57lbs Down My Weekly Grocery Haul & Meal PlanAjouté :
Hi and welcome to today's video, which is my Saturday keto-friendly grocery haul. I'm going to do three things today, as I usually do in my grocery hauls. I'll be sharing my meal plan for the week, all of the foods that I've purchased to keep our whole household of seven going, including everything I'll need to stay keto whilst eating alongside the family.
And then at the end, I'll take a look back at some of the meals I ate last week, just letting you see how it looks to stay on track and the delicious things you can plan to eat whilst being keto.
Hi, my name's Amanda. I'm 45 years old and I've currently lost 57 lb following a keto way of eating for the last 8 months. I'm almost at the 9-month mark.
I still have 33 lb to go, but I've been consistently losing weight weight every time I weigh in, which is about once a week, although I try not to be a slave to the scale.
It's really hot today, so I've actually come straight home, laid everything out, and it's not quite as well loaded as it as it was last week. So, hopefully I won't forget anything as I move across the cam.
Firstly, our meal plan, which actually goes over on the wall by the door after this video.
Um we've already made a change to this because we had um some family round this morning for coffee and a bed delivered for one of our children. We thought we'd have time to do a couple of things, do our grocery shop, come home, make hard-boiled eggs, and do a bit meal prep for the week. That has not come to fruition, and it's now 6:15 and we've only just got home with groceries. And if you watch my other videos, you know I'm normally done with groceries by 10.
So, we have just bought some delicious steaks and some signature sausages, and we're going to be having really nice mixed grill type um dinner this evening.
So, I'll share that with you, but that's instead of this hard-boiled egg and bacon salad.
Tomorrow, we've got chicken, slaw, and broccoli. Um that's like a Nando's style meal for everyone at home on Monday.
We're going to have pizza and salad.
It's going to be exceptionally hot here on Monday, about 30°. Um, because it's only just suddenly summer heat here in the UK. It's coming out of the blue. No one's got ready for it. And I know I will only want my oven on for 6 to 8 minutes for those pizzas to cook.
Um, then on Tuesday, we're going out to celebrate my sister's birthday. Actually really significant one because it's my sister's special day, but two because last year when we celebrated this is my before photo. So, um, I'm a year on from that photo that made me realize and triggered my health journey that has currently got me 57 lb down.
We are taking, um, salad, rolls, and diet coke, um, the invisible diet coke there because we're taking, um, lots of children that I know will enjoy a cold fizzy drink.
On Wednesday, we're having, uh, chicken Caesar sandwiches. Thursday, spaghetti bolognese, a nice simple meal. On Friday, homemade kebabs. Um, we've got pittas left in the freezer for all of the pitta eaters. And then next Saturday, chicken burgers because, um, there's a big football game on that we'll all be watching. So, I know I can eat just chicken salad. Everyone else can have chicken burgers.
And here is the groceries that go alongside that meal plan.
Uh, so starting with the change that we've made. So, instead of that hard boiled egg and bacon salad, we're having this really delicious looking thick cut sirloin steak. We actually toyed with the idea of going to a steakhouse on our way home. So, that's when we realized we could just get really nice steaks, really lovely signature pork sausages.
Um, stay keto and save [clears throat] ourselves about 40 lb, I expect. So, we've managed to buy, um, some really nice more expensive meats, um, that we'll have with coleslaw and salad now, but we've still managed to save uh, money by not stopping and eating out on the run. I don't like to deviate from the meal plan. So, cooking at home it was meant to be and cooking at home it remains.
Um, I've also got some free-range eggs.
I normally get large eggs, but the um, shop was completely out when we stopped on the way home today. So, I've just got one box and I will grab another box or two in large um, next time I go because I do still need to get strawberries.
They also had no strawberries that looked good today.
