The 2026 Brazilian presidential election is highly polarized, with Datafolha polls showing Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro tied at 45% each in the second round, meaning only approximately 2 million voters (the 1% undecided) will decide the outcome. This polarization extends to state elections across Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Goiás. Additionally, President Lula's attempt to resubmit the rejected nomination of Jorge Messias to the Supreme Federal Court raises constitutional concerns about the separation of powers, as the Senate has the constitutional authority to approve or reject presidential nominations, and reintroducing a rejected nomination would violate the independence of the legislative branch.

There's a new figure in the presidential election. The Christian Democracy party, a very small party with no television time but which wants to participate in electoral life, has officially announced the pre-candidacy of former Supreme Court Justice Joaquim Barbosa for the presidency of the Republic.
Joaquim Barbosa is 71 years old and becomes the party's candidate for the presidency. And Joaquim Barbosa replaces former congressman Aldo Rebelo, who until then held the position of pre-candidate for the party. The announcement was made through a statement signed by the party's national president, João Caldas. In this statement, the DC, the Christian Democracy party, affirms that Joaquim Barbosa represents the possibility of national unity and the rebuilding of the people's trust in institutions.
Joaquim Barbosa was a great Supreme Court Justice, a kind of Justice that they don't even make anymore, and who doesn't have the same caliber as Joaquim Barbosa.
Joaquim Barbosa led the criminal proceedings of the Mensalão scandal as rapporteur.
It was Joaquim Barbosa's votes that served as a benchmark for convicting, among others, José Dirceu, Delúbio Soares, Marcos Valério, and so on.
The Workers' Party gang of thieves was convicted under the legal and absolutely correct rulings of Minister Joaquim Barbosa. Joaquim Barbosa left the Supreme Federal Court far too early.
He resigned from his position as minister, stating at the time that he was leaving the Supreme Court because he no longer believed in the institution, which was being steered towards a reformist frenzy. That's what he was saying at the time, that the Supreme Court was ceasing to be what it should be, which is a Constitutional Court. and that judges the most important cases in Brazil in order to become a house of a political nature.
Joaquim Barbosa's biggest adversary within the Supreme Federal Court was and continues to be Gilmar Mendes. And that alone is enough for us to be able to give Joaquim Barbosa the great value he deserves.
Now, from a political standpoint, he will be an insignificant candidate, because his party will not have any space in the debates, nor on television or radio.
And Joaquim Barbosa's social media presence is also very weak. Could you take a look at that, Pietro?
For example, how many followers does Joaquim Barbosa have? whether he is active on social media or not. Because nowadays, well, a person doesn't have space, their party doesn't have space on the radio or television, but they can also occupy that space on social media. Bolsonaro did that, right? But Joaquim Barbosa, at least I don't see anything he publishes, and neither does his party. I don't even know if Joaquim Barbosa has social media. I couldn't find any official profile on Instagram, Deni.
So, you see, it's a candidacy that's popping up there. If Joaquim Barbosa is given a voice, I think he can occupy an important space in the debate because of his personal qualities.
On social media platform X, he has over 500,000 followers, but X isn't for campaigning, right?
So, finally, there it is: Joaquim Barbosa's pre-candidacy for the presidency of the Republic. 7:7 now.
Mercosur Newspaper, journalism without any strings attached to anyone.
A poll conducted by the Datafolha Institute regarding the Presidency of the Republic has been released. In the first round, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva appears with 38% of the voting intentions.
Next, Flávio Bolsonaro, 35%.
In the second round, there is a numerical tie between the two. Flávio Bolsonaro and Lula are tied at 45% of voting intentions. How many blank and invalid votes are there in this second- round poll, Pietro?
9%.
9% of blank votes, undecided and so on, 1% don't know.
Only 1%. It's that 1% that will decide the election. Did you understand the pressure? this presidential campaign is a polarized election.
9% are living in a fantasy world, white, null, oh, neither one nor the other stay there. It's the group of shoe-wearing kids, the 9% of the EM (Emist) crowd.
And others who don't want to get involved and decide the course of Brazil.
According to Datafolha, 45% are willing to vote for Lula, 45% are willing to vote for Flávio Bolsonaro, and 1% did not know or did not express an opinion. 1% don't know, right? These are almost 2 million Brazilians, these almost 2 million Brazilians are the ones who will decide, these 2 million Brazilians are the ones who will decide this way or that, this group of 1,800 is the one that will decide the election.
