A cold front passage causes significant temperature drops (10-15°F) and wind shifts, with temperatures in the 50s over northern regions and mid-60s elsewhere, while atmospheric stabilization after sunset leads to overnight lows in the 30s-40s and potential frost in rural areas.

13Weather afternoon forecast | Wednesday, May 13, 2026Added:
All right, at this hour here, we've got beautiful shots if you like varying cloud cover. Let me show you what we're talking about. The north side here, more of an overcast, few rays peaking through. Then we'll go over to Fayette County on the eastern side of the state in Connersville, more blue than clouds there. So it's going to be one of these days where your sky condition's going to vary greatly, and sometimes that's going to happen in a short period of time.
Here's the visible satellite, and you can see these cloud files coming down the pike covering up right now most of the metro area, but we're seeing some blue starting to clearing re-emerge there over Carmel. So go a little farther to the north, expand the map, you can see less cloud cover over northwest Indiana.
So we're going to have this little bout of expected low cloud cover move through. You may have a few sprinkles or a passing shower. A quite a range in temps, 56 in Kokomo, near 70 in Bloomington where it's you know, mix of sun and clouds this hour. And the farther south you go, the less you'll see in terms of cloud cover. If you're going to the track this afternoon, the wind will be brisk and is going to be gusty, too. Temperature 65 to about 68.
Those gates are open until 8:00.
Now, what happens is as the sun sets, it will allow the atmosphere to stabilize.
That's going to do a couple of things.
We're going to lose the cloud cover, the wind will diminish, and we wake up to 30s and low 40s on the map tomorrow morning. And the possibility, not necessarily the likelihood, but some of the low-lying rural areas, it's possible we could have a little patchy frost early tomorrow morning. No doubt jacket weather for the kids early in the day.
You won't need it all day long. Um and then we're staring down a just a fantastic afternoon. Sunshine and 65 to near 70°. Tomorrow morning, Friday morning if you like it on the crisp side and spring you should take advantage of that. These are overnight low temperatures going into the weekend as we start to get into that expected warm-up we've been talking about. To get to the warmer air we will have to go through some showers it looks like during the day Friday could impact fast Friday.
Now in terms of qualifying weekend we've got higher odds of rain and storms on Saturday versus less coverage and a warmer high in the 80s there on Sunday.
Pattern at least through the early part of next week still looks to be a bit unsettled with rain and thunderstorms and then possibly trending a little bit cooler middle and latter half of the week.
