[00:00:47]See, Ro Khanna is actually conceding way too much here because Peter Hegseth points it's based on a false premise.

[00:00:56]They already were prevented from getting a nuclear bomb by the JCPOA, which Trump tore up, and they would have been further prevented from it under even stricter limits if Trump had accepted the Iranian proposals that they made in Geneva right before he started bombing.

[00:01:08]So, Peter Hegseth is making a point that's based on a false premise, which Ro Khanna unfortunately is not uh challenging. And if if anything actually, it's not even false.

[00:01:21]It's It's doubly false because if anything, Trump's war has incentivized Iran to try to get a nuclear weapon as a way to protect themselves. Yeah, you can't really respond to to that point from from uh Hegseth without saying, "Well, I don't know, but why did you Why did Trump rip up the deal?"

[00:01:39]Like that's that would be a relevant thing to to throw back at him. If if the goal wa- was uh if if preventing a nuclear weapon were so important. I just think that that needs to be part of the conversation kind of constantly um from uh the Democrats and the media. Like they just need to be clear that the reason that this is happening is in large part This is a would have been a moot point had uh Donald Trump not ripped up the deal that Obama had had made with Iran. What would you pay?

[00:02:18]It's $631 billion, which means it's an increase of $5,000 a year for American households. Now, let me give you this point. You're saying It is a good contrast. Like Ro Khanna is talking about something real, which is the cost to average people.

[00:02:35]And Peter Hegseth's response is to fear-monger about a fictional outcome that's based on a false premise.

[00:02:42]The one is not only grounded in the real world, but it's also grounded in like real people's average people's actual needs, material needs. Peter Hegseth only respond by fear-mongering about a future potential outcome that he claims to have avoided when in fact he didn't at all. Right. Exactly. He just made it more likely. He made the thing that he claims is so dangerous more of a possibility. And again, this is kind of, you know, Trump himself made this point, right? When he said, "It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things. We have to take care of one thing, military protection. We have to guard the country." Of course, he's not the guarding the country or protecting the military. He's um engaged in a total war of choice. We can't take care of daycare. We can't take care of daycare, so don't Trump.

[00:03:26]Okay, well, let's turn to more Peter Hegseth and his insistence on living in a fantasy land including on the question of did this war that he helped launch on fake grounds endanger US troops? And the answer is yes, because US forces in the Gulf have complained that under Peter Hegseth's watch they were put in serious harm.

[00:03:50]That in fact, when they were evacuated from one base, they were actually moved closer to harm than they would have been had they even just stayed at their uh base to begin with. So, Peter Hegseth was asked about this before Congress, and he basically accused the survivors, the US service members who survived an Iranian attack uh of lying about the danger that he put them in. Brave survivors have come forward to set the record straight.

[00:04:15]One of our surviving soldiers told CBS, quote, "Painting a picture that one squeaked through is a falsehood."

[00:04:27]Another said the unit was, quote, "unprepared to provide any defense for itself. It was not a fortified position."

[00:04:36]Another survivor said the building's protection was about as weak as one gets.

[00:04:42]Secretary Hegseth, that is obviously in direct contradiction to what you said from the Pentagon podium the next day.

[00:04:50]So, are you saying that these soldiers, our soldiers, who survived this horrific attack are lying?

[00:04:58]What I'm saying is before the commencement of of the conflict, we put in maximum defensive posture we could.

[00:05:39]There's a much larger picture There's a much larger picture at play here that included integrated air defenses So, there's a much larger picture than the direct testimony of US service members.

[00:05:48]That's what he's saying. Yes, US service members testified they were put in danger, but there's a bigger picture.

And then he thinks that he's just going to like like rattle off some military terms and and sound important and uh like he knows what he's talking about and it's above everyone else's pay grade. All right, let's turn to Ursula von der Leyen. She is the European Commission President. And uh you know, there have been calls recently to lift sanctions on Iran cuz sanctions hurt ordinary people.

[00:06:18]Right. But she's against that. And watch her explain why. We think the dropping of sanctions would be too early because there's a reason why the sanctions are imposed on Iran. And this reason is um their um behavior towards the own population.

[00:06:34]Um 17,000 young people have been killed alone this year the beginning of this year by uh the regime.

[00:06:41]It's the suppression of human rights and specifically women rights in Iran uh and many other topics that triggered the sanctions. We first have to see a change, a fundamental change in Iran >> [snorts] >> for the dropping of sanctions um and therefore we think it's too early to drop sanctions. So, yeah. Okay, she's upset that people were killed um and her solution to that is to impose uh sanctions, which will lead uh to the killing of many more. And you know, according to um Lancet study, um EU sanctions uh have killed around 564,258 people per year between 1970 and 2021.

[00:07:29]So, I guess she's just trying to be out be more uh murderous than than the the quote-unquote regime that she claims is murderous. And no one knows where she gets those numbers from, the 17,000 people killed. Yeah, I mean, those are inflated, and the crisis itself was manufactured by the imposition of sanctions to begin with. Right. Uh Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary, bragged about how US sanctions crushed Iran's economy, sparking the protests. And then the part that everybody leaves out is that Israel uh and the US, you know, fueled the protest by arming by arming protesters, as Donald Trump even bragged about, encouraging a crackdown there as well. So, basically, everything is like provoked, sparked, encouraged by the US and their allies, and then they go ahead and impose more sanctions over a crisis that they brag about creating. It's Right. And also, I mean, if killing people determined whether or not you imposed sanctions, then we would have obviously have sanctions against Israel.

[00:08:26]Uh no one's even suggested that uh in at the EU. And the other thing is if she cares so much about human rights and women's rights, like women and children are always disproportionately hurt by not just war, but by sanctions.
