fork of the river was very high before the sun went down tonight. That's where CBS Austin's Adela Uchita is live for us tonight.
Adela, there is still rain coming down.
That water is a big concern.
>> That water really is a big concern. And yes, you can probably see this rain still coming down. It is too dark to see the San Gabriel North Fork behind me along River Road E Boulevard in Georgetown. But at last check, it was measured at 13 ft above what it was when the rain began. Now, we caught some video of that raging water along the North Fork of the San Gabriel River upstream from where we are right now.
This was on the other side of Lake Georgetown. The water was over the road on County Road 258, and it was rising rapidly at yet another crossing that was near Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The water there flows into Lake Georgetown, and we are now on the other side, so we could still see that swell of water coming over to this side. Earlier today, we spoke to a man who lives in an RV park along the San Gabriel River that flooded just a couple of weeks ago. He said he was ready to leave if he has to.
>> We're pretty much packed up as packed as you can get, you know.
>> Mhm.
>> So, we just got to back up and leave if we have to.
>> Now, that alert the National Weather Service sent out earlier this evening warned people who got it on their phones that this is a dangerous and life-threatening situation and they also urged people not to travel unless it is to flee rising water or because of an evacuation order. Live in Georgetown, Adela Uchida, CBS Austin News.
>> Well, CBS Austin's Andrew Parsky is in Leander where we're still seeing rain pour over the area as well. Andrew, what are you seeing out there? Any concerns from officials right now?
>> Yeah, well, officials have been out in the area that we're at. Clearly, we're in Williamson County between Leander and Liberty Hill right now on County Road 279. Behind me, you can see this road is closed heading north. So, it says when flooded, turn around, don't drown. That obviously is the key message tonight and we've seen several drivers following that advice. Right now in my eyesight, I can see a few people turning around, avoiding this road closure. Right now, we've seen videos of the road behind me.
There's a creek that was flowing over the road earlier this evening. Right now, from what we can see, you can't see in the dark right now, but that road looks passable right now.
Obviously, these roads remain closed for, you know, an abundance of caution.
Again, the signs, a good reminder to drivers tonight, turn around, don't drown. Walt.
>> Thank you. This can change so quickly.