This survey was conducted a few days before the release of the conversations between Flávio Bolsonaro and the banker Daniel Vorcaro.
If anyone believes this might have an influence, news broke over the weekend that Lula had personally advised Daniel Vorcaro not to sell Banco Master or to negotiate with the BRB (Banco de Brasília) because it wasn't a good deal.
The president of the Republic directly involving himself in the interests of a private banker, which is infinitely more serious, doesn't even have the same weight as the audio of Flávio Bolsonaro.
So this issue with Flávio and Banco Master, the electoral result of this will be negligible, because the PT has no moral authority whatsoever to talk about corruption, about the issue of corruption. It is the most corrupt party in the history of Brazil.
Actually, this is a topic that marketers, I think, exploit poorly.
I'm going to ask a question, and then I'm going to stay silent and not answer. I'll let you answer out loud there in your car, at home, at work. I'm going to ask a question. Want to see? That's what a marketer needs to know how to exploit. The question is this: if I talk about corruption, and the topic is corruption, which political party comes to mind?
he responded. I'll go again.
If I were to say that one political party in Brazil is marked by corruption, which party is it? You answer that over there on the other side of the radio.
Ready. I'm not even responding here. You answered.
So, if there's one mark that the PT (Workers' Party) can't transfer to others, it's the mark of corruption.
Therefore, the result of this will be very low. It might cause a slight setback right now, but things will change soon after. Given this scenario, we have an election that is literally tied, right, Pietro?
45, second round of the Datafolha poll, Datafolha survey.
If Datafolha gives a 45 to 45 result, let's hope the number is correct.
I always think Datafolha is biased towards one side, but let's hope the number is correct.
45 to 45.
So who gets to decide the election?
That 1% over there.
It's 7:12 now.
You are listening to Jornal da Mercosul.

Send us a message. Tell us where you're tuning in to our Mercosur news program from. Let's get more listeners. Let's go. A message from Jorge here on our WhatsApp. Go for it, Rafá.
Good morning, Danian. Good morning, Pietro. Good morning, Rafa. Have a good week everyone. Here at Rando farm. It's raining. Not too heavy, but the kind of light rain that soothes and wets nicely. Delian, this game is going to be decided by penalties, right? You're tied 45-45, it's going to be decided by penalties. And hopefully the goalkeeper will be good for Bolsonaro's side, right?
Hugs to everyone. May God be with you all.
If it goes to penalties, then we're going to suffer through all the regular time, extra time, and then five penalties for each side. It will be a very tough election in which people will have to participate actively on social media and everything. What I've been saying is that this election, unlike the previous one, is a watershed moment.
We'll be able to identify it very well, okay? It's very clear to me who is PT and left-wing, who is aligned with Flávio and further to the right, and who is the slimy center?
This centrist group is going to do the job, we know it's to favor Lula, and it's all very clear to me. One day we can split up, I'm going to make a challenge for Pietro. I think the American newspaper will like it a lot.
Pietro, we're separating the 20 main Brazilian parties here— the top 20, those that have representation and are going into this election in a more structured position. And we create a rule: right, left, center, whoever is where they are, and whoever is in the center leaning towards Lula, and whoever is in the center leaning towards Flávio Bolsonaro. Then we'll draw up a line, a partisan line, so you can understand who's on whose side. This helps you, it helps me, it helps all of us in choosing our vote, because there are candidates running for Senate, there are candidates running for federal office, state representative, and they will present themselves, which doesn't necessarily mean they're on the side we'd like. So, at some point we'll do a ruler division.
Okay, deal. Let's go. I think our listeners will enjoy it. Come on, Pietro.
Let's go. Speaking now, Rafa and Dani, this is our listener, Sydney.
Good morning, Danian. Good morning, Rafa. Good morning, Petro, and to everyone at the table. This is Sydney, a rideshare driver.
Daniel, what are they going to do with those buses, Daniel? That's broken every day. You pass by that population there from Miranda Tamandaré down there, those buses are constantly broken down, just old junk. On Saturday I rode those buses that, for God's sake, should have been retired years ago. There are some cars still running around, it rains more inside the bus than outside. Can you give us a shout-out? Say something.
And the city councilors, the city councilors of Curitiba, which is one step away from carrying out the bidding process for the new public transportation model, you don't see a single councilor. I don't see it. If you're on the other side of the radio, tell me.
so that I can record here the quality of the parliamentary work.
