We are here to see the Wamui Montoones pyramids and they are very rare circular pyramids. So we're super excited to see them. We've been wanting to actually come here for several years. So let's go check them out. We can't wait to take you guys with us.

[00:23:36][music] Over the past 40 years, the scientific initiatives of numerous archaeologists, anthropologists, and art historians have uncovered only a small part of this reality.

[00:23:49]So many questions [music] remain shrouded in interpretation and hypothesis.

[00:24:01][music] What remains to be investigated will require the work of many generations.

[00:24:13]Each discovery, each new vein of information brings a new thrill.

[00:24:18]Clearly, the architectural layout of the Hatchimon site was deliberately arranged to draw people's attention to the central pyramid. [music] Inside that structure, excavators found four earlier edififices, one built at top the other. In the center, there was a pit with a post embedded to one side that served to stage the flying ritual.

[00:24:46]This is one of a small number of archaeological discoveries that suggest an antiquity for this ceremony of over 2,000 years.

[00:25:00]The flying ritual is well known worldwide. [music] >> [music] >> In some cases, the flying ritual was associated with another called the chain dance.

[00:25:27][music] His [music] golden epic construction lasted from around 350 BC to 350 AD.

[00:25:49]Symbolically, the Tigan tradition focused on those circular edes.

[00:26:01]The pyramid of the Awana clearly shows this pattern of concentric circles.

[00:26:07]Its central altar forms one.

[00:26:10]The exterior border of the patio defines another while a final ring follows the contour of the outer edge of the base.

[00:26:21]10 platforms have been located on that base and drawings from burials in Nay and Halisco show the probable form of the temples that were erected on those platforms in ancient times.

[00:26:35]It is probable that each temple was dedicated to a specific deity or to the ancestor cult of a powerful lineage.

[00:26:42]Archaeologists believe that the more temples found in a particular However, recent archaeological discoveries demonstrate that an ancient civilization did emerge in this region.

[00:27:04]Research since the 1970s by the anthropologist Phil Wayan and Aselia Garcia, an art historian, has brought to light the existence of a society distinguished by the style of ceremonial architecture. manifested in series of concentric circles.

[00:27:21]To date, over 2,000 Greek Hispanic sites belonging to this culture have been identified, including some 430 ceremonial centers distributed mainly in the state of Palisco, but with a limited presence in the modern states of Sinoa, Nay, Kima, Sakas, Guato, [music] Mituakan, and Kito.

[00:27:45]The most important ceremonial center is located just 28 miles from the city of Gualahara in the municipality of Teuchi land.

[00:27:56]In 1999, the collean and the ministry of culture began extensive excavations at the Gui Monton archaeological site.

[00:28:08]The Deian tradition began perhaps as early as 1,000 years before Christ in an initial phase typified by sha burials.

[00:35:28]They say that the pyramid is about 60 ft tall and there's 52 steps to the top.
