The release timing of competing video games significantly impacts their market success, as demonstrated by the October release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 reducing competitive pressure on Gears of War E-Day, which is scheduled for September; this strategic positioning allows E-Day to potentially outperform Call of Duty by offering a more authentic gaming experience after years of community dissatisfaction with the series' development direction.

What Does This Mean for Gears of War E-Day?Añadido:
So, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4. If you didn't hear the news, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 has been revealed. And if you ask me, it doesn't feel all that interesting. The thing that stood out to me immediately is that most of the shots in this trailer are gameplay, not even cinematics, which I found pretty odd.
For me, it tells me that this game will most likely be another Modern Warfare 3 semi-open world experience, which wasn't received very well. Now, although I haven't purchased a Call of Duty title since Cold War for the Zombies mode, I still see nothing in this reveal that says that this will blow the socks off of anyone. And now that we know that it's releasing in October, like most of us were expecting, this puts a lot less stress on a game like Gears of War E-Day. Now, we don't have an official release date for E-Day, but after all the news we've heard, the WWE sponsorship, the constant rumors, and the feeling of the community that September would be perfect timing. But what I would say is that after watching that trailer, I really am not concerned with Call of Duty anymore. And if you don't believe me, go read the comments.
They're pretty rough. Call of Duty just ain't what it used to be, man. It just isn't. Call of Duty hasn't been good since Modern Warfare in 2019. I'm just being completely honest here. I remember booting that game up back in 2019. It really did have that Call of Duty vibe.
It really did feel like a fresh take.
Boots on the ground again. The sound design. The weapons had punch to them.
The character dialogue was pretty dang good. And the overall campaign just made sense. But somewhere after that game, it went completely south. I mean, [ __ ] dude. This has been the fourth release of a Modern Warfare game since 2019.
Like, how much could you possibly do with one character for all this time?
The gameplay overall just got worse over time. We saw Cold War get swallowed up by the pandemic, which really could have been a great Call of Duty Black Ops game. We saw the mistake of Vanguard.
Black Ops 7 wasn't received very well at all. And after all this input from the Call of Duty community, they still haven't changed their ways, which is really quite sad. But back to what this means for E-Day. Since this game looks like it's not going to be a heavy hitter necessarily, I really do think Gears of War E-Day, if it turns out to be what we all think it could be, this could be the year that Gears beats Call of Duty. Now, I know that seems crazy, but just think about this for a second. What if E-Day is the game that we've always wanted?
What if the campaign has great writing, good pacing, multiplayer has new things in it that keep casuals there, gives us players a real reason to play Gears again? What if Gears of War E-Day turns out to be the game of the year? And with everything that has gone on with Gears of War in the past few years, man, we need a [ __ ] win, badly. And if E-Day turns out to be going to PlayStation after all, dude, this could be the moment. But I was actually thinking about this last night. Think about this for a second. Us Gears fans have been playing Gears 5 for over 7 years. Think about that. 7 years we've been playing a game that just doesn't feel like Gears. The amount of things that TC did to our beloved series, the constant changing of tuning for multiplayer when this game was supported, and then left to die in 2021.
It's been rough out here, guys. I'm not going to lie. But my point is, for 7 years we've been playing a game that we really don't even enjoy playing. Sure, there are some moments throughout the years, but damn guys, after 7 brutal years, we're finally getting a new Gears of War game. I was watching one of Red Ichi's last videos, and he brought up the point that he misses having fun in Gears, and that he's been doing content for this game so long, and he's really looking forward to E-Day because he genuinely believes in this game. And when he said {quote} {unquote}, "The only thing I'm achieving when I play this game is I'm creating content for the for the community. I'm trying to keep it alive. You know, it's that's not always the most fulfilling thing in the world, man. Sometimes I'd like to be selfish, you know, I want to also have fun." Man, that hit me right in the [ __ ] gut. I feel for that man. I really do. He's been doing this for a job for years, supporting a dead ass game, plays it every day to make content for us fans, and he doesn't even enjoy the game. That quote alone really lit a fire under my ass. Ice, if you're out there watching this video, we all love you, man. We all feel for you. You've been the man for years. From the bottom of my heart, we all want to see you succeed and hopefully Eday changes everything for not only you, but for everybody in this community. But back to the matter of the video. I'm so incredibly excited for Eday. Even though I've had my doubts about the coalition and all this damn silence, we finally know why they've been so silent all this time. And if you didn't know, we're going to be seeing 30 minutes of stuff from Eday at the showcase come June 7th.
I know I'll be streaming the event and plenty of us creators will be enjoying the [ __ ] out of this moment for Gears of War after all this time. It's almost here, boys. It is almost here.