I don't see any city councilors concerned about the state of public transportation.
There's one guy who's focused on making videos because he's running for federal deputy, so he only makes videos about Lula. There are city councilors who bathe in puddles.
There are city councilors who would like to join the Military Police and end up acting as if they were conducting drug trafficking raids, which is a police activity, not a parliamentary one. There are city councilors who persecute parking attendants, there are councilors for every taste, but we can't find any who take care of what matters.
Speaking of city councilors, what a controversy the felling of the trees in Santa Quitéria caused over the weekend.
From Santa Quitéria, right? What's the name of that street? President Artur Bernardes.
Artur Bernardes.
That caused quite a controversy, didn't it? They need to do some work there to improve traffic flow in the area, especially to allow the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) bus to pass through, and they would need to cut down trees there.
And the city hall arrived there early, I think it was Saturday morning, the Curitiba city hall arrived early, closed the street and started, I don't know if it was a chainsaw, a tractor, what it was, straight up with an excavator, and knocked down the trees.
For a project of this magnitude, there's nothing else to be done.
To carry out a project with this degree of urban intervention, you have to remove the tree, because either you widen the traffic and plant the trees later, doing all the necessary concrete work and then planting new trees, or you leave the traffic as it is and preserve the trees that are already there. There is no intermediate solution, unless you divert traffic to avoid the trees, which would cause even more disruption.
So, I'm not here to pass judgment. Everyone thinks about what kind of city they want, whether they want a more tree-lined city, with trees, historic trees, and that will cause traffic jams, or whether we should make the necessary interventions. But the fact is that the felling of trees on Artur Bernardes Street generated a very strong reaction from people who were upset. And this has nothing to do with right and left, it has to do with the city we live in, with those who are from Curitiba. It didn't generate good publicity for the mayor; some groups in the city felt the mayor was right, but that the image of the tree felling was ugly. Yeah, right? I saw a demonstration, people being carried away.
He had everything. Some people hugged trees. That kind of conversation, we all know how it goes.
But what I'm saying is this: to build something of this size, you can't build something of this size without removing the tree from the way. There's nothing to be done.
But the images are striking.
And then some people flew drones to film the trees being felled from above. The mayor has already received the nickname on social media. Dudu chainsaw.
They nicknamed Eduardo Pimentel. Sure, that 's the nickname the left gave Eduardo, but this topic will make people complain, just like when they're stuck in traffic or waiting on the bus. Then the mayor goes there and intervenes to make the traffic move faster. The left goes there and gives the guy a nickname.
Curitiba was buzzing this weekend.
For those of you from the countryside, imagine an important avenue. You thought, "That's the one I'm talking about." That's exactly it. 7:21. Are there more listeners out there, Pietro? Yes he has. Message from Evandro. Good morning.
Good morning, Denian. Rafa Pietro. Regarding Joaquim Barbosa, about 8 years ago, he had the power to bring down Lula, right? But he did n't want to run for office. 9.
You recently left the Supreme Court, right?
But now is not the time to interfere either, let Flávio Bolsonaro stay in charge, he's stronger and can remove our president who only knows how to travel. Thanks, big hug. Evandro Fichino, Cajuru Bar.
Well, Joaquim Barbosa, he was powerful in the past, but nowadays people don't even remember him, do they? But if Joaquim Barbosa is in line at the bakery, everyone knows who he is, you see, Pietro?
Or almost everyone. It's a name that had great visibility in the past.
He only needs to make two or three appearances, but he doesn't even have Instagram. How are you going to run a campaign?
And can a protest vote happen or not?
But in that case, I don't know, maybe, right? But it won't do any good, you'll see, Pietro? Because it's all right, vote for Joaquim Barbosa in the first round. Who will be in the second round?
Lula and Flávio. It's no use then Joaquim Barbosa, it's no use the mission, Renan Santos' party, it's no use Caiado, it's no use Zema. Did you see Zema's speech over the weekend?
Zema said over the weekend: "Ah, he changed the subject, but he stuck to his position."
Even the New Party doesn't agree with Zema, and yet Zema is still there, with his Minas Gerais accent, ruining everything by working for Lula. That's tough, isn't it? It's very tiring. 7:23 now. Let's take a break.
On the way back there will be more news and more listeners.

