Cloud cover significantly affects daily temperature readings, as clouds reflect solar radiation and reduce direct heating of the ground, resulting in milder temperatures during cloudy periods compared to sunny conditions.

Morning Forecast for Wednesday, April 22ndAdded:
8 almost on this Wednesday morning.
Here's Chesley checking out our forecast.
>> All right, clouds in place this morning.
Mostly cloudy skies. Wish there was some rain coming out of those clouds, but not the case for us. We need that rain, folks. But these way these clouds will erode like it was happening up here to the far north. They'll get away and then we'll get some sunshine in here, especially by the time we get to mid-morning into early afternoon. We'll get the sunshine back in. I'd say partly sunny skies by then, mostly sunny skies later afternoon. Looking at temperatures, because of the cloud cover on the mild side, 50s for the most part.
63° right now in Atlanta. Got some 40s up here to the north where does those clouds leaving. So, 44° in Blairsville, 49 and can you may see a couple more 40s popping up before we see that temperature jump up as we head into the afternoon. Yesterday we hit 69 79°.
We'll be in the 80s for this afternoon.
83° our forecast high temperature for today. Again, getting up there above our average. Uh for those of you like the 80s, welcome back.
It's going to stick around really for the rest of the week. They'll be here.
There's the cloud cover. You see a little bit of rain, little wet weather back off here to the west. Not going to make it over toward us. High pressure has been dominating our skies and that continues to be the case for today. High pressure just back off to the west of us and so we'll continue to watch our winds on the light side today. A little bit of sporadic, more southerly as we head into the afternoon. In fact, you can already start to see some of that southerly push getting in here. And because of the wildfires down here to the south, some of that smoke could make its way up into the metro area. I'm thinking more of our southern counties for the most part. A lot of that will start to slide to the north and then back off toward the east.
And so we'll watch that. We got the wildfires down there to the south for today. Some of our biggest fires anyway.
Drought monitor, we're concerned about this as well because of all the dry air that's over us. And so you're likely to expand as we head into tomorrow. That's when we'll have a new drought monitor come out, but you can see the red area here, which is extreme drought, has expanded a little bit further down to the south.
Some of that could expand a little further over toward the west as well.
We're watching for that. It's going to get worse for us, folks, as no rainfall in sight for us. We're down over now 6 and 1/2 inches of rainfall on the year. And so we need to really pick that up. So, we could use some rain. Not going to see it again for the rest of the week. Once we get to the weekend, that's when the rain chance starts to increase. Now, it's not looking at heavy rain coming our way or a whole lot of rain coming our way. We got a front that's going to push into the area, so that by Saturday we're up to a 30% chance for the rain to be around. 20% chance on Sunday. The good news is that the unsettled weather will stick around as we head into further into the work week next week. And so at least through Wednesday of next week we'll hold on to a threat for the rain. So, as long as we have a threat, there could be some rain around and we'll take it at this point.
We'll take whatever we can get. Here's our forecast track model. You see the clouds in place. I think they'll hold on at least through about 10 or 11:00 before they begin to get out of the way.
Partly to mostly sunny skies by the time we get to noon. And then once we get into the heating more, we'll start to see some of these cumulus clouds begin to bubble in. So, again, partly to mostly sunny skies will be the call for the rest of the afternoon. Going to do it again on Thursday. Start you off with the sunshine. Once we get into the afternoon, that's when we'll start to see some of these cumulus clouds begin to bubble up. But we're looking at temperatures again and once again into the 80s. 83° for the high temperature.
We'll do it again on Friday getting up to 85. Partly sunny skies. And then that rain chance starts on Saturday. Sunday 20% chance we'll get up to 82.
Back down to 78° by Monday. We'll have the clouds in place. 30% chance for some scattered showers to be around. Right now it looks to be late on Monday going into Tuesday with a 40% chance of rain mainly during the morning. 81° will be our high.
