[00:00:12]I'm going to do one cast this evening.

[00:00:17]>> [snorts] >> It is May 15th. This is a Friday.

[00:00:21]I don't have my phone. It's about 6:00, 6:30 in the evening.

[00:00:25]I think they're running.

[00:00:29]It's more than one unit. Might be one and a half. I'm not sure what they're supposed to run.

[00:00:34]>> [snorts] >> Um Today is our 45th anniversary, 45th, 43rd anniversary 2000 and I am getting all the numbers wrong.

[00:00:49]1983 we signed the papers and took possession of Rose O'Dare Resort.

[00:00:58]And uh this is 43 years ago today.

[00:01:03]Time flies.

[00:01:04]And it's >> [snorts] >> even difficult saying 43 years.

[00:01:09]Um It's been a good week. So, you can might see my hat.

[00:01:18]Uh basketball tournament, we won our division.

[00:01:22]Um >> [snorts] >> Uh full disclosure, I didn't play a lot.

[00:01:28]Um I'm telling people that you know, it I've been doing this for 6 years, 5 years.

[00:01:36]And uh playing in this tournament. And uh it's down in Coral Springs, Florida.

[00:01:43]Um There are a lot There's quite a few old man tournaments, basketball tournaments in the country.

[00:01:50]Uh this is kind of one of the ones that Well, they had 130 teams.

[00:01:59]No, no, no, no.

[00:02:02]How many did you say?

[00:02:05]They played 170 games in 5 days.

[00:02:10]>> [snorts] >> Uh it starts at 40 and over they and they go all the way to 80 and over.

[00:02:14]There are guys there 80 years old still playing full court.

[00:02:20]Uh I think there are four teams in that division. There are eight teams in ours.

[00:02:25]And what's happened is and as far as I'm concerned >> [snorts] >> um I I can I can play with a lot of guys but to be in the in the in the some of the better teams in even our division, you you have to play. You got to know how to play.

[00:02:49]And you play physical and uh I'm just not there. Um to be quite honest, I uh the championship game I played the last 4 minutes and that was because we were ahead by 20.

[00:03:02]Um my guys we have recruited or I say George has recruited uh some of the best Well, I shouldn't say the best players in the country but uh as far as this tournament uh we handled everybody.

[00:03:21]Uh we didn't lose any games by less than 19 points.

[00:03:25]The team we beat was from Indianapolis and they had not I heard this they had not been beaten in 3 years uh in the tournaments they play.

[00:03:38]So, it was a good win. It was a lot of fun. The guys I play with are from the DC area.

[00:03:47]Uh one guy is from Boston, one guy is from Chicago.

[00:03:51]Uh Uh, but the guys from DC uh pretty much play together.

[00:03:55]And um uh a lot.

[00:04:00]I say DC area, DC Baltimore.

[00:04:04]Uh one of the guys I talked to and I I I got some understanding um of why there's so many older guys that play ball in that area is that in the DC metropolitan area there's not a lot of golf courses, not a lot of tennis courts.

[00:04:23]Um just not a lot of opportunities to get out and be um uh to play sports for especially if you're older and uh he said just always has been everybody plays basketball. So, um that's why I have so many people our age that still play there.

[00:04:43]Um so Anyhow, it was fun.

[00:04:47]Um we went to Orange Beach after um the tournament and spent 4 days with Megan and Jimmy, my daughter and son-in-law and their three kids uh on the beach and uh did a little fishing there.

[00:05:02]Um went out with a guide and caught some mango snapper.

[00:05:08]Which was fun.

[00:05:10]Well, I'm going to >> [sighs] >> attempt to throw a jig.

[00:05:17]>> [sighs] >> I think I have a 30 second 3 30 second oz. It could be a 16th white.

[00:05:22]A 2 lb line. I'm just below Lookout. I'm going to fish the channel bank and channel going down.

[00:05:31]Um if I remember how to throw a jig.

[00:05:43]I guess fishing's been really good. I talked to a gentleman that's been here this week. Uh he's caught his limit off the dock every day. Done real well. Went out with Blake and caught a bunch of fish.

[00:05:53]Uh not talked to really any of the guides very much.

[00:06:00]I'm starting [snorts] to see some bits and pieces of moss.

[00:06:05]Um So, that's kind of that time of year in May we start seeing some moss coming out of Table Rock, so it shouldn't be too bad.

[00:06:17]Okay.

[00:06:18]Oh, man.

[00:06:23]I am going to be groaning a little bit today cuz we got home Wednesday night and yesterday and today we've been trying to get our pool open.

[00:06:34]So, and I've been in charge of flowers, potting flowers, and all kinds of stuff.

[00:06:42]So, I'm a little sore.

[00:06:50]Stiff.

[00:06:55]>> [cough and clears throat] >> I really haven't heard too many details about the fish. I haven't talked to Blake or anyone else.

[00:07:33]Nothing on the first cast.

[00:07:37]>> [snorts] >> Water looks great.

[00:07:41]>> [clears throat] >> We got I understand we got behind in posting videos.

[00:08:06]This is catching up today. I'm going to post that this tonight.

[00:08:40]So nice. I can just I can see that white jig down there.

[00:08:53]I just lost it.

[00:09:01]We're bottom bouncing or fishing on the bottom in 80 ft of water.

[00:09:07]80 90 ft.

[00:09:09]Using pieces of squid. So it was great for the two grandsons.

[00:09:17]>> [snorts] >> Fish weren't any bigger than 15 in maybe it was a big one.

[00:09:22]We did catch one bonita.