You are tuned in to Jornal da Mercul, the leading radio and political news program in the state of Paraná. There's a piece of news that I'm going to open the segment with now, and it borders on the surreal; it's perhaps the best possible illustration, the best possible account of Lula's mindset. Do you want to understand Lula? Do you want to understand who the president of Brazil is and why he is so damaging to the Brazilian state?
President Lula has informed allies that he intends to resubmit Jorge Messias's nomination to the Senate for the open seat on the Supreme Federal Court. Let's go.
He introduced the name Jorge Messias.
Jorge Messias was rejected by the Senate. Do you remember? What does it do? A month.
The Senate rejected the nomination of Jorge Messias.
Do you know what the news is?
President Lula has informed his allies that he intends to resubmit Jorge Messias's name, even after the Senate rejected the nomination.
The news is in Folha de São Paulo, and Lula has begun to treat the episode not as a personal defeat for the Messiah, but as a political affront to the government and the constitutional prerogative that the president has to appoint whomever he wants. What the President of the Republic doesn't consider is that he nominates whomever he wants, and the Senate, with its constitutional prerogative, has the power to say yes or no. The name of the Messiah has already been rejected, and to resubmit it would be an affront to the legislative power.
Moreover, in my view, reintroducing Jorge Messias's name is unconstitutional and would create disharmony between the branches of government, a principle enshrined in Article 2 of the Constitution.
Lula's attempt to resubmit Jorge Messias's name constitutes an attempted coup against the institutions.
It is absolutely unconstitutional to do what Lula intends to do, and it only demonstrates that Lula considers himself some kind of emperor of the Republic, that everything he wants must be approved by Congress. It's not possible to say. If he dares to make the nomination, I don't believe this news from Folha de São Paulo. I only believe it because it's Lula, because he's someone who thinks he's above good and evil, who has already managed to manipulate everything he's done, who managed to get the Supreme Court to overturn a conviction from two instances and even more from the Superior Court of Justice to annul Lava Jato. Because he thinks he can do anything, according to Folha he will reintroduce Jorge Messias's name.
That makes no sense at all.
This has no legal or constitutional basis.
This is a very clear affront to the independence of the Senate, but it's Lula.
If Bolsonaro were to do that, my God, the republic would fall.
But since it's Lula, the Brazilian press is using brand new, recently purchased cleaning cloths filled with multi-purpose cleaning products.
Where are the prominent commentators from Globo News to say what I'm saying here? Once defeated, that name is in the file, it's a drawer. I cannot present it again, even if His Excellency wishes.
He defeated the name, opened the drawer, put it in the file, it's written in history and never again.
But Lula thinks he can, because he places himself above the institutions, above the Senate, above the Constitution, above everything. Moreover, Lula thinks he's some kind of God.
If the god of Brazil dares to present that name, the Senate doesn't even have to evaluate it; it has to return it, reject it outright through the presiding board. I reject the nomination outright. It doesn't even have to be submitted to the CCJ (Committee on Constitution, Justice and Citizenship) or the Senate or the Senate plenary.
The rejection must be done in writing, with a pen.
No.
Where does Lula think he's going?
This news should serve as a lantern, a compass, so that the voter knows who we are talking about. You know Lulinha, the peace-and-love guy, the one who talks about steak and beer, you know? Lula, who says he's going to take Brazil out of the wilderness only to create famine? Three terms in office and Brazil remains on the hunger map. Do you know Lula, the liar? Yes, he wants to trample the Constitution, the Federal Senate, and impose his will. This news story from Folha de São Paulo, it's emblematic. As I began my comment, it's a portrait of what Lula is. You don't need to write a sentence, you just draw. And in the drawing, you write "Lula" there and draw a little Hitler mustache on him. Because this is typical of Nazi-like, authoritarian behavior, of someone who cannot tolerate being told no. Here's the drawing.
This cannot be. And if he does, it is mandatory that the Senate's board of directors reject it. 7:32.
Now, Jornal da Mercosul, journalism without any strings attached to anyone.
Go ahead, Pietro.
Let's go. Message from our listener Marcelo from São José dos Pinhais on the YouTube live stream, always listening.
Vanilla also arrived and liked Danian's channel. A message from João, from our listener, Maria Teresa, via our Facebook live stream and also via our WhatsApp.
Thiago is involved. Go for it, Rafa.
Good morning, Mercosul newspaper team, Denian, Pietro, Rafa.
