[00:00:11]We don't need to be history buffs to know that the Salem Witch Trials were a terrible thing that shouldn't have happened, but I did find out the other day that a lot of the hysteria was [music] thanks to doctors claiming that witchcraft was causing illnesses they couldn't figure out. So, it's super comforting to know that medical professionals blaming women for health conditions they don't understand yet is a tradition we've carried on for thousands and thousands of years. But, it turns out that's not the only modern parallel we can draw from the [music] Salem Witch Trials because we're doing them again, all of it, the whole thing, on TikTok.

[00:01:14]>> And I don't really know why. Like, what is putting on a little mascara have to do with the battle between Autobots and the Decepticons? I like how we constantly hear variations of this on how makeup shouldn't be allowed because it changes our appearance too much.

Witches are in the church, and guess what they are good at, deception. Discernment is the number one thing that is going to reveal if somebody is operating in something other than the spirit of God.

Whenever they're describing the big, bad, scary witches, they're actually just describing regular people that we encounter every single day.

There was no [music] like information that gave specifically witchy. So, you saw a woman on TikTok who wasn't a witch, whose account had nothing to do with being a witch, and by your own admission had nothing outwardly witchy going on, and yet you still came to the conclusion that she's a witch?

[00:10:48]>> And I go to her link in her bio and I'm like, oh, this is like heavily Christian language. And I said, okay.

[00:10:55]Witchcraft confirmed.

[00:10:57]I wonder where we've seen this kind of thinking before. I wonder if there's any other times in history where women have been labeled as witches despite there being no evidence to back those claims.

[00:11:07]Their explanation of witches are so dramatic and demonizing that it kind of feels like the Santa Claus for church-attending adults.

This creator also falls into the selling an online course category, but she belongs in a special subcategory that I found and like to call used to be a witch, but then became a [music] Christian and isn't a witch anymore, but now they spill all the insider secrets and all the hot goss about being a witch as a career now on the internet.

[00:16:39]He's basically writing fan fiction where he has magical powers and defeats the other guy with magical powers because his magical powers are better and stronger. When they talk about witches, they aren't thinking of a person. It's really just a pawn that they're using in order to win battles, except the battles are invisible and made up, so they win every time. Their message is this double-edged sword that makes you suspicious of your community.

[00:17:06]And since most of this is happening online and is coming from people who are ranting in their rooms or in their cars, it's easy to forget the kind of real-world effects this kind of messaging can have and has had historically. The other day I saw this video of a woman getting her hair done at a salon, but for a reason we're going to talk about more in a minute, she has some blood in her hair.

[00:17:29]Wait, why do you have chicken blood in your hair though?

[00:17:31]>> Which is not something that I would personally want to wash out of someone's hair if I was a hairdresser, but these are her friends, they're her regular hairdressers and they did. They show her transformation at the end and she looks amazing. Her new hair is clearly giving her a confidence boost because she's smiling and she's glowing. So imagine my confusion when I looked in the comments and saw this.

She made a comment explaining this and that the blood was there as part of a protection ritual she was doing for herself because she was about to go on a trip, which has now been deleted because people were harassing her and accusing her of causing the death of one of her loved ones.

[00:19:24]A head vocation is completely harmless.

[00:19:26]It's just [music] a head cleansing for like protection. And the animal of choice wasn't even a chicken. I'm not evil, not no demon. I'm not out here trying to get nobody's soul. I'm not sacrificing anything. This is extremely demonic.
