The future of public transportation is being shaped by electric buses replacing diesel vehicles, with major manufacturers like Scania, Daimler, BYD, and Yutong showcasing electric models ranging from 7m to 18m in length, featuring battery capacities from 127 kWh to 411 kWh and ranges of 230-400 km. Simultaneously, autonomous driving technology is advancing, with companies like Karsan demonstrating driverless buses, while hydrogen fuel cell buses from manufacturers like MCV offer an alternative energy pathway. The transition involves not just the vehicles themselves but also supporting infrastructure including charging stations, AI systems for vehicle control, and digitalization of transport networks.

The Future of Buses - BUS2BUSAdded:
I'm in Berlin right now at Bus to Bus.
And this is the future of public transport.
>> [music] >> This is Bus to Bus, one of Europe's most important events for bus technology. And everything is here, from modern coaches to the newest technology. And some buses doesn't even have to have a driver to operate. So, let's go and have a look on the future of buses and coaches.
>> [music] [music] >> Scania is at Bus to Bus with two vehicles. One coach from Irizar, >> [music] >> the Irizar i6s, a well-known coach on the European market. And there is also a bus here I have never seen before, the Scania Fencer F18, articulated 18-m long bus. Irizar have the 13-L engine from Scania with 500 horsepower. Inside it is 61 seats, and it has [music] the new dashboard and display. It is a really beautiful coach.
Daimler Buses is here, but not like Busworld with tons of coaches and buses inside the fair. But they are showing the brand new Mercedes-Benz e in two rows. And Bus to Bus is about [music] the future. And what's better than to show an electric intercity bus. And you know, when you first have your electric city bus, you also now can show an electric intercity bus. So, the next step might be an electric coach. Let's see when we can see that from Daimler Buses. But Daimler have more vehicles here. And here it is coach of the year 2026.
This is the Setra 516 HDH, one of the most luxurious coaches on the European market. And here they also have the eCitaro G, articulated version, 18 m. Is it just me or is the color absolutely beautiful?
>> [music] >> VinFast is here with an updated version of their eB12 that we saw for the very first time at Busworld in Brussels. But now VinFast have [music] a version of the vehicle with license plates. This means we can take it out on the road and drive it. This bus behind me have a total capacity on 90 passengers. With one charge, you can drive for about 400 km. And the maximum power is 2 * 125 kW.
Some new lines that we haven't seen before. I think this is an interesting product.
For more than 30 years, SOR have been the leading Czech bus manufacturer. And here they are with the SOR NS12 electric. This is a company and brand I don't know much about. I would love to get to know them even better. But let's talk a little bit about this bus. It is 12 m long and has a height of 3.2 m. You can configure this bus differently, but this bus have a 2 + 2 + 2 door solution.
It has a power of 160 kW, and both axles are delivered by a set of The battery capacity goes from 274 kWh up to 411 kWh. The seating looks very nice. I like the colors of the seat. And look at this steering wheel. It's the old-fashioned style of steering wheel. But at least they have a digital display [music] to make it more modern for the driver. And outside they even have a diesel version of an articulated bus.
The future of buses is much more than only the buses itself. To get the modern bus, you also need to have technology.
Here we have a lot of different technologies around, different AI systems to control the vehicles, to track the vehicles, different charging solutions. Here we have some EV charging. We have some Mobilize system to help drivers not hitting moving objects. And there's also hydrogen refueling systems here. So, either if you love buses or you're in the supply division, Bus to Bus offers everything for you.
>> [music] >> It's not only inside there is buses and coaches at this year's Bus to Bus. Also outside there is vehicles you can come and take a look at, even test drive. And here we have Karsan with their e-Atak autonomous. And that's been running around here for people to come with an autonomous driver experience. And let's ask ourselves this question. Will the autonomous drive be a popular solution for the world in the future? Or is this just a gimmick that we can develop to help certain areas of the transportation needs? I'm curious to hear your thoughts about the autonomous future for the world.
A very important aspect of Bus to Bus is the Future Forum stage. On this stage, important people are coming to talk about the future of transportation. And today the transport minister of Germany was visiting, talking on this stage. So, here we are discussing the future, how to develop hydrogen, how to develop charging stations for batteries, how to develop the AI systems to create more autonomous [music] buses. It's a very interesting forum if you are interested in the future of public transport.
Speaking about new and modern technology, all the way from [music] Egypt, we have MCV. And they are here with two different buses. One electric 12-m bus. But their most interesting bus here is their MCV C127 low entry fuel cell bus. This runs on hydrogen. Today Europe is far from able to provide buses and coaches with the hydrogen technology. But in the US, [music] hydrogen have been on the market for passenger cars for a long time. If we start to develop the technology, if we start to create more hydrogen fuel stations, I do think this can be a very big influence on the bus and coach market in the future. But let's see.
Right now we are into the electric phase. Let's see if we will ever reach the hydrogen phase. I'm curious to hear what you're thinking about the hydrogen future of buses and coaches.
MAN is here with two different vehicles.
