When people feel inconsistent or avoid starting new habits, it's often because their nervous system predicts that the change will lead to overwhelm or collapse, causing it to shut down before they can begin; applying more pressure and trying harder actually increases this resistance, so the solution is to teach the nervous system that small, incremental steps are safe rather than approaching change as a discipline problem.

Do I need to try harder?Añadido:
Many people think they're not consistent because they avoid, procrastinate, don't follow through. But in reality, their system is predicting that starting down that path will lead to overwhelm or collapse, and so their system shuts them down before they even have a chance to start. Then they apply more pressure. I need to try harder. I need to be more organized. I need to this. I should that. And more pressure leads to more avoidance by their system. So instead of going straight to the big goal, we start by teaching their system that baby steps are safe.