Um, I've got the chicken thighs which we've got on the uh, meal plan for tomorrow. Um, so that will be our at home uh, Nando's meal. I also have a pack of chicken thighs that I can get out of the freezer. That gets the rest of that. Um, the um, coleslaw, they didn't have large coleslaw and I'm sure it's because of the hot weather here.
Um, everyone must have jumped and got coleslaw for barbecues and salads because the strawberries were gone. The coleslaw aisle was just empty. Um, but we'll be having uh, some coleslaw with our salads tonight with the steaks. The other one will we'll share out and have with our Nando's at home tomorrow. And we've got a huge head of broccoli which I know should um, serve everyone. It's literally enormous um, and exceptionally heavy.
So, it's that will serve all of us tomorrow because I'll chop that up and serve it uh, with some onion.
We have some pizzas in the freezer that they will be having on Monday for pizzas and salad. I've just bought myself some mozzarella and cheddar cheese mix which I will use to make myself some pepperoni um, bites. So, I will have my own version of pizza when they're having that on Monday with salad. Tuesday is the day we're out. Um, so we've got we will be taking burger buns, salad, and um diet Cokes. All I got today at the shop was the diet Coke because I wanted the um bread for the burgers that everyone else will be eating at that birthday event to be nice and fresh, and the salad, too.
Um the chicken sandwiches that we'll be making um are going to be just frozen chicken burgers. So, the Wednesday meal, we have frozen chicken burgers um a few of them in our freezer, but I am going to be going to Morrisons. This shop this week came from Tesco's. That's not where I normally go. They didn't have any chicken burgers, the ones we normally get, in stock. So, I'll be popping to Morrisons to get strawberries, large eggs, and the a couple of packs of the chicken burgers that we normally have.
I've got a really large um beef, the 15% fat beef, and that's to make the spaghetti bolognese. And on that night, I'll be serving um myself um some of the meat before I put the bolognese sauce together.
And I'll serve it over cauliflower rice with lime and coriander. So, I'll have like a taco rice bowl.
Um we have homemade kebabs coming, so I have red cabbage in the mix, um lettuce for all of the salads we'll be making, including on the side of dinner tonight.
So, I've got two really large romaine hearts here, some sweet gem lettuce.
Then for alongside the salads, some um red, yellow, and green pepper, some tomatoes, a couple of avocados. I love those with eggs in the um mornings, my first meal. I've also got some blueberries for when I have yogurt bowls.
I've bought lots of carrots and a really large hummus. Um that's for our children cuz they'll enjoy just eating those on hot days in the garden. And then if I run along what's at the front here, I have some salmon for um me one day, probably my first meal of the day. My son and probably myself love this the most, but my daughter and my partner really like smoked salmon, too. So, they'll probably join in and eat that.
This is plenty. It's 150 g.
I have some Italian salami meats underneath here, and that and these chicken drumsticks will be for lunch on Monday because ahead of that pizza meal, which is on there for Monday, we actually have some family coming over for some sandwiches.
So, I have a couple of packs of ham, um some Emmental cheese slices and some cheddar cheese slices, some dips, um and some chicken, which I'll chop up with onion and make chicken salad, as well as the salami selection and the drumsticks. Um we'll have plenty of chips that other people can eat, too. Um and then we've got some seeded bread and some sourdough bread. And just with that and some mayo on the table, everyone will be able to make sandwiches and I'll have salad.
I'm just looking to check I haven't missed anything. Oh, I have. The same day that we have those sandwiches, um I will make lots and lots of tuna salad, so I've got four tins of tuna at the back.
My youngest daughter absolutely loves cheese sauce, um and Morrison's don't sell these anymore, the pots of fresh sauce, not our local Morrison's anyway.
So, I got two of those because they're a deal if you buy two. She will be very happy to know they're in the fridge. We got another milk for everybody, um because we do have some uh oatmeal and granola lovers in the house. Um walnuts, I love to put these on my yogurt bowls.
