[00:00:15]Now this rings true for a lot of people and you know what? It sometimes it takes a minute for you to really get rolling, but you got to lock in, okay? You got to do what you need to do for you and your health and just quite frankly being able to move around with as few medical problems as possible, okay? So start your diet, but please still have fun, enjoy things in moderation. I don't cut out the things that I love. Just Life would be miserable if I did. But it it says 3 years, right?

[00:00:37]I've been ringing the alarm on Nike stock for about 3 years.

[00:00:43]I've been ringing it for about 3 years, but now all of a sudden because Brian Windhorst wants to get up and say something about Nike stock is down and it's affected because according to, you know, the UBS analysis that he read, uh the people in that room believe that NBA players aren't as popular as they once were.

[00:01:08]And so everyone ran with Nike is saying our basketball division isn't doing as well because our athletes aren't as popular Just yesterday um I think UBS you know, Nike's stock is Nike's uh um Nike's production and you know, Nike's revenue and has been really down and Nike's stock has been obliterated over the last uh you know 24 months or so 18 to 24 months.

[00:01:43]And you know, this analyst uh at UBS, you know, and by the way, the analyst at UBS doesn't care. Like they're not trying to get aggregated. They're not trying to go viral. They're writing to their investors. And they basically said that part of the reason that Nike is selling fewer basketball shoes is that basketball players aren't as popular as they used to be.

[00:02:03]And so like that is the reason that that is worth paying attention to is because that's an independent arbiter who only cares about the data. And that's science, too.

[00:02:12]Um but you know, Nike can look at it and say this is a problem. Our stock is down.

[00:02:17]Our revenue is down. Like Nike's like we got a problem here, you know. The NBA is like haha our stock is up enormously.

[00:02:24]Our revenue is up enormously. Don't tell us When did Nike actually say that?

[00:02:30]Did I miss I know breaking news happens all the time. Trust me, I'm in WNBA free agency still. Okay, I I was I was in the thick of it, okay?

[00:02:39]So I'm used to a lot of breaking news right now.

[00:02:42]Did I miss Nike hiring Brian Windhorst in some pivotal role?

[00:02:50]I don't think I did. I don't watch ESPN around the clock as I used to like when I was in undergrad, but all I'm saying I don't think I missed that.

[00:02:59]So Brian stating this on screen wasn't Nike saying this is the reason that their stock is down.

[00:03:08]There were a bunch of individuals, I'm sure very bright minds.

[00:03:12]And this is what they concluded on why Nike stock is down.

[00:03:20]I'm not in those rooms, so I don't want to just say like you guys are wrong but I don't think that's it.

[00:03:32]I don't I don't think that's it.

[00:03:35]It certainly has felt that you know, the the same hype and the you know, the hold that in the NBA had, it felt like it was waning a little bit within recent years, but if you look at their stats like right now for viewership, it's through the roof.

[00:03:54]Even with us having to flip through 20 million different streaming services to be able to watch a game. Now I actually do like the playoffs being on Prime. I'm I'm Prime and Peacock. I'm not mad about that. As of right now I have Xfinity, so I'm I'm not mad about the whole Peacock [laughter] streaming because I don't have to pay for it. That's essentially included in the what I pay already. So I'm not mad about that at all. And for Prime I have access to that, so I'm able to watch it. No issues there.

[00:04:18]But in being able to do, you know, having to navigate all of that, people could be tuned in and I know they are because of the degeneracy in this country when it comes to sports betting.

[00:04:29]Like you you think, okay? You think just regular consumerism is a problem in this country? No. Gambling addiction, that is the real problem in this country. I'm not going to get into that in this video, but that is the real problem in this country and it's only going to get worse as people get more desperate and they're just trying to make a dollar and it's certainly to make a quick dollar.

[00:04:49]But viewership is up, so people are watching. We've never been more connected to these players than we are right now.

[00:04:56]I know NBA players aren't necessarily as interactive, let's say, as some of the NBA players are and you know, totally understand why because fans are crazy.

[00:05:04]And KD is having to check them all the time. So I I I have no I have much respect for players that choose to kind of abstain from interacting. Protect your peace. Do you. No problem.

[00:05:13]No problem with that at all.

[00:05:15]But we're more connected to them than ever before.

[00:05:17]We're following them from you know, high school the pros through being drafted. You see their entire journey. You see the brands that are associated with them and that align with them. You see their foundations what they're doing in the community. You get to see some of their personality like we're connected to the players.

[00:05:36]That has nothing to do with why people are not buying these shoes right now.

[00:05:40]And why is like this the this is what jumped out?

[00:05:43]Not paying attention to any of the ground that Nike overall has lost. Nike being in the tank and in the trash when it comes to their stock right now, it's not just because of basketball. It's like people have amnesia and they forget that Nike was built on running.

[00:06:01]You were built on running.