[00:09:31]That the guide took and is going to use for shark bait.

[00:09:44]>> But this trip was a nice getaway for Marsha and I and >> [snorts] >> it was nice to spend some time with Megan and Jimmy.

[00:10:06]It's good to be home.

[00:10:33]Guess I've been using the mop fly doing really good.

[00:10:37]When the water's off in the mornings.

[00:10:39]That and the pink power worm.

[00:12:17]>> I'm kind of looking for some surface action against the bank.

[00:12:22]I'm hoping they might hit a dry fly.

[00:12:31]I haven't seen anything yet.

[00:12:37]I haven't seen any insects, no midges, no [clears throat] um mayflies, no nothing yet.

[00:12:50]>> [snorts] >> I've got another rod that's got a sculpin jig on it to throw with.

[00:13:41]>> I would have to have a follow. Oh, that was a follow but he was way behind the jig.

[00:13:47]They're usually right on its tail.

[00:13:58]He like Oh, here we go.

[00:14:03]Nice fish, though.

[00:14:08]I don't remember how to play him.

[00:14:34]Oh, okay.

[00:14:37]He didn't bite. Super hard.

[00:15:38]Got him pretty close to the bank. I mean, up there.

[00:15:51]In the slower water, I should say.

[00:20:01]>> Yeah, nice. And I can see that jig almost the whole way in. I can see where it is in relation to the bottom, and I can kind of keep it down there close to the bottom.

[00:20:21]I threw it too far that time.

[00:22:18]>> Not very many bites.

[00:22:38]Throw a sculpin jig.

[00:22:48]>> [sighs] >> This is kind of a bleached out sculpin. Actually, it's not It's got a lot of yellow to it.

[00:23:04]I guess it'll be all right.

[00:23:07]>> [snorts] >> It's 2-lb line. Same.

[00:23:17]I'm not going to be able to see this jig.

[00:23:32]Uh I can kind of see it.

[00:25:10]>> [sighs] >> What was that?

[00:26:47]I think it's a big car.

[00:26:53]Yeah.

[00:26:54]It's a big gar.

[00:26:56]Like I said, Is that a fish? No, it's not a fish.

[00:27:06]No.

[00:27:09]I remember saying uh Oh, he's not dead.

[00:27:17]Huh.

[00:27:19]That's weird.

[00:27:25]It's about a four four foot plus gar.

[00:27:32]He was laying on the bottom. He was laying upside down until I pulled up here and then he turned turned around. Let's see if you can see Come on, trolling motor.

[00:27:54]I might have to turn the contrast up on the video, but you can see him laying sideways down there.

[00:28:07]Sideways to the current.

[00:28:11]Weird.

[00:28:14]He was laying a little bit further closer to the bank.

[00:28:18]>> [gasps] >> Upside down. That's why I can see him.

[00:28:25]He flipped back over. I mean, he's I don't know.

[00:28:28]It's kind of weird.

[00:28:33]I I heard somebody say that they were up below the dam not long ago and about a cable water had to be running, but they saw a large number of walleye.

[00:28:58]And I know there's walleye up there, but I don't know about a large number.

[00:29:01]That's interesting.

[00:30:01]Oh.

[00:30:22]Come on, fish.

[00:31:08]>> Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

[00:31:11]Did you eat it?

[00:31:14]>> [sighs and gasps] >> I just missed a big fish.

[00:31:23]I saw a fish down there shaking his head.

[00:31:27]And I'm thinking, "Well, my line's over here." No, the jig goes and it's that way. And so, he had his He had the jig in his mouth shaking his I never felt it. I didn't It was It was bigger than the fish I had I just caught. It was I'm thinking, "Why is he shaking his head?"

[00:31:47]The >> [snorts] >> Uh So, when the line goes down in the water, a lot of times, especially if I don't slow the boat down, the jig goes down and it goes upstream cuz the water is slower on the bottom.

[00:32:18]My jig's up here with the fish chewing on it. And I'm thinking, "Why?"

[00:32:25]I just didn't put two and two together.

[00:32:31]Didn't feel anything.

[00:32:39]Makes you think how many more fish chewing on my jig and I don't feel them.

[00:33:01]Kind of look like a brown.

[00:33:33]Come on.

[00:34:05]>> [sighs] >> Mhm.

[00:36:34]I like this stretch cuz it's not It's not real deep. I can see the bottom all the way across.

[00:37:13]Okay, got some moss on that one.

[00:37:25]Almost down in the narrows.

[00:37:30]One fish.

[00:37:54]Well, I've had the place to myself pretty much.

[00:38:43]>> Okay.

[00:38:46]I could throw a couple times here in the narrows.

[00:38:56]I haven't really done that well going through the narrows lately anyhow. Well, say lately.

[00:39:32]One more.

[00:40:20]>> Okay, I got to quit.

[00:40:25]One fish, two bites. I'm going to count that one as a bite.

[00:40:31]Should have caught him.

[00:40:35]Little slow.

[00:40:39]But it's all right.

[00:40:53]Yeah, I really got to give glory to God on this anniversary of the resort. You know, somebody asked me today yesterday, said, "What got you into this business 43 years ago?" And I said, "It was really the Lord. It was a calling.

[00:41:10]We felt called to to own a business that um involved people, ministry to people, a campground, resort, something because we're outdoors people. We like to fish and um The story is actually it took us 2 years looking down here in this area on Lake Taneycomo to settle on Rose O'Dell.

[00:41:44]Um But when the when the Lord opened the door, it was wide open and we knew it was the right thing to do. So, um and we've been very blessed, very, very blessed.