Um some bagels because they were on offer, and we have some cream cheese that I often cook with, and I know that some of the children will enjoy that for their holiday. There's that cauliflower rice that I'll be having for my taco bowl. Um and then the bolognese pasta sauce, which will be for the spaghetti bolognese night. I'll just jazz this up with some tomato puree, herbs and spices, and fresh garlic from the fridge, um because I've got some garlic puree. Um that will make a great meal for everyone. And then just some shampoo and some face wash to top up one of the bathrooms. So, that is everything for today. Just knowing that I need to go back for those strawberries, extra eggs, and uh, chicken burgers. So, I'll make sure that the haul is completed later on in the week.
I think I've found a corner of the garden that is quiet enough. I won't disturb any neighbors. Um, but in the middle of the week we ran out of napkins. We always have napkins on the table for everyone to grab so that, um, no one's mucking and it doesn't add to our, uh, tremendous amount of washing that we already do with seven to nine people staying here most nights. Um, we have a lot of towels, a lot of hot tub towels, a lot of swimsuits, a lot of clothes. So, I try not to add napkins into the mix, mix, but we do use recyclable napkins. So, we're trying to do our bit for the environment whilst not being able to cope with more washing.
Um, but when I grabbed those, I noticed for the first time, um, OXO brand, two types of bone broth. Um, I have made bone broth before using chicken carcasses and made it myself using celery and carrots and onions. Um, but these were on offer and I grabbed one chicken one, which if you've watched my what I ate in a day yesterday video, you'll have heard me mention I had that for lunch. Um, and I've got one in the beef just to see how they taste. The chicken one was delicious. It honestly tasted exactly like the bone broth I make myself using a chicken carcass. Um, I think the chicken one was 21 calories per 100 mil and these are 500 mil, um, carton.
Um, the beef one is 23 calories per 100 mil. So, you could easily have, um, the whole carton in your day for lunch knowing it's full of nutrients, full of collagen, packed with protein. Um, this beef one is 18 g of protein. So, a really filling, sustaining, um, meal.
My chicken one I managed to use about half in the morning at work, and I topped it up I just heated it up in a mug in the microwave. Um, I topped it up with boiling water, and then, uh, mid-afternoon I had the other half in a mug again, and just topped that up with boiling water. I just sipped on it throughout the day, and it was really delicious. It kept me really full and sustained me right until I got home and had my kebab for dinner last night.
So, if you are interested in seeing, um, me talk about the chicken one of those, um, aside from knowing that I bought them and me just telling you now, they were in Morrison's. They were on offer. I don't know if they are again this week because I've still got one left, so I didn't look. Um, but they're a great option if you haven't, um, had meat and got bones to be able to make your own bone broth. It's just so, so, so good for you and was really, really filling and flavorful.
If you've made it this far, here is a look back at last week's meals. I forgot to take a picture of the salmon meal we had. That is our steak, mushrooms, and broccoli. Chicken thighs with brussels sprouts, we added cheese and tomato. And then this night we made, um, carbonara, and instead of using noodles, um, me and my partner and everyone eating actually had a whole head of white cabbage shredded up and just made the carbonara mix, um, using egg yolks and cooked bacon lardons, and just stirred it all together and added salt and pepper. It was one of my favorite meals of the week, actually. I was really in the mood for that. Um, then I made, um, the chicken, no, sorry. Then I made the courgette Parmigiano Reggiano with the jar that I showed in my last grocery haul. And then last night, that's the kebab that I mentioned I was looking forward to all week to mark the end of term and the school holiday. That's the chicken bone broth I had for lunch. And then, um, when I got home one of the nights in the week, this is just an example of a snack, um, if I'm hungry when I get home and I'm not quite ready to have dinner with everybody yet.
That's the kind of snack I would make.
So, just um lettuce leaves or cucumber slices with cheese and a tiny bit of salsa really satisfies me and just keeps me going until dinner time.
I'm going to go inside now and I will get editing. Um I'll also um show the photographs of the meals that I remember to take last week.