One very well-known Neoplan Skyliner, maybe one of the best double-decker coaches >> [music] >> ever produced. And they're also here with their last year's world premiere, the MAN Lion's City 12 E L E, the first low-floor electric city bus from MAN.
Let's have a look at the stand from Iveco Buses. Here we have the Iveco Evadys, which have become a very popular model in Europe lately. The new facelift design on the bus have really lifted up the sales, and now it's coming out on the European roads. And this bus or coach is a multifunction bus because you can use it as a transit bus, as an airport express, or even just as a clean coach. This version of the bus have a beautiful interior, big luggage compartment because it is a rear door, my favorite solution. This gives you also a rear toilet, which makes this bus very convenient for your passengers. And then we also have the Crossway LE electric, the low-floor version with electric drive line from Iveco. And look at this detail with the blinking Iveco logo. I like it.
BYD is here with a huge range of buses from 12 to 18 m. And all the BYD buses have the blade battery system, which are smaller, lighter, flatter, that gives more space for the passenger and for your luggage. All the way in the back, they do have the B12B LE, the low-floor version of their 12-m city bus. Next to me, we have the B18B, which is the 18-m articulated bus with a great interior.
Look at the details in the roof. I really think BYD is onto something here when we talk about interior. And in the middle, I do think we have the most interesting vehicle on their stand, the B12BHF.
And the HF stands for high floor, which now means we have a high floor class two intercity bus from BYD.
And you know what we just talked about with Daimler? If you first have your high floor intercity class two bus, well, the step is not that far until we get to a class three coach. So, let's see what BYD would come up with in the near future. I really hope that you like our bus content. And if you do, feel free to follow us on TikTok and Instagram as well. From Turkey, we have Otokar. And they are here with their e-Kent. And this is a bus I don't have any road experience with. But traveling through Germany all last week, I saw some Otokar out on the road. So, now they're getting more and more market also in Europe. In Turkey, they are big with small midi buses and their city buses. But now we can see them also coming in here to Europe. And I think it's interesting because I like variety in the bus lanes. Minibus of the year 2025 built by Tribus Mania on the City 75 electric chassis from Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. It's here behind me. It's a beautiful minibus. It has two doors. It is a beautiful minibus with two doors.
So, you can exit both in the front and also in the back. And in September, it's again time to find the minibus of the year 2027. So, let's see. Will Tribus Mania keep their podium or will they have some competitors this year? We have to wait and find out.
Here we have some really interesting buses I don't know nothing about. And this is what I like with this year's Bus to Bus. There is buses here I haven't seen before. This is the Sigma 8 and the Sigma 7, delivered by Yutong and Yutong with Wisdom Motor. The Sigma 7 is a 7-m short, tiny, cute bus. It has a width of 2.10 m. The height is 3.1 m and it has LFP batteries delivering you 127 kWh.
It fits up to 31 passengers and with full charge it can take you for 230 km. And the powertrain is delivered by a Visedo motor. And then we have the Sigma 8, which is a 8 m bus, actually almost 9. Has a width of 2.35 m and it's 3.1 m high. It has a LFP battery with 278 kWh and it can fit 51 passengers on board.
And the battery capacity will give this coach a range of 330 km.
>> [music] >> Another bus manufacturer I don't know much about is the TAM, t a m. They are here with Slovenian license plates, so I guess that they are Slovenian bus manufacturer. And here they are with the TAM 008 and the TAM E12. These buses have a different design I haven't seen before and they are minimalistic. They don't have too much details. You can see the TAM E12 have very small headlamps and the rear light is almost non-existent. You have to really look for it, but maybe it's enough as long as they're meeting the requirement. I think this might be a very interesting vehicle. And the TAM E12 is in lightweight aluminum, so maybe you get more space than for passengers when you're having a more lightweight body [music] because you know, electric buses are heavy and you will lose some capacity.
And there is [music] some interesting buses and coaches here that we haven't seen before. And behind me someone have transformed a Setra to become electric.
Look at this Setra 515 HD, which is now called 20. Really fun to see that someone have converted this very well-known coach to become an electric interesting vehicle that I can maybe take a closer look to one day in the future. BMC is here with a 12 m bus and an 18 m articulated bus.
From Turkey we have Isuzu and they are here with their Novociti Volt. And this is an 8 m long electric bus with a total capacity on 55 passengers. You can charge this bus with a CC2 plug and the battery capacity is 211 kWh. And if you take the bigger battery pack, you can get 268 kWh and the maximum power of the bus is powerful in total, you can drive this bus for 400 km. And I really like the design of this Isuzu bus.
>> [music] >> So what's happening here in Berlin it's not only about the buses, it's how we will move people both in the cities and between the cities in the future. And the future is already here today, which we can see on all the new technology that is showcased here at Bus2Bus. Thank you so much for watching the video here today. And if you like what you see, click down here. The button is called subscribe and then you will see all the future videos from us in Busman >> [music] >> in it. Until next time, drive safely.
Have a great day.
>> [music] >> 5:00 and closing time.
>> [cheering] >> This was a very loud experience.
