Japan, California, Italy, Greece, Alaska Earthquake Risk - 7:29 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2026

This is Luke Thomas Homequist here at the earthquake forecast center.quakeprediction.com at 7:15 in the evening Pacific Standard Time on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 here with the world earthquake forecast for Wednesday, May 27th. And let's take a look at California first and then we'll get to Japan, Alaska, Greece, Italy, Taiwan, Pacific Northwest, and Central America. Starting with California, the risk is building across Southern California. You can see right now it's near the Sultan Sea and just south of Los Angeles. And this is the forecast for tonight into tomorrow. very high risk uh across Southern California, especially offshore Los Angeles, south of Malibu in Ventura County as well, Santa Barbara County, and quite high risk across the Salt Sea, San Diego, and uh Imperial counties, Riverside County there as well. That's tonight into tomorrow. And here the risk begins to build up farther north into Santa Barbara County, San Louis Bispel County, and again still in the Salt and Sea area. Very high risk in that area.

[00:01:16]However, this is the most concerning map right here. Uh the 29th through the 31st. Most likely in the 30th, we'll get a strong earthquake in California in any one of this uh high-risk areas here. There's a lot of uh tangle in the magnetosphere across California and the highest risk is right there in the San Francisco Bay.

[00:01:39]So, please warn your friends and family for May 30th most likely 29th through the 31st. Strong earthquake coming to California and it should be at least a 5.0 zero earthquake in California, most likely in the San Francisco Bay or in the area around Parkfield, Coalinga, or even Northwest LA. Salt and sea is out of the question either, but most likely right there in the San Francisco Bay.

[00:02:05]All right, we'll get back to that in a second. We'll go over to Japan. And right now, the risk is near Osaka, Nagoya, and Kyoto, just south of Shizuoka, Japan. There's a band of electromagnetic disturbance right there. That's right now into the into the 28th and it is the 28th over there right now. It's actually 11:17 in the morning on the 28th.

[00:02:30]And this is the 28th and 29th.

[00:02:34]Quite a risk area here uh just off Hokkaido and northeast of Moroka. And that band has sort of dissipated across Japan, but still remains there west of Tokyo and then down into Shizuoka Prefecture.

[00:02:52]And then a very large area of risk on the 29th and 30th again uh east Moroka, east of Sai and near Hokkaido, Japan on the 29th and 30th. You can check these maps at quakerprediction.com. But then the risk slides down into Tokyo and Ibaraki and Chiba on the 30th to the 31st of May. So again, you can check these at quickprediction.com, these individual maps. Let's take a look at Alaska. You can see most of this risk is in the far north and the southeast.

[00:03:26]However, on the 28th and 29th, the risk begins to build into the southwest portion of Alaska. There was even a 5.6, six I believe today just outside of this picture uh west of that southwest portion of Alaska and then on the 29th the 30th quite a significant uh I believe that's near Sandp Point but down in southwest Alaska strong uh risk in that area entanglement of the magneettosphere and then down near Valdez down to Juno Alaska 95% risk in there on the 29th to the 30th in Greece very high risk in the northwest portion of Greece right now. It's in the 28th of May over there. So, we'll look at this map here. You can see Albania, uh, northwestern Greece, high risk on the 28th to 29th. Same thing on the 29th and 30th and the far northwest in Albania.

[00:04:24]and the 30th to the 31st. Uh the risk moves farther into the northwest portion of Greece on the 30th of May into the 31st.

[00:04:34]And uh so looking for significant earthquake in that area. Italy, we could get a 5.0 earthquake or larger in southern Italy. Um you can see that risk is building on the 28th and 29th in southern Italy. And then right here, the 29th to 30th through the 31st, the most significant uh risk level uh is on the 30th to the 31st of May.

[00:05:01]And they could get a 5.0 earthquake here in the southern portion of Italy from Sicily over to Cosenza, uh southern Italy on the boot of Italy there on the 30th to the 31st. again over quickprediction.com qak prediction.com you can check these maps out Taiwan risk is more uh closer more to uh the Philippines however on this latest map right here the 30th to the 31st you can ste still see that remains down near the Philippines uh 70% in southwestern Taiwan on the 30th to the 31st central uh northwest West Pacific Northwest. The risk builds in on the 27th to the 28th right now in the far northwest near Vancouver Island and then just north of Seattle and Vancouver Island uh 28th to the 29th. And then this same band of electromagnetic disturbance right here that that weaves it way its way through uh Washington and Oregon is also that same band of disturbance that moves down into you can see it here. The there it is in Northern California moves down into California, but you can see it's stronger down here than it is over in Washington and Oregon on this picture right there. But still very high risk in that area. They could get a 5.0 earthquake in that band of disturbance the 29th and the 30th, but most likely that earthquake will hit in in the San Francisco area on the 29th through the 31st and again most likely on May 31st.

[00:06:45]Central America, we'll get back to that in a second. Central America. Um, this is the most difficult uh area of the world to get earthquake forecast because the magnetic field is difficult to detect, hard to find using the uh data that we have. All right. So, right now the 27th, there's a band of disturbance there in southwest Guatemala just offshore there. Then the risk moves more into uh Nicaragua, eastern Nicaragua.

[00:07:16]And on the 29th or the 30th, it moves into Panama and eastern Nicaragua.

[00:07:23]Uh so significant risk there. Once again, let's to uh go to San Francisco area. And we're looking for 5.0 earthquake or larger 29th to the 31st of May most likely on May 30th in the San Francisco Bay. Please warn your friends and family about that. And again, southern Italy, you can get a significant earthquake in southern Italy during that same period. This is based on, excuse me, 22 years of earthquake research at quakerprediction.com.