[00:06:04]And at some point you didn't realize you were giving ground to your competitors in what you were built on.

[00:06:13]Yes, you made your mark in basketball.

[00:06:15]Absolutely. We had Converse and and and Adidas as the giants before they were able to bring Jordan in you know, for his rookie season.

[00:06:25]But to give up ground in running is the real problem. And I'm not sure why that's just like going over people's heads. Uh quality control is something that so many consumers talk about even in my comment section.

[00:06:41]I'll do a video on other brands and the value I feel is there. It can be in New Balance. It can be in ASICS. It can be in Adidas and Saucony and Hoka and Brooks. It can be in so many other competitors for Nike of Nike.

[00:06:57]And people are happy to sound off. They stopped buying Nike years ago because the quality just wasn't there for them anymore. They would pay north of 140, 150, 160 for a shoe and the shoe is breaking down before they've even really gotten any real wear or life out of it.

[00:07:12]So the value is diminished.

[00:07:15]As people's dollars already aren't stretching as far. So when you do choose to spend money, you want to feel like value is there for you. A lot of consumers feel like it's not there for them when it comes to Nike. Comfort.

[00:07:28]This is the drum I've been beating, okay? [laughter] And I know some people have said like Jordan brand because of course they're under Nike, get back to making like these Jordans comfortable. You know what I started to question though. Were they ever really comfortable like that?

[00:07:43]Or was it just because it looked really good and when you are young, you are a kid in your teens, in your 20s it looking good, I think it will mask what something actually feels like on.

[00:07:54]You'll suffer a little bit to look fly when you're young.

[00:07:57]You will. You will suffer a little bit to look fly when you're young, but when you get older, it's not worth it.

[00:08:05]Your feet doing more talking than you're doing at a function, it's not worth it.

[00:08:09]It's not worth it at least for me anymore. Not at this age of 36, [laughter] okay? It's like it's not worth it for my feet to be screaming. If I'm in a pair of sneakers, I'm already a woman that doesn't wear heels. You would think everything else I would wear would be comfortable. If I'm going to suffer, I might as well put on heels and just be a baddie walking around, okay? Just I was just not blessed with the heels, okay? Just I wasn't. There are so many times I want to be able to to throw on like, you know, the baggy cargo pants and throw on the heels and just, you know, a cute little tee. It just it doesn't work for me. But I'll be damned if my feet are hurting at this stage in life even while wearing sneakers. I'm just not doing that.

[00:08:45]So the value just isn't there for people. Comfort, not really there for people.

[00:08:51]The range and what's being offered it does it seems to have slipped and faltered by Nike because quite frankly though the rumors that they will hold back their designers and the things that they're truly capable of, I believe there's some truth to that. So everyone else gained ground.

[00:09:09]More options, more risk, different models, different tech.

[00:09:13]Other brands were also tapping into the culture in a very important and special way. They're meeting consumers where they are.

[00:09:21]Think about New Balance with Joe Freshgoods. They give him full autonomy to really just do what you do.

[00:09:27]We trust you.

[00:09:29]Now he gained that trust because he was able to literally go toe-to-toe with Ye during All-Star Weekend on a New Balance versus what we saw him doing with Adidas. That that buys you that buys you trust that builds the rapport.

[00:09:45]And he's been able to take New Balance to to new heights. Now they also get to move a little differently because they're not they're not publicly owned, which I think is a plus for them.

[00:09:54]But Joe has been able to do what Joe has been able to do because he does have that freedom. I don't allow myself, even if the Some people might get over me or whatever. I don't I don't allow myself to fall off. Like I'm never going to fall off.

[00:10:07]Like clip that up. I'm never going to fall off.

[00:10:11]And how many consumers connected with Joe because they had never given New Balance a chance or worn it?

[00:10:17]And New Balance wasn't something that Joe was was walking around in every single day.

[00:10:22]But that partnership made sense. It was real. It felt true to Chicago and to him and it opened a lot of consumers up to what New Balance has to offer, the value that is there.

[00:10:38]This is such a scapegoat to put this on the athletes because if we want to keep it a buck, >> [laughter] [gasps] >> what Nike has dropped the ball so much when it when it comes to, you know, Devin Booker's shoe and them actually like marketing anything in relation to that.

[00:10:55]Ball completely dropped. The first promo they did, cool, right. That man has done more marketing for himself and better marketing for his own shoes than Nike has done.

[00:11:04]The signature athlete >> [gasps] >> Young adults today can admire you. They can be inspired by you.

[00:11:16]However, I don't think they hold that same attachment to needing to necessarily be a carbon copy of you.

[00:11:25]You know, to want to be like Mike so I got to put on the shoes like him and exactly what he's wearing. I I don't It doesn't seem to me that they move that way. And some other people have kind of shared that too when they're, you know, they're with these young adults every day. They're educators. They're seeing what these kids are are doing and interested in and how they move and, you know, just their their behaviors together.