Let's go. Subject: Joaquim Barbosa.
How would you express my feelings here, Denian? It 's not a desire to elect Flávio, but a desire to remove Lula. I think that's how most of us feel. There's no way we can say we're proud to have a fondness for Flávio, right?
And if his candidacy doesn't take off, do n't you think that, as Pietro said, a protest vote would be effective if his candidacy doesn't move forward?
Thago Felaz here from Jardim das Américas.
I don't think his candidacy will prosper, neither his, nor Renan Santos's, nor Caiado's, nor Zema's.
This election is Lula versus Flávio, Flávio versus Lula.
Polarized election. Since I don't believe the "United in Peace" discourse will work in Paraná, firstly because they are not united, and even less so are they at peace. I also don't believe the government, the Paraná state government's discourse that this election will present a third option in the state.
I think that the federal polarization will also result in a dispute over the government of Paraná, as it is not just in Paraná. This will result in the dispute for the government of Rio Grande do Sul, the government of Santa Catarina, the government of São Paulo, the government of Rio de Janeiro, the government of Piauí, Acre, Goiás, or the Federal District. I'm not commenting here about Paraná, I'm commenting about the polarized Brazilian election. Imagine this: I have an election where one candidate has 45 votes and the other has 45, and you're going to decide the election down to the decimal point.
One will score 45.5, the other will score 44.5, the difference will be 1%. In the valid votes, it will be 51 to 49.
50.5 to 49.5, 1%, 2%. The presidential election will be decided by a decimal point, 1 or 2%. 1 million votes, 15.5 million votes, 2 million votes. This is how the presidential election will be decided.
If the presidential election is like this, then the gubernatorial elections in Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Goiás will also be decided by this wave of polarization.
So, the person in question is Flávio in Paraná, who is he? Moro.
Ah, the subject is Lula.
In Paraná. Who is he? Requ is a son.
Oh no, I'm whitewashed. Okay, but it's going to be Sandro Alex.
The election will lead to polarization.
But Denian, Paraná has Greca, who is very strong. Well, yes, but if Greca doesn't take a side in the presidential election—and I do n't know if Greca will be able to make his candidacy viable—let's hope that he does, that the former mayor has the political strength to hold the MDB together, and that Greca runs for governor.
He will be held accountable eventually.
Which side are you on?
In fact, if Greca were to come here for me to interview him, that would be one of the first questions I would ask. Which side are you on? Are you on Lula's side or are you on Flávio's side?
Because in this election, is it possible to avoid taking a position, Pietro?
Not at the moment.
Which side are you on? Will you be able to escape?
Those who don't take sides will fall into that centrist mess, and the vote won't be found in the center.
So, you either take a side or you don't. By the way, speaking of sides, this weekend was the March for Jesus, right?
And at the march for Jesus, politicians from both sides were on the platform; Sandro Alex and his group, and Sérgio Moro and his group were at the march for Jesus. Everyone went to the march for Jesus. What I want to say is this: I don't like the use of the most powerful brand that exists, which is called Jesus Christ.
I don't like the practice of those who will put on a t-shirt at the convenience of either side.
As a Christian, and I am one, so I can say this, a Christian does not buy into artificial appearances.
Manuela Dávila is a candidate for the Senate today, but in the last election, she was Haddad's running mate.
Manuela Dávila, who had never set foot in a church before, went to the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida.
So, in reality, the voter, or at least the majority of them, are not easily fooled. So, using the "March for Jesus" movement when you've never been a Christian in your life, that does n't work.
At least not for Christians; perhaps it has some kind of impact on others. 7:38.
So, Daniel, you think the discourse from the Paraná government, from Unidos e em Paz (United for Peace), isn't going to work? It's not that I think so, I'm sure it won't work, because it's fake. It is not true that they are united and at peace.
It's just a slogan.
United and at peace. Is it possible to sit around a table and laugh together, everyone happy? Jacobo, Guto Silva, Alexandre Curi, Rafael Greca, Ratinho Júnior, Sandro Alex, Márcio Nunes, Bacre, Romanelli, everyone's going to get together in peace and unity, right? So, when you sell a message that isn't true, the reflection of that comes through at the ballot box.
And I saw that it's being set up on social media, Pietro, using artificial intelligence, right? An image of people walking with the crowd behind them. Did you see this post? Yes.
Even the image is fake. It was built using AI.
When you create an image using AI, or artificial intelligence, it's because the image is artificial.
