Effective Accelerationism (E/ACC) is a philosophy that advocates for the rapid advancement of technology, particularly AI, without any brakes, regulations, or oversight, prioritizing technological progress over human safety and democratic oversight; this philosophy is associated with figures like Marc Andreessen and the Dark Enlightenment movement, which views democracy as a failed experiment and argues that the smartest individuals should rule, with proponents believing that even if consequences include human suffering, the acceleration of technology is acceptable.

AI: The Big Lie Part 5 — E/ACC: The Philosophy of No Brakes #shortsAdded:
They know AI could replace every job we've ever had. They know it could destabilize society. Their own researchers and safety teams warned them. Some quit and went public.
Geoffrey Hinton, the godfather of AI, quit Google to warn AI could surpass us.
An Anthropic lead wrote the world is in peril. An OpenAI researcher quit over user manipulation. And they accelerated anyway. There's a name for that philosophy. They call it E/ACC, pronounced E Ack, shorthand for effective accelerationism.
They put it in their bios, a dog whistle. If you know, you know. The belief is simple. Technology, especially AI, must advance as fast as possible. No brakes, no regulations, no oversight.
They think this is cool. It's not. It's acceleration at all costs without regard for human life. Anyone who disagrees is a doomer, a decel, a decelerationist, an obstacle. But think about what a decel actually is. Someone who considers humanity before acting. That's not weakness. That's wisdom. And these men are treating wisdom like an obstacle.
Marc Andreessen, one of the most powerful venture capitalists in the world, published a manifesto declaring, "We believe in accelerationism to ensure the techno-capital upward spiral continues forever." Andreessen aligns with the Dark Enlightenment, the philosophy that democracy is a failed experiment and the smartest men should rule. He calls his founder, Curtis Yarvin, a friend. Business Insider described the movement as growth without guardrails, no concern for who gets replaced. They built something extraordinarily powerful. Their own researchers warned them. They heard the warnings. They knew the consequences.
And they pushed for acceleration anyway.
Because the consequences, even if they include us, are acceptable to them. A handful of people, unelected, unaccountable, answerable to no one, deciding for all of humanity that this is how it's going to be? No vote, no consent, no safety net.
The arrogance.
They're not reckless because they don't know better. They're reckless because they built their bunkers and their escape plans for whatever comes next.
Whatever happens to the rest of us isn't their problem. The founder of EAC, Guillaume Verdon, a former Google engineer, told Lex Fridman his goal is to usher in the next evolution of consciousness, creating unthinkable next-generation life forms. He's not talking about us. The Dark Enlightenment says democracy is a failed experiment and the smartest men should rule.
Effective accelerationism says technology must advance at all costs, regardless of human safety or democratic oversight. They're not separate movements. They're the same agenda from different angles. One provides the political blueprint, the other provides the operational excuse. In episode six, we go deeper, how they sold this philosophy to the public and how you almost didn't notice. Follow so you don't miss it.
