LMPD officer fatally shoots man in Klondike neighborhood

[00:00:00]with an update on breaking news we brought you on the night team last night. A man was shot and killed by the Louisville Metro Police Department near the Klondike neighborhood just before 10:00 last night. LMPD said several calls came in at least three people saying they'd been assaulted in the 3000 block of Cromarty Way. That's way north of GE Industrial Park. Officers say the suspect was running down the street naked before the officers got there. An officer found the suspect sitting on the side of the road. Police told him to show his hands but say that suspect didn't listen then walked towards an officer. LMPD Deputy Chief Ryan Bates said that's when the suspect was shot.

[00:00:39]>> The officer issued commands for the suspect for him to stop. However, he continued to walk towards the officer.

[00:00:45]The officer then fired his weapon striking the suspect.

[00:00:48]When backup officers arrived, the officers began to render aid.

[00:00:53]>> And that suspect was pronounced dead on scene. LMPD says they'll release the body camera footage within 10 business days. That's per their usual policy.
