8 Minutes ago in China! Cities and villages in Chongqing are sinking by FloodingAdded:
According to the China Weather Network, central and eastern China are currently experiencing a wave of heavy rain with varying degrees of secondary disasters occurring in many parts of southern China.
Today, May 25th, heavy rain is mainly concentrated in the Jianghan Plain, Jianghuai Plain, northern Jiangnan, and Chongqing.
Some areas in eastern Hubei and western Anhui may experience heavy rain. The area affected by heavy rain is expected to decrease over the next 2 days as the main rain belt moves south.
On the evening of May 23rd, a new wave of rain began in central and eastern China with parts of Chongqing, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang experiencing heavy rain, some even reaching heavy or very heavy levels accompanied by short-term heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, and other adverse convective weather.
>> Due to heavy rainfall, secondary disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and flooding of small and medium-sized rivers occurred in Yongchuan District, Chongqing from the evening of the 23rd to the early morning of the 24th.
On the 24th, urban and rural areas experienced varying degrees of water logging in Wuhan and Huanggang in Hubei province and Huangshan and Anqing in Anhui province.
This wave of heavy rain has reached its peak. Today, heavy to very heavy rain will primarily occur in parts of southern North China, the central and eastern Huanghuai region, most of the Jianghuai region, most of the Jianghan region, the northern Jiangnan region, and central and northern Chongqing.
Some areas in Anhui, eastern and southwestern Hubei, and northern Chongqing will experience heavy rain, and some areas in eastern Hubei and western Anhui may experience very heavy rain.
Certain areas may also experience severe convective weather such as thunderstorms, strong winds, or hail.
>> Over the next 2 days, rainfall in northern China will gradually weaken and end, while the main rain belt in the south will shift southward, reducing the area affected by heavy rain and decreasing its intensity.
However, heavy rain is still expected in northern Chongqing, eastern Guizhou, western Hubei, western Hunan, northern Jiangxi, and southern Anhui, with some areas requiring caution for heavy or extremely heavy rain.
After the 28th, the main rain belt in China will remain south of the Yangtze River, with its overall intensity decreasing.
This wave of heavy rain is characterized by a wide coverage and intense local impacts.
Hubei, Anhui, Chongqing, and other places have experienced large cumulative rainfall, and local rainfall is particularly severe.
The public should pay attention to local forecasts and warnings, stay away from mountainous areas, river channels, and low-lying areas, and remain vigilant for secondary disasters such as flash floods, landslides, flooding of small and medium-sized rivers, waterlogging in urban and rural areas, and waterlogging of agricultural land.
>> Over the next 2 days, widespread rainfall will continue in Anhui province with the area affected by heavy rain gradually expanding.
The Anhui Provincial Meteorological Observatory predicts that today the entire province will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with heavy rain in parts of the Huai River Valley and northern Anhui. And heavy to very heavy rain in parts south of the Huai River with some areas experiencing very heavy rain.
Tomorrow, Anhui will experience cloudy skies with moderate rain or thunderstorms with heavy to very heavy rain in areas north of the Yangtze River and some areas experiencing very heavy rain. While some areas south of the Yangtze River will also experience heavy to very heavy rain.
>> [music] >> The Meteorological Observatory warns that heavy rainfall will gradually increase in Anhui province over the next 2 days. The public should be alert to potential secondary disasters such as flash floods, geological disasters, urban and rural flooding, and inundation of agricultural land caused by continuous rainfall.
It is recommended to avoid going outside during periods of heavy rainfall and take safety precautions.
