American in UK discovers REAL meaning of this... 🇬🇧

[00:00:00]There's one word used in the UK that confused the absolute heck out of me when I first moved here from America and it's because it has so many different meanings. I was just in the Co-op and I wanted to say at one point to this bloke, "You're in my bloody way. Please move." But you know what just came out?

[00:00:16]Sorry. Sorry is such a funny word here.

[00:00:18]It can be an actual sincere apology.

[00:00:20]Most of the time a Brit bumps into like an inanimate object or something. They look around slightly embarrassed and then they realize, "Oh, it was a bollard." And that's one of my favorite things about living here cuz if you're not walking around slightly embarrassed, then are you even living? In America, I never heard sorry. Sometimes I'd hear excuse me or something like that, but for most part, [music] for some reason it was strange. People would just go behind you and just stare into your back until you realize they were there and you turned around and you're like, "Oh."

[00:00:45]And when I was younger in America, I would say all the time. say, "I'm sorry, sir. That won't ever happen again." With no emotion. It was a lie. And here in the [music] UK, I can say sorry with full conviction as I'm thinking, "Move out of the way, mate. The crisps I want right behind you."