For it to look natural, the photo has to be real.
So, what would a real photo look like?
Get them all walking for real, with the real people behind them, and write, united and in peace. Will the photo come out?
When something is artificial, there's no way to make it work.
So, there's no such thing as a polarized election; that kind of talk only fools activists and those holding appointed positions.
In the photo I'm talking about, there can't be appointed officials; it has to be ordinary people. Then I want to see the people. Before the listeners participate, I want to send a message to Columbo. I want to thank everyone for the dozens of messages I received with screenshots and audio recordings about the apparent abuse of political power happening in the Colombo City Hall, where the mayor wants to elect his son as a congressman and is forcing everyone to support him, threatening to cut off their heads.
So, there's a lot of material here, a lot of material indeed. I will give the investigation, which is already underway, the direction it requires. I want to thank Colombo for such a large audience and for such great participation. All those who asked me not to disclose their names. Obviously, I'm not going to bring out the audio recordings or the names of any of you. Our WhatsApp number remains open if you would like to contribute to the cause of politics being conducted honestly and not based on the abuse of political power. Let's go with the listeners, Pietro.
Let's go. Message from Adriano, he sent a photo of Dial 92.9, always tuned in to Jornal da América. A hug for you, Adriano. A message from Darc was also sent via our WhatsApp. Let it go, Rafa.
Good morning, Denian. Good morning, Pietro. Just one question, Denian. Every week a new poll about the president of the Republic comes out. Every week I listen to sometimes two surveys a week. As far as I know, this kind of research is expensive, Deninha. It costs more than R$100,000, I think around R$200,000 per survey. Who pays for all this? Who pays out of their own pocket for this research?
Money seems to fall from the sky, doesn't it?
I always like to look at who commissions the research; who pays Datafolha? It's Folha de São Paulo, and if it's broadcast on Globo, Globo pays for that too.
So it's in the interest of the media outlets themselves, which are the two largest in Brazil, right? The largest television network is Globo. The largest newspaper in Brazil is Folha de São Paulo. So they want to set the agenda for the rest of the press.
So there is a corporate media interest involved.
Now, regarding the others, it's always good to take a look at who the client is, who 's paying for the research. That's a great lesson, isn't it? Go ahead, Pietro.
Message from our listener Ricardo. Let go of it, Rafael. Well, good morning, Denian, Rafa, Pietro, and listeners. Joaquim Barbosa. Why doesn't he even have Instagram? Because he is a former Supreme Court Justice. Back when Supreme Court justices were actually Supreme Court justices, right? We didn't even know who they were. All we knew was that the case was going to the Supreme Court.
But nowadays we know who the pop stars are.
So, speaking of research, a new survey from the IRG Institute will be released this Thursday.
IRG, which was going to release it last week, gave up and is doing it again.
IRG's stance was strange, wasn't it? And now comes a poll announced for Thursday.
This research promises to reveal the impact of the disclosure of the conversation between Flávio Bolsonaro and Daniel Vorcaro on Moro's campaign in Paraná. I do n't think it affects anything at all. These two things have nothing to do with each other. I don't understand why the press is working on this, because, incidentally, I'd like to know who paid for the IRG survey.
And the other is to try to show how, a month after Governor Ratinho Júnior embraced Sandro Alex as a pre-candidate for governor, a month after all the media attention, what the electoral result was after a month of strong exposure for the two of them together.
Let's see what comes up in the IRG survey.
And IRG will also ask: "Who do you support? If you have the blessing of this person, or that person?" These are very different questions from those in a traditional survey. The results were released on Thursday the 21st, and the survey was conducted between the 16th and 20th. The research was commissioned by the institute itself, for R$ 25,000.
It's OK? So, when the institute itself hires its own staff, and I trust IRG, as I've said before and praised many times, I think it's a serious research project, and perhaps this self-contracting is done to cover up the lack of disclosure last week. That might be the case, but IRG isn't a dishonest institution, it's a good institution. I'm saying this now, before releasing the numbers. It's 7:46.
Let's take a break. On the way back, Pietro opens the segment with the listeners.

Mercosul Newspaper. Presentation by Denian Couto.
You know, Pietro, that the trouble is reaching the smaller parties too, right?
Aldo Rebelo said in an interview that he is maintaining his candidacy for the Christian Democracy party and criticized Joaquim Barbosa.