[00:11:43]They're not moving the same as what we did.

[00:11:46]And I think that is also really confusing and frustrating a lot of people in these rooms at brands because them trying to connect to Gen Z and to Gen Alpha, it's proven to be a struggle that I don't know that a lot of, you know, marketing departments have seen.

[00:12:01]The the stories of yesteryear don't mean anything to them.

[00:12:05]They don't even mean anything to me, Nike and Jordan, and I lived through the original times that you told those stories.

[00:12:12]You ever had like a elder in your family they keep telling the same story like over and over and over and over and over and over again?

[00:12:19]To the point where you can just go ahead and keep rattling it off like you're mouthing it along with them as they're telling it to you because you've heard it so many times?

[00:12:28]It's what it feels like when they keep dropping the same thing over and over and over again, right?

[00:12:34]So many factors go into this, not just You can't just put this on the athlete not being interesting.

[00:12:42]I didn't It's just such a cop-out. I think it's a I think it's a They're using that I think that's being used as a scapegoat by UBS [laughter] and the analysis they were doing.

[00:12:51]Uh But Nike never came out to say that. So I think maybe that's one of the more frustrating parts to me of like people just chose to run with it. Oh, so now Nike's trying to spin this story. Nike didn't do anything.

[00:13:04]They have their agenda of what they're trying to do to bring, you know, themselves back to what they were, but I think it's funny that everyone wanted to stand here and scream from the mountaintops that 2025 was one of the best years they've ever experienced as a sneakerhead and yet are you still understanding that has nothing to do with the actual health and the market valuation of this brand? Sneakerheads aren't going to keep this afloat.

[00:13:28]Not to the heights of what they were.

[00:13:31]Because sneakerheads are still a niche.

[00:13:33]I understand that this isn't a subculture anymore the way that it was.

[00:13:35]Trust me, I get it beyond measure.

[00:13:39]But the everyday pair, that's what Nike needs to actually be able to sell. Like let's let's really, you know, and I think Matt is 100% right here. You know, they were talking about oh, a Cade Cunningham a signature, right? And people are saying oh, PEs. Do you know how few people actually buy or care about PEs in everyday life? So few. The price of most PEs of what they end up going for on the secondary market, the average person isn't paying that.

[00:14:03]Why do you think resellers are out here fighting for the chance to get a ticket to be able to get a shoe? It's hard out here.

[00:14:10]It It's not easy. It's not It's not what it was in 2020 for them. Okay, so he said a Cade Cunningham signature sneaker isn't what's going to save Nike. It's not.

[00:14:17]This is why I said before, sneakerheads being directly at the table, it needs to be limited, maybe one or two.

[00:14:23]Can't be a whole table of you >> [laughter] >> because that's not going to save them.

[00:14:28]You think moms everyday walking into outfit a family of four in their house You You think that they are caring about a PE? They're not. Okay, so he said uh make their stock shoot up. They need another free run, too.

[00:14:40]Another Roshe. Something you see everywhere.

[00:14:44]Their own Yeezy 350, not another signature shoe. Signatures aren't going to save them just like collabs aren't going to save them. That's still such a small part of who they are globally.

[00:14:55]They're still suffering from tariffs.

[00:14:57]They're still suffering from just increased cost to manufacture.

[00:15:03]That hasn't gone away. They're still feeling the brunt of that.

[00:15:08]Markets are moving vastly different in other areas of the world than in America. And I know Americans are so self-centered that we think well, what we're interested in is what everyone else is interested in. Wrong.

[00:15:21]Feels like we are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to comprehension and being able to think outside of just like what we live.

[00:15:29]China is not falling all over these shoes like people in the US are. Not these specific shoes.

[00:15:36]They have what they they want and they're they're spending and they're buying.

[00:15:40]She's not what you're entering raffle after raffle [laughter] after raffle for. It's not. We're in different times.

[00:15:48]So I think that analysis is wrong.

[00:15:51]Brian backing that up. Okay, hey, sure, maybe that's also what he believes. I also think that's very wrong and unfair to these athletes, okay?

[00:15:59]But now all of a sudden people want to talk about Nike stock. When I was laughing at it not being able to even sustain $75 a share, where was everyone?

[00:16:08]Oh, probably still saying that Adidas would be bankrupt just because they dropped somebody.

[00:16:15]So while their sta- their stock was able to remain way more steady, way more stable.

[00:16:22]And Nike is struggling to even be above what a t-shirt cost?

[00:16:28]Yeah, okay, cool.

[00:16:30]That's my rant.

[00:16:31]>> [clears throat] >> Longer than I wanted it to be, but, you know, whatever. It's pretty much the same thing I've been saying for the past 3 years. So start your diet, okay? Take care of yourself. Get moving. Lift weights.

[00:16:46]Those are some easy keys to a peaceful life, okay? And wear comfortable shoes.
