[00:00:08]In the early morning of April 19th, 1775, British soldiers marched toward Conquered, Massachusetts to confiscate weapons militia leaders had stockpiled there. But midnight riders had warned colonists in Lexington, a town near Conquered, that the soldiers were coming. When the soldiers arrived, they found militia men mustered on the town green waiting for them. An officer ordered them to disperse and they began to mill around and then a shot rang out.

[00:00:36]The soldiers opened fire, killing eight colonists and wounding 12. When soldiers reached conquered, 400 militia men were waiting. Poet Ralph Waldo Emerson later called that first shot fired at Conquered's Old North Bridge the opening salvo in the Revolutionary Ward. The shot heard round the world.