How can the party announce another pre-candidate when the other one hasn't even dropped out of the race yet?
Oh dear. Christian democracy is claiming a leading role for itself that it doesn't even deserve, isn't it?
Poor Christian Democracy. You know, Christian Democracy, I don't know if I'm right, but in my head Christian Democracy is the spoils of PSDC, the Social Democratic Party of Christian Democracy, the party of "ei" and "ei" Mael, a Christian Democrat. I think Christian Democracy is the successor to Emael's party, if I 'm not mistaken, because parties change, right?
I think it's Emael's party.
And they'll have an election result exactly like Emael's, which means they're not going anywhere. 7 hours 49 minutes. Let's go with the listeners, Pietro.
Let's go. Two messages, Rafa. Luiz and Marco. Good morning.
Good morning, Denian. Good morning, Rafa. Pietro Denian, have a great week everyone.
God blesses. Just stopping by to say hiatus. What a ratings goal this newspaper is!
Okay, my friends. God blesses. Let's go up and out, Lula.
Good morning, Daniel. I'm Marco from São José.
I listen to this wonderful newspaper every day.
Let's work, work, work.
Let's get to work.
Thank you very much for listening to Jornal da Mercosul.
Our WhatsApp is now open. Let's give Pietro a hard time here in the final stretch of the news program.
Send us your WhatsApp number telling us where you're listening from.
Okay, Danian? What is the WhatsApp number? Save this number on your phone: 41 99980 92 901 99980 92 90. Go ahead, Pedro.
Let's go. Two more messages, sure, from Carlos and Paulo.
Good morning. Good morning.
I mean, don't you think that game shouldn't be like that?
The situation the country is in, what Lula's son did, a lot of dirty tricks that the PT party does, and it's still like this. Haven't the people opened their eyes yet?
Carlos São José de Pinhais, good morning, Daniel. Good morning, Pietro. Good morning, Rafa Almeida, Fazendinho neighborhood.
Adrian, if the engineer who's designing that construction project on Artur Bernardes is the same engineer who did that Repugentina project, which was a complete mess... Over there at the Carlos Vit tube, we're lost because that engineer, frankly, the guy bought his diploma because he ended up... Argentina, open up some space for the logistics people to speak up, to give their opinion, to see what they thought of this work in the Republic of Argentina. It's simply chaos right there in front of Bagos school. A hug. Good morning everybody. There's no need to even talk to the logistics people. We drive around there, we know it's bad, right?
No need. 7:51.
You are now listening to Jornal da Mercosul.
Journalism that is not afraid to tell the truth. At 4 PM today, the coach of the Brazilian national team, the Italian Carlo Anchelotte, will announce the 26 players selected to represent Brazil in this year's World Cup.
The event scheduled by the CBF is actually at 5 pm at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro.
There's a preliminary list, right, that's circulating on social media, and I see it here, and we're only going to participate in the Cup because with this little team we're not going to win. Pietro, is there any news you're expecting regarding this selection process, regarding the call-up?
Nothing new. The discussion revolves around Neymar's name. Is it going to happen or not?
I think it's going to happen, I think it's going to happen, I think they really have to call up Neymar. Me, Denian, if I were Antielote, I'd call up Neymar, but Ancelotti is Anchelote, right? Is there anyone who plays better than Neymar in the national team's attack? There isn't one.
There's no one who plays better than Neymar, but it's not even that close, is it? The World Cup is not just about football; it 's about the moment and it's about marketing.
Sponsored photo. Do you think Nike, Pietro, which sponsors the Brazilian national team, should stop being so romantic for a moment? Ah, Neymar is in a good phase, or he's not in a good phase. Let's talk about money, which is what football generates a lot of. That's where Nike sponsors the Brazilian team's clothing. You don't have to dress a guy in your clothes and wear that brand all over the world.
Who is the most well-known player in Brazilian football today? It's not Neymar.
Neymar, without a doubt.
So you're not going to get Neymar to wear a Nike jersey?
So imagine this: you're warming up on the field before the game starts. Won't all the cameras be focused on Neymar?
For sure.
It's a brand, right? The strongest brand in Brazilian football today.
How can you not call him up? Go. It's not about the skill he displays or the form he's in, it's about the money involved.
But do you think the Italian's list has been subject to any interference over the last few months?
I think the only interference is Neymar. Hey Italian, I think so, Italian, you're going to take Neymar, you choose the other 25, okay? I think that's how it is. I don't know about that. If it were a different coach, I think that would have happened. Do you think he... Do you think the Italian will leave Neymar out?
I think he'll win, but not for that reason, not because of external interests behind the scenes, money, sponsorship, I don't know if Anchelote will win for technical reasons, if he thinks it's important, the money people didn't even need to bother.
I'm less romantic than Pietro.
I think they called the Italian and said, "Oh, my dear, you pick whoever you want and you call up 25 players you want. One is already called up, his name is Neymar.
Nike, Guaraná, Antarctica, Brahma, I don't know who sponsors the Brazilian national team, they need Neymar there, right? By the way, Neymar starred in one of the most hilarious moments I've ever seen in football this weekend in the game against Coxa, him with the wrongly substituted player.
They messed up the substitution.
It was the fourth official who made the mistake, right?
They made a mess there, excuse the expression.
And then Neymar went crazy, rightfully so.
He was showing the little piece of paper saying that another player should have been substituted and did n't lose focus on the game's result, right?
3-0 for Coritiba.
And what a thrashing, right? Congratulations to Coxa, who played in São Paulo and beat Santos 3-0 away, took a thrashing here in the... and got their revenge there in... Neelquímica Arena. They got their revenge, congratulations to Coxa, they're doing very well in the Brazilian Championship. Atlético played yesterday, they hosted the strong Flamengo team and only conceded a draw at the very end, right?
Atlético played very well, almost beat Flamengo at Arena da Baixada, which had a lot of complaints regarding the pitch.
Another coach, the Flamengo coach, complained about the pitch at Baixada.
He said it looked like a carpet at home, not like a football pitch. There's always an excuse, isn't there, when the result isn't favorable.
Yes, but there needs to be discipline.
But will the pitch be replaced?
Yes, in these kinds of issues, it's so difficult, isn't it? Whether we tolerate synthetic grass or not, because however good synthetic grass is, it's not grass.
And some stadiums have grass, others have synthetic grass. And other teams don't train on synthetic grass, they train on grass. And when you go to synthetic grass, the ball has a different speed, the cleats you use are different, the chance of injury is different.
So there's an imbalance. It's a technical issue, but it was in the rules before the championship started. Everyone agreed. Of course. What I'm saying is that at some point there will have to be some discipline regarding synthetic grass.
What discipline is that, right? Because it causes a technical imbalance. There's no way to deny it. And it's not just so they don't say it's against Atlético Paranaense. Palmeiras has synthetic grass.
Botafogo has it.
Botafogo has it and Atlético Mineiro also has it.
Chapecoense. Chapecoense also has it. So synthetic grass isn't a novelty for Atlético. There are several, right?
with synthetic grass. So there you have it.
But actually, do you think it will attract attention? I think it will, right? People will take a look at Antielot's call-up, right?
Of course it will, of course it will, for sure.
Hiring the Grêmio goalkeeper, calling up the Grêmio goalkeeper, because it's a miraculous football club, because Grêmio hasn't lost only because of the goalkeeper. Everton, who was formed in the youth categories of... Atlético Paranaense, a great goalkeeper. On the list of goalkeepers are Alisson, Ederson, and Bento. Do you know who's not on that list, on the preliminary list? Fábio from Fluminense. What's wrong with that 45-year-old guy? It's because he's an older gentleman, that's why he doesn't play very well, he played very well against São Paulo.
Very well. So today at 5 pm we have our Italian Anchelote who will say who he takes and who he doesn't take to the World Cup. We'll have two listeners to close our edition today. Okay, let's go, Rafa. Two more audio messages here on the news.
Good morning, Daniel, Rafa, Pietro, listeners.
God bless our day, our week, just checking in to confirm your audience on the best news program in Latin America. We're together. That's us.
Good morning, people from South America. Uh, clear up a doubt, Denian.
In the last election of 2022, in the second round, Joaquim Barbosa didn't support... Luna?
I think he supported it. I don't remember that position, but I would say the following: given Joaquim Barbosa's reputation, he prefers Lula. Therefore, it's what I'm saying, he's just another one there who's going to make a scene in the middle of the field. 7:59 now. What a shame it's over and my heart is broken, but tomorrow, at 7 am there's more, another edition of our Mercosul newspaper. Big hug to everyone. May God be with you all and see you tomorrow. Bye, Pietro.
Bye. See you tomorrow. M.
